Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Oh look, at close-up shot of a hand in the color spread, that's another cross on the "Zipman Repping Horikoshi"-Bingo card xD

Does world trigger still sell well?
Iirc it reached a new peak in sales after coming from its hiatus which is very rare to see. It does sell well and hopefully gets a reboot.

Oricon lists Quintuplets as the 5th highest selling manga of the year so harems can sell fine
Because the anime gave the manga a huge boost for more sales and backlog (which is bizarre when that anime is so average). In WNL case, not nearly as much. (similar to Dr. Stone)

I think at least Stone's boost is a bit visible.

WNL boost (or lack of it) seems more in line with what Yuuna and HZ did. Kinda surprising, but it doesn't help it got a meh adaptation sadly.

Quints had the advantage of 1. A bunch of high-profile seiyuu, 2. Having very little advertising before its anime was a thing and 3. Being a generally better quality manga. Once the anime was out and people were aware it existed, it catapulted in popularity since the thing which boosts sales is, at the end of the day, exposure. The idea of "I have to read this" and the resulting factors. It also is less waifu-bait-ish with an actual ongoing story and very little fanservice, which gives it wider appeal beyond just romcom fans.

WNL, by comparison, was well known already by virtue of being an established Jump series, so the impact of the anime was somewhat neutered as it was, and, as a manga, it's just a very good romcom built in the mold of Nisekoi. It being lower than the other two members of the Poorboi trio (It, Quints and Kaguya) is almost to be expected.

I mean, the only things you said are subjective points outside of the first two points which are objective. XD The rest are really just opinions, which well, you really dislike the romcom genre from what I remember per that tweet thread about gotoubun that you made. haha

To be fair, it got more than I expected since its total numbers this year are bigger than last year. Yunna and Zumou had much less, I think.

I honestly wonder how a new romance manga in Jump will be able to find success. WNL was able to do well in large part to being something of a replacement for Nisekoi, but it's largely shown itself as just a mid-card title while competing series Quints and Kaguya have utterly trounced it in terms of popularity. If Jump wants another romance hit, I think they'll have to something different this time.

The color page of Zipman is really interesting, good colors, angle and etc, also, it reminds me of Juuki Ningen Jumbor by Hiroyuki Takei (Shaman King) from 2006:

I think in fact Zipman is the first mecha series on Jump since Jumbor, just lets not wish the same fate, Jumbor was cancelled with 10 chapters lol

IIs elementary, Watson. JUMP just needs it to be a BL Action Manga and it will be successful.

Yeesh, what the hell did Jump have against Takei? First they force him into ending Shaman King before he could actually write an ending, then just two years later they cancel him in 10 chapters? And people say the current treatment of veterans is harsh.
