Probably depends on how they do. Despite Viz fully translating some axed series (Red Sprite and Love Rush for more recent examples but Robo seems to be heading down this path too) they never gave them a print release (School Judgment got one though)

another thing that people are missing, some of these series translations are kinda bad

this isn't the usual Viz's standards

I think this is Sky Japan, the company that does Mangabox stuff for Kodansha

i wouldnt count them as officially licensed since they arent being translated by viz, but by media do. Probaly could be considered officially licensed if they happen to come to viz's jump app...

Further, even ones like Jujutsu and Act Age and so on, havent been announced for volume release.

this is what I meant, this isn't Viz doing the translation

JK and AA have a chance of being released as books in the west duo to them being done by Viz

but what about the titles that are not?

That's one way to combat piracy.
But the fact that they are missing Kingdom, their prime series from WYJ is pretty fucking disappointing.
Kingdom is DOA :derp

The problem with their model and long series is, it's expensive to buy hundreds of chapters.

Viz vault is better for long series in terms of people wanting to sell their favorite long series to non readers.

oh, so they're not Sky Japan but a different company, could've fooled me

they follow the same business model, fast mass production at the expense of sacrificing the translation quality

Media Do are a licensing and translation company. They have fingers in stuff like Baki and Wakako Zake right now, among a stupid wealth of other titles. Like if it’s cheap and cheap-looking on comixology and is a manga, they are usually involved.
Which bodes well for some of the series they’re handling for the site, particularly Blue Flag, which I’m sure they’d jump at the chance to do volumes of (DIGITALLY, mind, as that’s their thing)

Wait, wait, wait. Survey where? You got me intrigued.
P.S. Pretty sure they will add things like Kamuy, Kingdom, Tokyo Ghoul Re and Kaguya-sama at some point.

Everything on there is either being done by Viz, Media Do, or Medibang (The series’ with no credits) afaik. I believe both Media Do and Medibang are digital only companies. Apparently Media Do is known for doing a bad job of the Kodansha Mangabox stuff.

Yeah, this is a massive problem people are overlooking. Hinomaru isn’t barely even in acceptable English, with grammatical errors on almost every page. It’s also quite obvious the translator hasn’t read the series with some translation errors that just shouldn’t be possible otherwise. The Lettering looks like it was done by someone who just watched a Youtube tutorial on it yesterday too...

Haven’t looked into any of the other stuff yet, but if all Media Do’s stuff is like this, I’m not really sure how to feel. As great of an initiative this is, the official English releases should at least be in fluent English... And that’s without even bringing up translation issues. Like how does that even happen?

Waiting for the reception once the the backlogs are reprinted in a week or two. The boost looks like it'll have long legs.
