Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

53 (43). BnHA Vigilante V8 (Jump+)

I realize that nobody did this yet. I'm mainly comparing the daily rankings here for the Jump Plus stuff, though. Interested in seeing what the weekly figures will look like. Dosanko Gyaru looks like it'll live, as it seems to be holding better than Boukyaku Battery. If so, I'm glad - I've been enjoying it.

Re-reading Act-age oneshot:

-What was the King Award? And since Act-age oneshot ended runner-up, what manga/oneshot won?
-Third entry from the spring one-shot mystery bag (mistery?). What were the other manga from that bag?

Goodbye Mini Skirt which also a Jump Plus title is on that list

>5. Chibi Maruko-chan (Volumes 1-17) - Momoko Sakura

does anyone know what happened to Chibi Shikaku-Chan? Did Jump cancel it?
Boring answer, but the author’s death kinda meant it had to stop, as she left no post-humous material to publish for it.

(edit: oh serinox had the same answer as me, i didn’t need to say this. My Grand Jump stanning required it though)

So, if Samurai 8 does do a lot better in the west, will that increase the chance of it being moved instead of cut?

Unlikely? Per Shinhei Lin, Heart Gear did vastly better in France than Japan (they even ordered a printing five times as large), but the series is already looking to canceled regardless.

A success in France is much different than a success in the United States, quantity wise. On top of that, a printing five times as large as Samurai 8's would be a very different thing than a printing five times as large as Heart Gear's.

I'd say that if Samurai 8 is a substantial international success, that could help its overall survivability, yes.

Miracles exist and 10 days after last chapter, we are getting another scanlated City Hunter chapter. So in theory only 30 chapters left.

France is one of the biggest(if not the biggest) market for manga. As much as people try to tell the manganime is big in USA, right now is the anime industry what is big there not the manga (aside 2 or 3 series).

I'm curious what series there are that we know have been longer than they maybe would've been because of foreign popularity.

I know there's a few anime that get more content due to overseas fans (and that number will probably keep increasing as licensing profits etc continue to grow), but I'm not sure about manga except some random speculation with no facts behind it (like some people thinking certain series perhaps got an extra final chapter because it was popular with viz readers or whatever).

MHA actually sells really well in the US, it's probably going to sell over 600k over there this year.

The first volume of Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga ranked #11 on The New York Times' monthly Graphic Books and Manga bestseller list released in early December.
The New York Times posted its first Graphic Books and Manga bestseller list in October, and it is one category of the newspaper's new bestseller lists.
Dragon Ball Super volume 6 ranked at #14 on the list in October, and My Hero Academia volume 21 ranked at #3 on the list in November.
The New York Times began publishing its graphic book best seller lists in March 2009. The newspaper stopped publishing weekly bestseller lists for its three graphic book categories in February 2017. The categories included hardcover graphic books, softcover graphic books, and manga.
