Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Personally speaking, if I got a manga/book/movie from the future I am plagiarising it without a 2nd thought :evil. Evil is my middle name (it is actually Badass Sexy Evil Guy but that is just semantics)

Sales were surprisingly decent, but the TOC was very low.
Ah that sucks. I read it recently, and was surprised that it was axed so quickly. It seemed like something that could have gotten popular. It would be cool to see the author come back for a third try.

To be fair to Rain, I have seen people on other sites start to turn against the manga this chapter because the MC wasn’t completely punished for his plagiarism. I... struggle to understand why this series would have a harder time being successful when Undead Unluck opened with sexual assault for two or three chapters, but I dunno Japan’s culture. I think it could salvage itself for those disgruntled people by having the MC fail relatively quickly, as he tries to keep up with the expectations he made but never really earned.

I’m not sure about Chainsaw Man, as I haven’t read it, but in Death Note, Light not being a good person was kind of the point. Same with Endeavor in HeroAca. Their actions have meaningful, logical consequences that linger throughout the story, which we haven’t seen in Ghostwriter yet. I have faith in the manga, though. I’m still interested in the main leads.
But then you're wanting punishment for sasaki already with 3 chapters, the story has not advanced enough to see any kind of punishment. Endeavor's punishment was slow to happen and even then, it wasn't enough.
Understand is a manga about a guy making a mistake and trying to deal with that mistake.
If it were to have that wue Rain is charging, the story would not make sense.

You mean the same Japanese friend whose opinion I generally value and believe in? Even if I'm not 100% right, I'm still going to trust what she says the general reaction is from her side of the pond. One generally doesn't get over 11K in followers without being trusted.
Yonkou and SPY say so.

Undead Unluck's intro plot didn't revolve entirely around the harassment, the majority of the intro was showing off huge explosive fights with crazy powers. The harassment bits were quick gags, if you didn't like the harassment it'd maybe bring your rating down a bit, but you could still enjoy the crazy fights.

If someone doesn't like the plagiarism angle of Ghost Writer, then that's the whole manga ruined for them. If you can't get past that, what else is there? The sci-fi aspect is there to allow MC's plagiarism (and so far doesn't seem like it'll be too important otherwise), the cute girl shows up because of MCs plagiarism. The plagiarism is everything.

Yonkou and SPY say so.
Yonko and SPY are usually accurate sources, so that kinda proves my point. If anything turns up wrong it's almost invariably because the source they're using is wrong or inaccurate.

You don't get long-term achievement by just lying.

I'm glad all these people with non-Japanese flags on their profiles understand Japanese culture surrounding how plagiarism is viewed better than the Japanese author who came up with the idea, the Japanese artist who decided the series was worth their time drawing for, the Japanese editor who read it and thought it was good enough for submission and the other Japanese editors who approved it to run in Jump.

Friend nothing you, Rain and Kobi say to justify the fact that the Japanese did not like team paradox just because the theme is about plagiarism will be justified.
Sasaki being a guy who plagiarized a work that came from the future, is lighter than the ligth yagami that killed criminals by writing their names in a notebook.
Time paradox is a story about a guy who is doing wrong things but he will definitely be punished, but it won't be after 3 chapters.
You have a total right to dislike the work, but I still consider this reason meaningless.

But none of them are 100% correct. The Act-age announcement proves this.

Jump's promo text outright called the series "controversial".

I think that's evidence in itself to how plagiarism is perceived.

The Act-Age anime announcement is by all indications "correct". It's just that Yonko and SPY in an attempt to look like they were "cool" decided to leak it ahead of time on the basis of thinking that the Issue 26 announcement was about it and not the stage play. Which it was.

They weren't lying, they were just idiots.

This conversation seems to be going in circles. If TPGW has a terrible reception , theit will get axed/U19 like all the the other manga before it :pwned. Let's wait for its toc positions and volume sales

Also @Rain Spectre Having 11k followers doesn't mean much. They are many people on the internet who have as many/more followers by posting conspiracy theories, false rumours and the like. More followers is not equal to legitimacy

So? There's never been a controversial series to be successful in Jump? Glad no one complained about Yuuna or To Love Ru for sexual content or they would have been immediately axed I guess.

Ecchi is not controversial in the same way sympathising with a plagiarist is controversial. I'll leave it at that.

Global Moderator Notice:
Not this shit again.

If you have a source - link them, so everyone else can see it for what it is, just like everyone should do with their sources. In lieu of a credible link, please refrain from citing anything you cannot prove, as it only serves to incite others. This is not just about credible sources, it's about respect and courtesy for others' opinion.

We don't need to touch on this subject any more - this thread has already gone through it on several occasions and it's high time that lessons are learned. The same goes for those who want to continually trash you - that behaviour is also unacceptable.

It's clear there is a lot of passion for this thread/topic so it's disappointing to find this type of disruption time and time again. Please, respect one another. ~ Brandish

That reminds me. What are your sales predictions for the newbies that come out this month? Particularly MASHLE?

Mitama and Zipman I'm assuming same as last time, though probably even worse in Zipman's case, being over and all. Gonna be optimistic and say somewhere inbetween 20k-25k for Undead and Yozakura. Probably the same for Mashle.

Yozakura will get 18k
Idk what Mitama sales were last time, so I can't guess

I prefer to predict more the first day on Oricon, since Yozakura vol.1 was at #40, Undead at #29 and Agravity at #45, i think Mashle will start in at least inside the top 20 or even top 15 (If Yaiba don't ruin it)

I think Mashle and Undead will be 8-10k first week and total 15-20k in a month.
