Just skimmed through "Double Taisei".

Can't comment on the characters/story obviously, but it has great art.

So I read the first chapter of Double Taisei...

...What the hell was that? That was bizarre, and not exactly in a good way. Still, the chances of it not being axe fodder are practically invisible.

Double Taisei was actually very cool. The art is great and I see a lot of potential in Tai and Sei dynamic.

It's like hikaru no go~ish. I like it so far.

Space Naruto still packs too much details in 2 chapters. Also not surprised about hachimaru favorite food.

It's nice. The best shogi series I read but I didn't like any that I read before lol

I'll wait for more chapters to have an idea but I like the dynamic of tai and sei. It's also an interesting idea for this type of series.

I've enjoyed Futari no Taisei first chapter. Way better than Mononofu and the other one from last year. I have some hopes for it but I have my lesson learned from Last Saiyuki :emobirb

Double Taisei has nothing on Mononofu's Chapter 1 (still one of my favorites in WSJ), but it was decent. The dynamic twist is really good, which doesn't create a new YuGiOh/Rosario to Vampire but will instead forces both Tai and Sei to play at the same time. Interesting character angle, I kind of wish it wasnt a shogi manga, because I think all this wont be enough to succeed in WSJ. We will see.

My personal issue with Double Taisei (and the one I think will screw it over) is simply a matter of escalation. I mean, Tai is already being considered a super-prodigy, and Sei is apparently even better than him. Where's the conflict then? What mountain do they have to overcome? At best, they can include even better shogi players, but that sort of thing would just make the series comical in its levels of power escalation.

David-kun absolutely got axed. Majority of supporting characters were randomly showing up and the last chapter will just be the David-Venus wrap up next week. Too bad, loved this one to the core. Huge potential in this mangaka.

Oh, Hiroshi Shibashi, what are you doing? Kamio Yui Ch.10 is a literal mess in direction. Just when I thought some action would appear, they turned it all into a quiz and Twister competitions with random ecchi shots for no reason. I loved Mago and Illegal Rare hence the fact I stayed this far in reading, but that is it from me.

I think I am dropping Saiyuki as well, recent chapters started to bore me. The art is great, but it is too slow paced.

Good point, guess we will see. Chapter 2 will be crucial for this manga imo.

And that's why sport manga is problematic, this whole mountain issue and challenges to be overcome we find in virtually every manga of that type.
And so the stories are always the same with nothing new.

There is more to life than just playing. So while there will be drama from that aspect, there's sure to be drama from others as well.
We already got hints about Sei's tendency to get injured, his boredom, and that his mom probably has a money problem.

Wasn't the special announcement for Jimoto the Saikyo Jump thing? What else could it be, as it's obviously not ending lol?

Knowing David-kun is ending in the next chapter or 2 is super depressing. Now I'm going to have to rely on Yui Kamio for my gag manga fix, and it's not nearly as funny as David. Yui Kamio introduced some pretty strange characters today, still processing how I felt about that. Act-Age brilliant as usual, We Never Learn funny as usual, Last Saiyuki finally leading up to another monster battle somewhere. I fear it may have taken too long to get to this point. Not really feeling Samurai 8 still. Shogi series was pretty boring to me, maybe not as much as Momiji, but still didn't pull me in whatsoever. Chainsawman was pretty dramatic, but I feel like I always find myself saying we need more Power.

Unsurprisingly, Spy x Family was still better than pretty much everything else this week
