Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Idk but I found the kabooming hype asf. There is a thing about Chainsaw man fights that just pull you in. That one can be excused imo. It didn't feel like a drag at all. Like my jaw was just dropping in these recent chapters.
Exactly, Chainsaw Man's fights have a lot of energy to them. I never felt that it dragged for me, In fact, I felt quite the opposite; the chapters fly by so fast.

Agravity Boys debuted this issue, so it's not surprising people paid attention to it. As for Yozakura, the series got quite a number of people interested in it early on, so it's not surprising people are giving it votes in spite of the manga having underpreformed in terms of expectations.
Or maybe because people liked both of the chapters? If Mitama Secureity had start this week, i really doubt it would have these votes, and why would people vote for this week chapter just because they got interested in the manga early on? lol

Your jaw gets dropped just because all the Michael Bay explosions? okay, not saying it's anything bad (far from it) but 6 chapters of Reze and her magic pants doing kaboom the entire chapters got me a bit bored after a time kkkkk
It's the fight choreography. It's just amazing. Demon Slayers isn't. It hasn't been.

Like chainsaw man fights are blopdy and hype. Just like Toriko 🙂 Takes me back to Toriko days

Not that I know of. Could be just fan hype.

Stone Ocean turned 20 in a couple of days btw. You weren't my favorite Jojo part, but I did like your ending.

Seems that this interview is the reason for it

Why does he have to go this far to see if people are interested? I don't understand. Do they not know how popular Jojo is?

They don't care how many people post memes they got off pirate sites. Just compare the sales between parts 1 and 5. Even 4 and 5 shows a decent drop I remember being talked about when they released. Each part is selling less and less it's not surprising if the committee decided they're done funding it.

Guys, posting plot details (even with spoiler tags) of series with over three volumes is against the new topicality rules.

CSM has over three volumes released so far, therefore it's now off-topic to discuss it outside of sales, and analytics specifically.

Most anime series suffer in sales drop for their BD/DVD sales with subsequent seasons. They said more or less the same thing about part 5 (needs fan support) and it still happened. Who knows, there is a chance that part 5 did better than part 4 in merch sales. It wouldnt surprise me since part 5 seems to be one of the most popular parts in Japan (SDC being #1 ofc).

Part 6 will get announced in 2020 is what I predict and we may possibly see it air that year .
Seems that this interview is the reason for it

That's nice he addressed SBR and the possibility of CGI.

I need to see Stone Ocean animated. Pucci is arguably the best villain from parts 1-6 and that ending is sooo good

I mean other Asian markets like China and Southeast Asia (Korea is a major one). It's weird that Chinese market is only a third of French market when you compare their population.
Ah I see, my bad, interpreted wrongly.

I fairness, Yuuna is hindered by the fact that it isn't on M+, and Edited Mangas always drop hours later. Plus no one has the dignity to really stake a vote on it.
I vote on it every week since it always is some some of the ones which I mostly have fun reading haha

Chainsaw Man can't be stopped here. xD
Mitama Security's gotten itself a rather solid position. Beating out that recent WNL chapter is no small feat.
Also, poor Yuuna, it almost never gets any love here.
Wonder what's going on with Yaiba? Is it in a lull of sorts? I swore it'd be higher up considering the surge in popularity.
It really is. Surpassing that WNL chapter which was one of the best on the series is no joke. Good to see it getting a fandom here, comedies are always welcomed to me.

Do you guys think a modern manga could work with the "Monster of the week" format? Because I've noticed a lot of failed battle manga (hi TSS) try to pull it off, only to lose interest and get axed.

Does kimetsu no yaiba count as a monster of the week manga?

"Monster of the Week" works a lot better for children than teenagers or adults (they can enjoy the self-contained episodes without thinking that is filler). In fact, there are still many anime or series that use the "Monster of the week" format.

Currently, the ausience of WSJ is older. So, I don't know if the audience would tolerate that format.

Of course, it also needs to be entertaining for them. I mean, if it's boring, children won't enjoy this either.

I don't really see the connection between "monster/enemy of the week" with "modern manga", as if a episodic manga is supposed to be something old fashioned. (isn't like TSS failed just because it was episodic...)

Since the MH WSJ poll results kind of naturally encourage discussion of individual chapters, would it make sense for us to have a Weekly Shonen Jump MH Poll Discussion Thread at some point? So that we don't clutter the Results thread with discussion, but also so we can have more open discussion about why X series performed in Y way that week without breaking topicality rules?

Or maybe because people liked both of the chapters? If Mitama Secureity had start this week, i really doubt it would have these votes, and why would people vote for this week chapter just because they got interested in the manga early on? lol
In the surveys for the main WSJ magazine, new series tend to poll pretty well with their first chapter because most people reading the magazine check it out and will vote for it if it seems promising. Since the first two debuts in the MH Poll have performed decent to good, I actually feel like if the Poll existed when Mitama Security debuted, it would have performed at least as well as Agravity Boys did this week. And then maybe it wouldn't have done so hot the following week.

Zipman performed great here because most of people really liked or at least think it was enjoyable/cool, Agravity Boys was more a case of extreme divided opinions but the first chapter of Mitama Secureity? the reception was totally lukewarm here (and other places) with most saying it wasn't funny, it was boring, tedious and etc, i seriously doubt that it would have the same numbers of votes that Agravity Boys, specially when we're comparing a traditional gag manga (natural less appeal here) with action or more mainstream series.

Yeah, I think it's a little counterproductive to have a poll about current chapters and... not being able to discuss them and why they are in each position

That's true, it doesn't need to be a super detailed discussion about plot, but a more superficial where it doesn't really spoil things, just vague stuff should be allowed, at least after the results, the non plot discussion thing is a bit too much restrictive sometimes.

Agravity Boys had more people giving it votes in the Poll than people saying nice things about it in this thread. I don't think a similar outcome for Mitama Security's debut would be that far fetched.

Also, I think you're downplaying Mitama's initial reception. I made a post after Mitama Security's debut saying I thought it was hilarious and nine people Liked it. If all of us voted for Mitama that week, it would have tied with Agravity Boys' debut this week.
