So nothing really. I doubt Oda would want to speak out against Shuiesha's word even if he is being encouraging but fans will see it one way or another. Either way I told you this would happen and now there's going to be a divide between when source is more legit. Would should be a cause of celebration is not strife between warring fractions. I feel sorry for sites like ANN and the like who reported the article because now they'll have to report Oricon's numbers on top of that causing more confusion.
Agreed but I dont feel that bad for ANN tho

To be fair he doesn't really say anything about the 1# total ranking only in 2017 when it was for 10 years at being 1# did he have something to say. The only other times in which the rankings made headlines was when Attack On Titan beat in in half year sales in 2014 which had the author go on twitter and thanking everyone for support.
I do remember that, but this occasion is Oda talking about KnY momentum and its power (also his lol). So either way I think is a win-win situation here.

And about those sites that reported Shueisha's words, big offf. Specially comic books who has been reporting yaiba's sales for a while.

Thank you for the 1st place for the single volume sales! I'm honored!"
Assuming this line in particular is correct it would mean Oda acknowledges Oricon's report as legit, and as such by default the series-wide yearly report.
I have no idea how Shueisha will (or if at all) respond to this, but at this point I have no reason to doubt Oricon in the slightest.

EDIT: Got confirmation from my group's translator, Oda is indeed thankful for winning the volume category.

Just hope we get an early ToC tonight. Really eager to know the premise of Jump's savior Zipman.
Jump already had a savior once, but it was sadly forsaken. Rest in peace Double Taisei, you will be missed
by dozens of us!

Crossing fingers for Yozakura and Mitama. I really need them to escape the bottom 3 (since Beast and TSS are ending either in this or the next issue)...somehow.

Well at least 1 of them should be able to avoid the bottom 3 automatically since TSS and Beast Children are still around. However, I'm really curious to see what's going to fill out the bottom 5 this week, and especially next week if both Beast Children and TSS end in issue 1

Yeah, I meant this not counting those two, since they are ending and are wholly irrelevant now.

I think One Piece will not get the first place in 2020 too.

My bet is:
1 - Kimetsu
2 - One Piece
3 - Jujutsu

It's very unlikely, but what would Shueisha do with Samurai 8 if both Mitama and Yozakura do/sell decent enough? Move it to Jump SQ? Zipman, Agravity and the rest of the newbies that will come soon won't have their Vol 1 at least until April or even May, which puts pressure.

There's gonna be some stuff ending soon so no need to polish the axe yet.

TL from Oda's full statement:
Is this an official account? Because they flat-out state that Kimetsu won the yearly sales in the fourth tweet.

It's nothing official. Just reflecting Oricon data and numbers.

Obviously not. They even state it in the bio.

Not necessarily. I think Oda was taking the easy way out by only mentioning OP being first in individual volume sales, which is something all parties can agree upon. It doesn't mean he acknowledges Oricon yearly data, or deny it.
My bet is Shueisha will either adopt the same approach, or ignore the issue altogether. There is really no need for them to respond to Oricon.

Weird how both Kimetsu no Yaiba’s and One Piece’s twitter accounts are still remaining silent about this whole situation. Wonder what’s going to happen once one of the two is gonna say something. They probably don’t even know how to handle the situation

EVERYONE interested in WSJ ranking and sales follows this thread. I bet a ton of anons, redditors, and Twitters user are lurking at this very moment, waiting for any (mis)information to drop then repost them on their respective platforms. Just see the current number of users and guests.
