There's a fair level of context involved. The author is known for having a... dark sense of humor, to put it mildly. You also have to enjoy the characters, and enjoy seeing their reactions. Part of it is also that Denji is an adorable loser. He's more relatable than most MCs out there, also.

It's either something you're into, or not. It's cool either way.

Thank god, I was seriously thinking I was the only one who thought this while everybody was enjoying, this? I mean, maybe I'm also too old or something but I don't understand how people defend that kind of gross out of nowhere thing as characters being realistic and different. If this is what different means, lol, what a shitty concept people has about it. And I know reality is gross... But it doesn't need to be every single chapter. That's just straight up trying to get the attention from the reader with bizarre stuff rather then with the story itself.

Out of curiosity I read the last CM chapter and now I hope that an army of japanese parents will demand the cancellation of CM. That shit was gross and there is nothing humorous about it for me.

And asking for it to be cancelled is pretty messed up, luckily Jump doesn't really give in to stuff like that. If they did, all manga would be cancelled because someone would find something they deeply dislike about each series.

It would be one thing if you were reading the magazine in japan or on the old viz weekly service and found it gross/not worth being around but you guys are all talking about early leaks, reading the chapter is entirely on you.

Not only that,reading a series writen by Fujimoto and get surprised about weird things happening in it.
Also we are talking about a magazine where in a series a women become a zombie and eat her baby or some things in Dragon Ball (like the androids or some jokes at the begining).

Every one of his dreams that he's managed to achieve has disappointed him in some way. His first major dream was to feel boobs, but once he finally does he learns the girl was wearing a padded bra, etc.

Him getting his first kiss and being puked on plays into the series-wide running joke. You don't have to like it, but please stop with the overreactions.

I think people are just used to the typical "fucked up shit" from Chainsaw Man so far, we've seen people be chopped to pieces, and bashed flat, people assimilated into a mass zombie devil. You get kind of desensitized to it, and since it's so far outside of reality, it doesn't affect you as much. Vomiting into someone's mouth is more relatable because it's kind of tame by comparison, and kind of grosser as a result.

Denji is relatable to our (well, not everyone, but to me definitely) younger selfs. My younger self wanted to kiss girls, wondered what breasts felt like, etc. He has normal teenage aspirations/desires, and that's kinda refreshing, what with all the Pirate Kings, Magic Emperors and being "the greatest superheroes" dreams out there.

Don't get me wrong, it was a very gross occurrence, but I'm sure there's people who made out in a drunken stupor that can relate. It's not so much a joke as it is a running gag throughout the series.
