Read Undead Unluck a few hours ago and it was GOOD. A SOLID GOOD. GOOD first chapter. It seems the reception on M+ is good as well. See you guy's always jump to conclusions. That sexual stuff wasn't even that bad. Just a bit of sexual comedy. That part where Andy said "Guess we gotta bang" was funny, in my opinion. (Sorry if my opinion doesn't align with yours D': ) Its probably gonna be a reoccurring thing though so if you really have a problem with it drop it now. I read the One Shot like a month ago but I can't remeber if those battle stuff where in it. Either way if its gonna be a comedy/battle I'm all for it. More gintama like stuff for me plz 😂

Man I'm really hoping it stays

No idea what to expect. The one I'm more hyped is the one from Tabata's assistant.

My hype still lies in Witch's Guardian. I have a hunch this is going to be the first Jump success of 20s.

Finally we'll see what is MASHLE about. I've read that the plot seems to be "use muscles in a magic world" and some people here commented isekai (there is nothing to say this is going to be an isekai). If I've read correctly the plot, what it reminds me is to...Black Clover. With Tanaka Seiji as the MC.

CHAINSAW HYPE
CHAINSAW HYPE.

It really seems that Mitama is really comming into it's own. I really hope it lives.
The Agravity chapter was fun, but was nowhere near as good as the masterpiece that was the last chapter.
UxU was entertaining, and it honestly has a great premise, but I felt it was lacking something. I'll stick with it for the next few weeks to see how things progress. The whole mosiac thing reminded me of Dark Schneider from Bastard!!

I feel like I'm the only one really enjoying Neverland still. It had its down moments, but the last few chapters have been pretty good.

Undead Unluck, eh, it's a shame because the main concept is kinda interesting, but I heavily disliked the tone, humour and characters. Will keep reading for a while, but really wasn't into it.

I think I will drop Zipman after next week, it's not bad exactly (it might be overall better than Agravity, which had chapters I hated and chapters I really enjoyed), but it's so completely uninteresting for me.

Mitama continues to be really fun and Yozakura is... there.

Also putting my hopes in Witch's Guardian out of this new batch.

And yes, the guy gives me Dark Schneider vibes. Seriously love Bastard so much

MC looks good and i'm very interested in potentially being a isekai.
Don't think I have ever read an Isekai from WSJ. My memory might be fucking with me. I don't count Psyren as an Isekai since it's in the same world technically

Okay, the first chapter/finalized premise of Undead Unluck is actually pretty damn nice, in my opinion.
It's a great twist on a concept I had forgotten but is divine knowledge between mangaka and editors - for all lucky pervert scenes (or just perv scenes), there must be divine judgment. With a gain there must be a loss. Very important in harem/rom-com/ecchi. This MC does over-the-top ecchi stuff and he gets blown up and sliced to pieces. Genius, unironically genius

This has been for me the best chapter of Zipman to date. Very interesting chapter.

I'd say Jujutsu Kaisen has had the strongest chapter this week.
But Zipman was literally introducing a new girl last chapter, and now this chapter their entire school morphs into a gigantic villains base, what the heck? This is like taking Horikoshi's "Art is my manga way" to 200% and throwing away all semblance of a sensible storyline/worldcrafting. Or is this just how toku shows work so we'll allow it?

I can see Undead being well received on Japan, since the pacing was actually good and most people within the target public probably don't see a problem with the jokes. For me the 'jokes' were too much and I'll probably be passing on it.
As for the other new series (including the one with ~20 chapters), sadly I feel more and more uninterested by them. Mitama is the one that interest me the most but I feel like the author has some problems on doing impactful scenes and expressions and this is starting to hurt my enjoyment of the series.
MItama's impact-scenes this week were amazing. It's just probably not for your tastes, that's all.

So Undead opens with a lazy edgy suicide gag, the zombie guy is completely sentient and is open about his enjoyment of sexual assault. The series is built up around the MC constantly having to grope her to keep the plot moving and even laughs off her directly saying she doesn't want it but it doesn't matter because the plot necessitates it.
Not to mention the pacing was completely all over the place.

Also the LOLHESNAKEDSORANDUMBXDXDXD was lazy when Fairy Tail did it and it's still lazy now.

I really really hated it. I'm not going to talk about it anymore. Can't wait for it to be cancelled.
Can't wait for everyone's salt when Undead Unluck outsells KnY and OP to be top manga 2021!

Yeah,Zipman is my favorite new series but I didn't really enjoy this chapter. It didn't make much sense and up the ante out of nowhere. It also didn't have much interaction with the brothers and they were only slightly featured. Very strange and poorly paced.

I think with series like Chainsawman, Agravity Boys, and Undead Unluck, we are seeing post modernism creeping into Jump. It's frightening.
Can you elaborate on:
  1. What definition of post-modernism are you referring to?
  2. How is post-modernism creeping into WSJ via those series?
Chainsawman is a non-formulaic story told with a cinematic lens.
Agravity Boys is a gag manga set in space.
Undead Unluck is a raunchy battle comedy. Reminds me of (from Bakuman) biker-mangaka's delinquent manga + Double Arts lol.

Don't see how any of them are post-modern. They're just different.

I think is just more of a reflection of the current Jump readers base being formed of more adults or young adults than kids, these more edgy and crude series, you can find all of them in more mature shounen and seinen magazines.

Quite sad how traditional gag mangas are really underrated here, you can't even say anymore that is Manga Editors not caring about the genre, its just that readers aren't much interested in, of course the weak beginning of Mitama also plays a big factor in this probably.
Most Westerners don't have a grasp of Japanese humor beats, due to lack of exposure. I doubt some of them even know gag anime/manga is a genre. Hence lower audience. Pretty straightforward although I also wish Mitama took over Boruto and DBS in terms of views :zomg

Glad you liked. I think the panelling could be way better, it just fell flat. (Also please tag the spoiler of Zipman, people will get mad at you )

I kinda understand what you're saying with post-modernism, but I'm not sure if you're being ironic. Can you clarify?

It doesen't really work when Andy has no reaction to what happens to him...

Also, regarding Zipman...kinda? I'll admit my knowledge is mostly limited to W and onward Kamen Rider, but the episodic stories do tend to have that kind of structure (though with more focus on the ongoing narrative).

KnY and OP
I wouldn't say there must always be divine punishment, at least not to the one's that don't really deserve it. One of the complaints of early Yuuna was that it fell to cliché of having our MC get in a lucky perv scene by accident and having him get beat up by the girls. Of course, Yuuna eventually dropped these elements quite quickly and it was all the better for it.

I'm still trying to understand what this guys means with post-modern. I think he was complaining sometime about the moto from WSJ not being on there anymore, so that's probably it.
