Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Keep in mind that, in my country and some other European countries:

- people are allowed and even advised to go walking or biking, alone or with people who live under the same roof, because sunlight and physical activity can help boost the immune system and also being out in nature reduces stress;
- there is (has been) a shortage of protective masks, so using them for yourself while the doctors and nurses need them so much harder would be really freaking selfish. (Everyone who still had masks was asked to donate them to the hospitals.)

As long as those people in the parks are not gathering in large groups or making direct contact (a distance of 1,5m is advised), they are doing exactly as the government asked them to do. That's not something they deserve to be ridiculed for, no matter how 'mental' you might find it.

(Unless you are talking about a country like Italy, which is in complete lockdown. There, people have been asked to stay home unless absolutely necessary.)

That doesn't prove anything. They could continue the one-shot for the movie and then go further beyond. Nobody said this one movie would cover the entire series.

So the one-shot isn't going to be part of the series? Huh... :blink
On paper going out is fine as long as you don't interact and keep your distances, but that is not what is happening. That's my point. Not even in Italy, where the measures are supposedly stricter. I've seen so many photos of my country and other western countries of parks filled with people, streets full, gatherings at the beach etc., that's the stuff I'm talking about.

Here's the MHA concert and once again, Bones does not disappoint. My only one dissappointment might be that Kei Shindou didn't step up to the plate, because I was curious how she would have sounded. Instead, Chrissy Constanza stepped in. And SHE'S GREAT!!!

I think Bleach's final arc might just be too long to do seasonal, and I can't really think of a natural stopping point. Not to mention one of the main problems with long-running anime is having to stall for the manga, and that won't be an issue now.

I saw more info about Bleach and Burn the Witch on r/Bleach
  • Bleach anime is in pre-production.
  • The host quizzed Rukia's VA. She remembers that Rukia is in the 13th Division.
  • The 20th Anniversary logo was designed by Kubo himself.
  • They are thinking about potentially taking next years' art exhibition to other countries.
  • Voice casting for the Sternritters was done recently. Kubo was involved.
  • Nakano (WSJ editor-in-chief and Kubo's 2nd editor) loved the BTW one shot and wanted to make an anime immediately, but it wasn't long enough.
  • Noel's VA says she is a fan of Bleach. She used to read it back in her school days.
  • Burn the Witch manga will be a sequel to the one-shot, starting from 1 day after the events of the one-shot (so the one-shot is still canon).
  • Burn the Witch anime (actually an anime movie) was worked on simultaneously with the manga. For this to happen is very rare. The director woked closely with Kubo.
  • Sternritters and Burn The Witch characters coming to Bleach Brave Souls
  • The Burn The Witch one-shot is now free to read on the Shonen Jump+ app.
  • Morita (in character as Ichigo) says he's sorry that it took so long for Bleach to come back.
  • More announcements to come on the Shonen Jump channel soon.

Golden Wind with 17 volumes (so we are more or less as length) was compressed in a season of 39 episodes, it is not impossible.

Bleach has an okay stopping point, right around the middle of the arc after 100 chapters is when Ichigo joins the war, and while it's mid-fight it would be a very Bleach thing to stop there for a break (remember they cut away from fights at random points for whole filler arcs in the past). If it's Pierrot though it'll probably just be one long continuous run, especially if it replaces Black Clover.

Seeing Samurai 8's promotion compared to Burn the Witch, I don't think their situations are very similar. Samurai 8 was anticipated to be the next big long-running hit, they promoted it in hopes that it could be a huge long term success and pillar for WSJ. Burn the Witch's main project however seems to be the movie, and the manga is happening to promote the movie and provide it with more content.

So I read the Burn the Witch one-shot...

um...

I can't stand the blond girl. I don't like the pervert. I'm indifferent towards the dark girl... no, scratch that, I don't like her anymore. She's too eager to execute people.

(Also, I have trouble understanding how this fits in with the Bleach universe? In Bleach, Hollows were agressive. All of them. Dead spirits that weren't agressive were called ghosts, and they looked human. Where do these spirit-Pokemon come from? Are they supposed to be spirits of animals or something? I'm so confused. IMO, they would've been better off just keeping this in its own universe and then it wouldn't have been an issue.)

I like the Broombuggies (great design), and I think the concept of disguisers is an intriguing one that has lots of potential for emotional moments... but that potential was squandered because the main characters just come across as heartless and the guy's feelings were treated like a joke. (Also, did... did the dragon go back into Sushi? Is that okay? I thought they were supposed to exorcise it.)

In short, unless there's a serious change in characters and tone, this one is probably not for me.

A decline is still a decline.
HQ has declined from being a 1+ million seller.
MHA and TPN have also declined and this is despite great anime adaptations still ongoing.
What is the problem here? If your peak is 600k selling 500k still means you're selling less, even if you're still selling well.
Can you explain to me where exactly you see it? The numbers of these series are perfectly in line with the trends of the previous volumes, CSM and JJK have also improved a lot.

Wasn't a fan of the pervert as well. I'm hoping Kubo changes that in the movie and the serialization.
Spirit animals exists in Bleach. Komamura exists in Bleach and in the final arc they show his Great Grandfather who is a complete animal

Charts are literally posted here with every new volume showing the graphs which clearly shows a declining trend for MHA, TPN and HQ in varying degrees. Feel free to go back in the forum and find them.

Huh?
Yes, the trends are in line...as in, downward trends. Volume 26 is following the trend for MHA because each volume has been pretty much selling less ever since volume 21 which was its peak (exception was volume 24, but that's probably due to the popularity poll). Same goes for TPN and Haikyuu.

They absolute nailed the performance from start to end. The song was amazing, the dance cuts were pretty good and the moments towards the end were very emotional. Overall some great stuff.

Haikyuu / TPN / MHA have sold a little less but it is normal, now Haikyuu and TPN are at the end of their cycle, the growing series continue to grow (CSM / JJK), Jigokuraku has sold well or badly exactly like the volume previous etc.

The only "strange" thing is the Kimetsu drop but that is much more likely due to being out of stock.

I'm not sure why this post would contradict anything I said

Ah, well, they're basing it off the copyright stuff on the website, which isn't an absolute indicator. It could still have another studio do it, but yeah, it's seeming less certain now.
