Wasn't what he said specifically that Gotouge didn't like being addressed with female pronouns? Sure, that could mean 'I want to keep my gender private', but it could also mean 'I'm a dude, goddamit.'
Oooorrrrrr it could be because some people have a habit of acting really creepy around female mangaka. Someone literally sent a bag of used condoms to Paru Itagaki.

Also, if the latter were true, wouldn't Gotoge have stated him themself?

Streisand effect in action. The person who tweeted that "Gotouge prefers gender-neutral pronunce" has good intentions, but the only thing it did is to reignite the gender speculation and give it another talking point. The author never go out of their way to be vague. It's the fans who can't help but turn such a trivial thing into a big deal.
Now there are people going around to insist that Gotouge is a man due to the mangaplus interview. They miss the point entirely.

Twitter guy from Shonen Jump showing how to not manage social media:

-Post that all other anime/manga deaths combined are irrelevant compared to Ace

-Of course many people don't agree with it

-Gets mad because of it and try to give moral lessons on twitter

-Have to apologize because got probably yelled by the boss

:P

I'm still baffled as to how this incident even started.

Most ppl cared more about Luffys reaction than Aces actual death. He was barely in the manga

LOL did that really happen, that's hilarious. I don't understand why companies and brands seem to let edgy teen interns shit post and argue with people using the company social media accounts lately.

After Spy x Family I'm more willing to read Jump+ series, before I didn't have much enthusiasm. So, what do you guys recommend? I prefer if it is on Manga Plus, but not necessarily, it is just that my japanese readings backlog is immense.

Jigokuraku and Summer Time Rendering are great reads.

I'm liking Spotless Love. I also really liked Soloist in A Cage but that seems to be on indefinite hiatus so rip

Taking in count your taste: "Saotome Shimai wa Manga no Tame nara!?", "Mone-san no Majime Sugiru Tsukiaikata" e "2.5 Jigen no Yuuwaku" that is by Ikezawa Haruto using a new pen name.

The last two recently got picked by scans.

So, out of boredom, I binged TSS.

That was...really weak.

I'll say this, Tanaka and Matsuura have a decent grip on action. The panneling is consistently pretty strong and dynamic, the art is fluid and, on a writing side, Tanaka manages the powers pretty well. Every character has a very distinctive set of techniques, and in terms of how they're used, there's a fair bit of ingenuity (Jin's powers aren't just "shoots electricity" for example). In terms of doing the "battle" part of battle manga, I think the series technically succeeds.

On the other hand, holy shit is the manga uninteresting.

TSS is a barren wasteland when it comes to any actual writing. From the beginning, I question Tanaka's decision to have no ongoing storyline and instead just focus on being a "fun manga", but that could've worked had the scenarios been interesting and well-developed. Only...they're not. Every scenario presented thus far has been really flat and one note, consisting purely of Jin and friends fighting through random barely developed bad guys to accomplish a singular goal of some kind, with no real deeper insight or twists at any point. The only thing Tanaka tries to do is include bits of social commentary...only they never work because he never elaborates on them, they're just...there.

And in terms of characters, they're actually worse. Not a single one of them feels unique or interesting, they're mostly a bunch of very basic tropes with zero depth. Jin is easily the worst, the guy is a complete and utter blank slate in spite of being the protagonist, and the fact that his one motive seems to be the exceptionally corny "protecting mah friends" doesn't help.

Overall, the whole thing just reads to me as a middle-schoolers idea of cool, a lot of flashy colors and cool powers, but nothing in the way of actual substance. It's unimpressive in every way, which makes me kinda shocked at how many people reacted with sadness when I said it was failing on twitter.
