A standardized volume of Jump manga is 200 pages. Samurai 8's first and second chapters are longer than usual at 72 and 33 pages. The only way Chapter 7 would be included is if they bumped up the prince, which would a bone-headed decision since higher princes wards off purchases.
Again, you don't know, Jump release volumes with more chapters and pages than the usual many times, there's no rule about it, volume 43 of Naruto had 13 chapters included just to end in chapter 402 finishing the "Sasuke vs Itachi" arc, so i don't see why it would be a problem for Jump to do with a new manga from Masashi Kishimoto that they clearly want to be their new hit.

I don't know for shonen jump, but in another magazine (sorry) , Shuho Sato said something about the editing of his manga's content by the editors, without him knowing it before the publication in the magazine. But it different from forcing someone to do something.

That actually sounds way worse, to do that to someone’s work without knowledge or consent. Like artists have left publishers in the west over stuff like that (Alan Davis leaving early into Batman Year Two is an example that comes to mind straight away).

What I find amazing about toriyama is that he would just dick around building models all week and then finish the chapter in 1.5 days and submit it. helps that it was only 14 pages per but still thats pretty incredible
Toriyama's entire career is this bizarre shitpost of a guy who created the most popular manga in Jump twice, yet did so by basically accident.

Happens to the best of us.

I do like that Kanzenshuu say there’s only one instance of Toriyama ever really saying he was forced to continue. The whole piece goes a long way to dispel a lot of assumed knowledge, which I feel like is an approach missing from manga communities at large
Yeah. There's only one instance Toriyama mentioned he was forced to continue.

Toriyama was tired of writing, but editors pressed him to continue. At the end, Toriyama is grateful for this.

Fans of Dragon Ball Z should also be grateful, since this happened around the third year of the manga (Piccolo arc).

Yeah I’m definitely pleased. Like I enjoy the Buu arc a lot so I’ll always be glad it went as long as it did

Seems the main Samurai 8 push has finished. M+ lead banner, which was defaulting to Samurai 8 for a while, is now defaulting to Spy x Family. Now we see where things will go from here.

I get you're being facetious, but in what way is that the "main push"?

Wooow Samurai 8 isn't the lead banner on Manga Plus anymore! Clearly a sign that Jump doesn't want to push this failure anymore, of course after they read Rain Spectre thread about Samurai 8 on twitter they decided to stop the "pushing".

I meant that the main part of Samurai 8's promotion is now concluding. Obviously Shueisha is still gonna be backing the manga, but not as heavily since the initial hype has concluded.

The main promotion probably hasn't even started, wait until the first volume's release date comes.
I mean, normally that's what it would be like, but I feel the news of Kishi's return combined with everything leading up to the series beginning means the hype peaked with the first few chapters.

wow looking at the numbers if Spy x Family (640 786) was weekly it probably would have passed Naruto (658 786) by now Or I guess if Naruto wasn't getting daily chapters. Was not expecting it to be this popular lol

I don't think that the change of the banner in Manga+ should be something of big importance to say that S8 has stopped his promotion, specially because we will get a new colour page in his next chapters.
Also, Manga+ being a service that has Jump+ series and being SPYxfamily the new boom in the app and service, it´s nothing strange to see it being more visible on the page.

iff sxf was weekly (and performance stay consistent throughout, it will have 15 chapters by now, and will be at 1.3 - 1.4M

I feel like every time people discuss volume length they forget that they vary in size. Like with the ending of a series, there's always someone saying something like 'there can't be more than 4 chapters left or they'll need to do 9 more for the next volume' forgetting that stuff changes around and bonus content happens.

When has the beginning varied though? Those seem pretty standardized.

It doesn't matter what the standard is, wsj will do what they feel is best. If they want to promote an extra large vol 1 for kishimoto's big new series then they will.
Didn't Heiji already confirm Vol 1 was six chapters?
