So happy for KnY, i remember the days when nobody gave a single f about the manga and everyone telling me how generic and boring the series is. This is probably the most surprising hit i've ever witnissed since im following Jump which is 10 years. The success still feels unreal to me.

In somewhat related news, Kimetsu LN also made it into top 10 of the year, with more than 400,000 units.

There was one really significant event involving another country happening in that time period, but no one would never have the balls to touch on that.
Yeah, almost forgot about that I guess I was almost successfully brainwashed by Japanese media :derp, and just like you said, but I think most of them don't even know or bother to know about it.

Shueisha making BANK dominating more than half of this list. OP, KNY and MHA all have their 2019 volumes in this list while TPN and HQ missed it by 1 and 2 volumes, respectively, not to mention the ridiculous amount KNY's volumes sold. Also, if anyone wants to make a shogi manga, they should take notes from 3-gatsu no lion.

What I'm waiting for is the official KnY twitter and all that to say something. They have to, right?

Dude, same for Jujutsu Kaisen! People hated JK and loved Noah's Notes. Oh, how the tides have changed now...

Hard to say since we can't see any other series outside the top 10 but the ones within the top 10 account for 50.1 million copies.

OP 92 was extremely slow, it took over 3 months to get to the 2 million figure, while volume 93 sold way better from the start.

I still don´t understand it, why should Shueisha lying though about the sales numbers? Also Oricon is a source with everyone use in the last years, something is totally strange here. Even if we add the all Digital sales, why KnY has only almost 11M sold via Shueisha version but in Oricon version where the digital doesn´t get count, KnY already sold over 12M?? I hope this mess up getting clearned up in the next days, either Oricon or Shueisha probably make a mistake with the sales numbers.

Yeah, but... did people just not buy it? Skipped ahead to 93?

Lmao it is funny seeing some of our member(s) bash OP (or its fandom) whether its on twitter or reddit. You know who you are :teehee

What ever happened to good sportsmanship? Even if its a vocal minority of OP fans that are toxic, that doesn't mean you have to bash the OP series or generalize all OP fans as being toxic. You guys do realize you look just as bad as those toxic OP fans (that are in the minority).

I’m more willing to trust Oricon since, they’ve been my official source for years, and plus, for the past couples months people have been adding together the sales of One Piece and Kimtetsu themselves to see who would win, and their number are not far off from the numbers released today. On top of that, today’s numbers seem to fall right in line with the whole “Kimetsu No Yaiba has sold 20 million copies total” report from a week or so ago. Meaning it should have sold somewhere around 12Mil this year based on that info release.

Safe to say they made an error. It doesnt make sense for them to lie. We have to wait for Shueisha's response still.

I think we can blame Shueisha on the sudden bad blood. Everyone already accepted Kimetsu would be 1st this year, then Shueisha went and dropped the bombshell with their own numbers, effectively sparking a feud between OP fanbase and, let's be honest, people hating OP.

Edit: the memes are on full force

I’m an insanely Huge One Piece fan. But I’m extremely happy to see that an underdog series that nobody expected would ever be in the top 10 best seller before the anime was announced, now somehow managed to dethrone the king of manga, even if just for one year.
It’s a really cool feat to see happen.

There is toxic fans on both sides. But it seems like we’re seeing it WAAAAY more on the One Piece side, from fans who wanted to see One Piece streak keep going until it’s end.
