Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

The poll isn't about the taste of the thread, but the forum, if you're a user of the forum and read Weekly Shonen Jump mangas you should be able to vote for it without having to to be a "regular" of this thread or have to be obligated to make X number of comments just to be considered as "valuable" for the thread, A user that have 51 comments and years of the forum but don't make a single comment anymore is able to vote (which i have 0 problems with) but someone that have under that and actually comment in the thread from time to time is suddenly not considered "worth" to vote, thats my problem, but you do what you do.
Isn't the poll supposed to be something like WSJ's own ranking system? In their case, all votes they have are counted, and everyone should be able to vote right?

I never said the 50 post qualifier was for this thread, Shinuki.

If someone can't even bother posting 50 times anywhere on this site, then no, they don't deserve to participate in the polls.

Is that really asking too much?!

The poll is for those who take part in any way in MH forums and this forum particularly. It kinda defeats the purpose if an outsider just comes, creates an account and votes for his or her fav series.
It'll end up being no different to twitter polls.

Like i said, if someone posted 51 times with i don't know, 5 years of forum, and did nothing more for years, he is able to vote while others don't just because the number, that's my point, but you're the one who decides the stuff, the one month is nice, but i would maybe put 30 comments instead of 50

It seems we're not able to come to a consensus on this. What about 40?

Does that seem more fair?
You decide, but i would put 30, 1 month and 30 comments, like 1 comment each day, seems fair.

Man, reading this post makes me think of this:

Okay. One month, 30 posts. I'm compromising a ridiculous amount right now. My initial idea was one year, 300 posts.

1 year? this wouldn't rule out like half of the thread? kkkkk

Well, like I said, initial idea. Just saying, I've came down a ridiculous amount on this.

As an aside, I really do hate that this happened. The entire reason I handed the poll off to you was because I wanted to lessen my responsibility on it.

Now it seems I'm required again.

This week, Kimetsu has it's near-perfect Top 17 denied by the biggest romcoms of the past few years in Kaguya-sama and Go-toubun. God, this boost is fucking insane. I'm still surprised it's going this strong. I feel like every producer and their mother wants to get their anime adapted by ufotable now (though obviously the sudden explosion in popularity was caused by much more than that).

Spy x Family reaching 500k with volume two is pretty impressive, it got to this point so early in the series's life.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Also, some volumes Kimetsu backlog beat a new volume of Kaguya! That's actually pretty impressive.

Imagine if it had beaten Gotoubun as well...

OP 95 and KnY 18 are almost toe to toe, only by 70k. Right now in shoseki vol 18 is 1st and the rest are still in top 30, so it will have another strong week

Seeing Kimetsu continue selling like hot cakes makes me wonder when will demand be finally satisfied?

I'd think 1'800,000 per volume is when we will stop seeing these crazy numbers and demand will finally be satisfied, at least for now, maybe when the movie releases it will get a boost and get to around 2'000,000 per volume.

My reasoning is that:

1.- Shueisha decided to give volume 18 of Kimetsu No Yaiba a first printing of one million. (And that's not all, they made a second print run before even the first print was being sold! So Shueisha probably was a little super off here).

2.- As of now volume 1 has sold 1'708,000 -I took this info from the picture above my post- (All the other volumes hover around the 1'600,000-1'700,000 range.

3.- As noted in point #1 Shueisha printed 1 million volumes for volume 18, they either heavily underestimated demand OR they didn't have time/equipment to print the whole 1.7 mill+/- that demand for Kimetsu seems to have.
What I'm trying to say is that either Shueisha's analyst didn't predict that way more people than 1 million wanted KnY volume 18 OR (IMO the more likely scenario) that Sueisha couldn't fulfill the demand on time.

It's pretty safe to assume that whatever KnY's volume 19 first print run it will likely be very close to what the actual demand is unless Shueisha wants to continue "losing money" by not printing enough books to satisfy demand.

I guess, the tl,dr form of this post would be: What's your prediction for Kimetsu no Yaiba's volume 19 first print run?
Mine is 1.7 million.

Usual weekly considerations: Once again, no words for Kimetsu. The yearly volumes chart will look very interesting once again, but this year it will be much more fun. TPN 17 is on par with volume 16, so it'll probably reach 500k in its 4th week or stay a bit under that figure. OP 95 has had the serie's worst 4th week in a long time, it's even worse than volumes 92 and 94, so it getting to 2 million might take longer than I expected (also KNY 18 beating it is almos a sure thing already). SXF 3 is doing amazing, it has sold 130k more than volume 2 sold in its 3rd week, makes you wonder how big the series will get in the future. HQ 41 still doing better than volume 40, the difference being 36k in favor of volume 41. BC 23 is still a bit behind volume 22, seems like BC's downwards trend will be slow if it keeps going like this. JJK 8 and 9 keep doing well too, with a 28k and a 26k advantage when compared to volume 7.

I'd say 2M. Also I'm curious about the circulation numbers.

1.4-1.5 million.
I think Shueshia will keep the strategy of underprinting the new volume and just give it more reprints. Yeah, volume 18 will easily pass 1.7 million but I think its better underprint than overprint from a marketing perspective.
