I don't think so, Goldy Pond and Hideout Attack could definitely be labeled as "action", but I don't think the series itself is battle now, it just had a change of focus on the middle of it's story, right now, Neverland has gone back to it's Mystery/Horror roots.
That's like saying HxH isn't a battle manga. Being unconventional in certain regards doesn't change it's genre.

Tetsuo: the iron Man is still a superhero movie. Kuroneko is still a horror movie.

Yeah, but I would say “Battle” is sort of a manga exclusive genre.
Neverland never really enters “battle” territory. That would be like calling something like John Wick a “Battle Movie”. Or Harry Potter a “Battle Series”.

Idk how many ppl agree, but I see battle as a series that’s filled with “special moves”, one on one fights, tournaments, and power ups.

Neverland definitely becomes an action series. But I wouldn’t define it as a battle series

Yeah, I think there's a distinction between "action" and "battle shounen", even if it isn't clear cut, and I definitely wouldn't say the Goldy Pond arc is in the same genre as something like One Piece or Boku no Hero.

So, has the BC anime boosted the volume sales to a respectable degree?

Following this, we can consider Ansatsu a Battle manga, it had it's comedy in the middle, but it also had several fights, Koro-sensei vs Karma or Itona, the beach battle, the several hotel fights, the whole ending, etc...

See the problem with your argument is since chapter 38 the series has been action focused. This is well over half the manga already which is likely only going to get more action focused once the war starts.

This isn't like AssClass, Beelzebub or Gintama where it can be any genre it wants to be depending on the arc. The series has been consistently a psychological human vs demons battle manga for quite some time now.

I guess Yu Yu Hakusho is not a battle manga and is instead solely a supernatural detective series simply by how the initial arc played out.

I don't think you're getting my point, I'm not saying that "first arc determines the genre doesn't matter what focus the story has now" or something like that, of course it's action now, but what I'm trying to say is that having action scenes doesn't necessarily make a manga a Battle one, Action and Battle are two different genres on my point of view, with battle being a genre where the story's main purpose is to create those fights and let them drive the series, with every plot point existing either to create or be resolved in a fight, and it's whole bunch of cliches, all of which, Neverland doesn't follow, this is why I mentioned Ansatsu, because it never stopped being a comedy even though it had a action focused part, just having action scenes wasn't enough to turn it into a Battle, there is a formula that distinguishes them, Neverland has been more action that horror/mystery lately (even though it still is hella horror and mystery), but that factor itself isn't the only thing that a manga needs to be considered a b-manga, you can't have battle without action, but you can have action without battle.

This is exactly what I'm trying to say.

I don't think you are are either.
My point is for most of its run now the series has been focused on action which only seems to be amping up. Only the first arc was non action focused.
The series is much of a battle manga as AoT or Chainsaw Man.

It'd be easier to just agree that we have different perspectives on what makes something a battle manga. Being unconventional or having deconstructive tendencies don't change the fact these series are centered around flashy fights.

i mean. Has Neverland really only had maybe 2 big gun fights. And even then, for the most part those gun fights are no different than a gun fight that you’d see in any standard action film.(or to compare it to a fellow comic, not different than say a Walking Dead comic, or a Deadly Class comic).

I mean, didn't hxh only have one arc about fighting ants? One arc can't take up the majority of a series can it?

Aso is working on a new series "more interesting" than Saiki
Saying "more interesting" than Saiki is really raising the bar high for me. Saiki was a brilliant comedy that could've went on for many more years for me without feeling stale or boring. I never felt like there was a dull moment or a chapter that didn't hit for me. Hopefully it'll be another comedy.
So we are 3 months in 2019 and Shonen Jump+ ended or axed:
-Sekai Seifuku!! Shrimp Kingdom after 36 chapters
-Tomogui Kyoushitsu after 39 chapters
-8LDK: Kabaneshi no Ou after 23 chapters
-Karadasagashi Kai after 44 chapters
-Saguri-chan Tankentai after 35 chapters
-ROUTE END after 54-55 chapters
-High Risk Mission Therapy after 60 chapters
-Nano Hazard after 25 chapters
-Suginami Toubatsu Koumuin after 34 chapters
-Muhyo to Roji no Mahouritsu Soudan Jimusho: Mazoku Magushi-hen after 19 chapters (was planned as short)
-Shinotori after 22 chapters
Saguri and High Risk Mission Therapy will both be deeply missed by me. Hopefully both authors will come back soon with new works. Ona side note though, at least Jump+ recently got Spy x Family. Its first chapter was really on-point. The perfect combination of humor, serious, plot, lightheartedness, and action. I can't wait to see its next chapter

wow Ne0;lation going all emotional for its backstory arc and no signs of stopping. I can only think this bodes well for it continuing for a way long time.

I'm still enjoying both, but I'm a bit concerned for the futures of both Yui Kamio and Last Saiyuki if they don't solidify a main plot/genre or pick up the pace of the plot a bit, respectively. I enjoy random SOL, delinquent fight-of-the-week, romcom type things, but I can see this not being the Jump audience's cup of tea. I wish this could develop into a gender-swapped version of Rokudou no Onna-tachi with a bunch of delinquents falling for Yui and occasionally for the MC. I like Last Saiyuki, but I just hope it's not going to lose the Jump audience's interest by taking too long to lay out its groundwork.

I thought Last Saiyuki has a solid and clear plot, motivation, and direction for it to go.

Yui Kamio needs something to make it interesting. I dont really see how its doing any sort of job beyond the bare minimum of a kind of borderline pervy school romcom or something of the like, its kind of silly and just uninteresting and dull. Dont really see We Never Learn fans embracing it.

Yeah, I disagree. I think Last Sayuki is pretty solid and definitely one of the best debuts of a series in the last years. Clear objective and motivation, characters, the art is quite good and unique and worldbuilding is pretty nice. I'm really enjoying it so far and I hope that it gets established in the magazine.

My bad, should've added some commas or done 2 separate sentences. The unclear plot/direction portion was for Yui Kamio. I'm more worried about how the WSJ audience may enjoy the pacing of Last Saiyuki. I'm really enjoying the ride and I like how they're taking time to really showcase the powers and how monsters appear, but I'm just a bit worried that it's not quite as fast-paced as some of the other WSJ series. This chapter seemed perfectly paced to me, but I know the first few were a tad on the slower side, so I'm just hoping that didn't cause anyone to give up on it prematurely.
