Hey guys, anyone have a link to the Shoseki blog where they post the daily and weekly sales rankings of the top 500 volumes? I didn't bookmark it before my browser had some end of the year reboot/update thing that deleted my search history and older bookmarks( that I managed to restore).

Just saw that Jimoto ga Japan is at 19th place in popularity on Manga Plus out of 52 currently available. Did not know people would be interested in it at all.

The completely new manga that have some traction right now are Dricam!!, Abyss Rage and Nano Hazard. The rest is all doing poorly in views, though Shueisha is to be in fault for not even promoting them.

Land Lock and Abyss Rage seem alright (although the image quality is pretty bad even when set to high)

Hm, so editorial in WSJ basically begs the readers to try to get David an anime by supporting letters? What? Is it because it's in danger so they are trying to see if it can get an anime to be saved? I am confused.

Mangaplus ranking for now and some opinions from me:

-I thought One Piece was going to be 1st for sure, so is pretty surprising for me to see Hero Academia instead and with more than the double of points over One Piece (dunno how the points work btw, favorites inclusions, readings?)
-Boruto 4th is also surprising. I mean, Boruto manga wasn't so popular as some other stuff like Black Clover.
-Dragon Ball Super 5th...doesn't surprise me. The DBS pandering is excesively enormous at this point.
-Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku being 8th is suprising too. And I'm happy to see it so well ranked.
-Kudos for Kimetsu.

Other Jump rankings right now: Shokugeki 10th, David 12th, Haikyuu 14th, Hinomaru 15th, Chainsawman 16th, Act-age 17th, We Never Learn 18th, Jujutsu 24th, ne0lation 25th, Higuma 28th

PD: Definitively Act-age and Jujutsu have almost 0 popularity out of Japan. And both of them are almost 1 year old. Dr.Stone or We Never Learn were already popular at these heights.

I am actually more surprised by how We Never Learn is struggling a bit. Considering Nisekoi (WNL is basically a spiritual successor to it) was really popular in it's peak back then (since then the buzz fizzled out), this is just...eh.

I get Ne0 and Higuma being lower placed, mostly because they are new and neither got the Edited Manga love unlike David and Chainsawman. But Jujutsu flat out losing to Jimoto ga Japan is just embarassing.

Act-Age is a very niche manga that is more suited to an anime format of media really. Very surprised and glad this is somehow going on in ruthless WSJ.

Boruto is 3rd now.

I have to assume the rankings will be reseting every week, right? This would be a big disadvantage to any new series that would be coming after this.

I imagine the rankings will work the same as they do on the jp Jump+, which I think resets weekly.

I'm pretty sure that's because Dr Stone and WNL had consistent releases from the beginning coming off of the hype of the whole 6 NEW SERIALIZATIONS campaign. Act-age and JJK had somewhat rough starts in comparison.

Another thing that also doesn't help is Act-age and Jujutsu didn't get picked up by viz until recently and hence didn't have a guaranteed audience each week seeing it in between MHA/OP/Black Clover/etc, nor did they get consistent fanscans each week.

Not to mention their first few ranks were low so people were probably wary of starting something something that might get cancelled, and since there was no consistent english chapter each week releasing alongside their favourites a lot probably just stopped keeping up or never got around to starting them in the first place.

I remember Kimetsu took a while to get going too and it was in a similar situation, it wasn't until the Spider arc that it got a more consistent audience. Jujutsu hasn't had a huge standout 'found its feet now' arc like that yet and while Act-age's Death Island was great it's a fairly niche premise and not directly comparable to any older jump series to get some of their fanbases (compared to WNL often being described as a new better Nisekoi early on).

When viz eventually catches up I imagine they'll take off more. Jujutsu especially since it's pretty Bleach-y, I can imagine grabbing a decent audience of old Bleach fans.

Will take off with an anime and if they promote it as heavily as BLack Clover. Imagine jujutsu being the new prince of shonen. Epic.

I hope they remove the ranking feature from Manga Plus
although seeing what popular is a nice data to have as people looking from the outside the effect on the community will be cancerous
we will go from having weekly dickmeasuring contest to daily shitposting or even hourly

As if the table of contents, volume sales, and who the fuck is bigger/in front on Jump group covers aren't already dick measuring contests.
