Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Not to mention Samurai 8 was pushed by WSJ harder than probably any other manga they've had for vol 1 & 2. Probably biggest push WSJ's ever done for a new manga, and it still failed.
Toriko was much more pushed inside the magazine lol

oh look.. another dead topic being discussed... again...

i hope UU had same trajectory between ToC and poll in this forum.. start to climb after chapter 7 and become favorite...

i always look out for newbie.. but so far, i only interest in Bone collection.. hope ghost writer as good as its tittle suggest..
so we got gag, echi battle and SoL/drama/romcom???

yoo.. we got Gintama in top 3 in japan twitter polling?? i never doubt that gintama is popular.. but so underrated in the west...
cant wait for new chapter and hibernate after that for 2 weeks...

Man, the Top5 race was really close! Glad to see WT making it Top5! You still got it, Ashihara! <3 <3 <3
If GoTW continues to stay last in the WSJ poll, I'm starting to wonder if they gonna wrap this up before ch.19 so that it follows Zipman swiftly to make space for new series. We might get a lot of early cancellation of new series this year since so many long running series also end this year.

I think he was being ironic.
If this was reddit then he forgot to use "/s".
Ah, then r/woosh, went over my head. I've just seen that posted unironically way too many times, all over the internet.

Jesus, that Top 5. Those series all seem to be hitting their stride. Shoutouts to Chainsaw Man and World Trigger, being able to compete at this level despite not being as popular as the other three. Guess it shows how many people really like them. Course, that’s not to discount OP, MHA, and KNY either.

Curious as to how much Spy x Family will pull once it gets a real chapter out. If Reddit’s any indication, it’ll definitely place Top 5.

Is Zipman’s 8 votes the most it’s ever gotten? I bid thee farewell. Guardian of the Witch will take your place. I think Summertime is low because barely anybody reads it here.

We Never Learn is so low, holy shit. Even Yuuna is higher this week, which I do not necessarily disagree with. XD This week’s Yuuna calls back to IMO Yuuna’s best chapter to date, so we’ll see how this one goes.

The popularity of Reborn always amazes me, even considering that I always found it rather mediocre.

If the study that produced it had not failed, I would also expect a sequel for him that adapts the last arc of the manga

By the title of the manga "Time Paradox ghost writer", it looks like it will involve time travel (which is a very complex subject). I don't know if there will be romance in the story.
I have a summer time rendering type of feel for the series

Speaking of which, I wonder what series we could've had become long runners if they got as much pushing as Samurai 8 did. We do occasionally get series that were almost hits but got unlucky with timing and such. I bet there's a bunch that could've become at least mid-magazine hits if they'd had that much promotion.

Just look at Psyren, it actually did become a long runner and for sure could've lasted longer if it had gotten an anime before ch 100 like many series do now.
The last saiyuki couldve survived with that 😔

Still hoping for a sport manga series ala "WT B-rank Tournament" style with team battles, replacement bodies so we can show some more hardcore scenes without being too gory and lots and lots of likeable characters with their own reason why they would join such a fighting sport game.

Toriko was much more pushed inside the magazine lol
Difference being, Toriko's initial popularity actually met that push pretty well.
It's first volume debuted with 60k+ numbers which was a high number and by the third volume, the sales increased to 150k before leaving the chart. Whereas, we are all aware of the overprinting of S8's first volume and it's stagnated sales with literally zero growth.

I think Haikyuu!! is a bit underrated here. Furudate has been on fire in the last 3 years.
It's not? Lol, a lot of people LOVE HQ!! and it's very well known and loved in the manga / anime community in general.

There’s an element of popularity to this as well. Even if the series weren’t on fire recently, it would be a tall task beating out HeroAca, Kimetsu, and Chainsaw Man. Some series have done it before (Act-Age), though the circumstances were different. In general ot a lot of people in the West watch sports anime, let alone read sports manga.

I should watch the series sometime.

Hmm... should we expect Shoseki daily rankings to show up? With the whole state of emergency thing? I know the charts tend to lag behind at this time, but we’re 4 days behind.
