Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I honestly thought the pirates are for symmetry sake lol,

which is honestly what I would have done.
It ends up being because Shonen Jump usually works with 20 series (with rare 21 series), but there's no way of doing 3 symmetric columns resulting in 20 spots, so i go with 3 of 7 and the pirate ends up being used a lot in the 21th space

Commenting about the results, quite funny how Agravity Boys is doing so good, almost beat Mitama Secureity, expected the chapter to get more votes tbh, that final with the "pokeball" was great, thought that was better than ch18 that got in 3rd.

Yozakura rising a lot with this chapter, it was really good, one of the best of the manga and Yuuna also had a great and serious chapter, some good development coming in the next chapters.

My votes were for Mitama, Yozakura, Haikyuu, Yuuna and Samurai 8 (nice end of arc).

Questions, is there a genre/subject matter left uncovered in the Jump canon you'd like to see in the magazine? For ease of discussion, let's stick to concepts found throughout manga.

This week. But, given how terrible the fastscan groups are now, it's probably best to just hold off for the M+ release.

MS and JB were light-years better in terms of quality, but this was always going to happen once they bowed out.

Speaking of which, now that M+ moved back their releases by 6 hours, I'm wondering if they'll slowly phase into even earlier hours, and eventually, they'll release it on Saturdays, (Fridays in some parts of the world). If that happens, that would be very welcome.

never, unless Japan jump actually does it first (which is moot point, since that just shift the cycle, unless digital first)

which is why I have a theory that Japanese Jump is switching to a midnight schedule starting this year.

They did it for #6/7 but that was a Saturday release, which had a history of releasing on midnight

MANGAHELPERS WEEKLY TOC POLLS

Yuuna is there too, she's a ghost ;D

The new thread for the "Mangahelpers Weekly ToC Poll " is open: https://mangahelpers.com/forum/threads/mangahelpers-weekly-toc-poll-shonen-jump.3015501/

I tried to make something more robust with a "welcome" presentation and important details, the banner that i posted (my sign in full version) will be changed adding new series starting and deleting the axed or finished series. Next poll will start when issue #8 gets released

I hope you guys liked!
This is really cool.

Space epic.
Y'know a long-runner like a Star Wars battle adventure manga. Lightsaber esque weapons, adventures across planets and space, tons of unique species and lore.
I recently have gotten really into Cobra, and really find it surprising we haven't gotten more space opera in WSJ.
I hope that the failure of Samurai 8 won't dissuade Jump from trying again. Hopefully with Moue.
Agreed. A space epic would be such a good addition to WSJ. And the scale can be massive.

I actually think a series like One Piece but in space. An adventure series with a huge lore and mystery.

There is a series exactly like that running in a different magazine, FYI.

As for the space epic idea, I'm always down. I wouldn't mind if S8 improved on it some more, even. It has the potential to scratch that itch, but hasn't really gone anywhere with it yet. Since Toriko's last chapter, it's always been something I've craved.

If you're referring to Edens Zero, then I'll pass. I hated FT and don't even want to bother with this one though I've been told it's better.

Shimabu can actually do a space adventure one so well. The worlds he can create will be incredible.

Maybe a political thriller manga like Shoukoku no Altair type in WSJ.

That will be my wish.

The problem is how to make such a thing palatable to young boys.
Not that it can't be done (Magi sometimes did politics really well, Fullmetal Alchemist of course exists) just that it's not really a subject easily written for that demographic.

You forgot about AOT,

If it is written well i believe it will be successful. There are instances of series being successful.

Closest political type stuff we have in Jump would be the current arc of HxH. And I think Togashi only got away with that due to his status. No way would Jump pick up such a manga if it was a new mangaka. Though I would actually like to see such a thing.
