Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

did that reallyy happen in Gintama? haha damn I need to read it someday xD

Edit: so after making this post.. I thought.. How there are some manga like Gintama and Reborn that sold super well in Japan and ... not that well outside of japan, like in most places they got cancelled (Even though in certain territories they got licensed again a couple of so years later, e.g. here in Mexico Reborn just recently finished being published, I know in Italy Gintama is being published..)

But still, makes you wonder why these mangas underperfomed in countries outside of Japan, like I get why Gintama did, maybe the humor was too Japanese, but why did Reborn got canned? It was your typical battle Shonen manga... Just a thought I had, since we were talking about a hypotetical manga that sold super well outside Japan, and these two titles came to mind because they are pretty much the opposite of what we were discussing.
Gintama wasn't low sales to my knowledge, it was that it was becoming too difficult to translate. Even Kewl admits he had to just wing it half the time due to how obscure some of the gags are.

If I recall correctly, VIZ dropped Gintama at a time when the company needed to make cutbacks. I think they happened to lay off members of the team translating it, and decided that continuing the series wasn't worth it.

Models are not actresses.
You might never knew if she had hidden talent after all people can change their career whatever they wanted if that's their dream.

For me it's very unlikely that they could find krone and i'm totally okay the actress if she could act well then it's fine.

Lmao, I recalled a chapter of Gintama back then parody bunch of J-pop singers that you must be into Jp showbiz to understand. The Vietnamese Manga Editor of Gintama back then (last I heard of him, it seems he got hired to do legit translation, god bless him) had to localise by replacing those J-pop singers with equivalent Vietnamese singers.
And about S8 sells better oversea than Jp, it's the same situation with Heart Gear. I guess that is acceptable to survive in Jump+. Thus, I think it wouldn't be too bad if S8 got moved to Jump+.

I assume that the same happened to Ichigo 100%? Viz dropped the series at volume 14, which came out right around the time of those layoffs (2010, was it?). This might also be the case for Bastard!!, but that may also be because of content.

About the Neverland controversy, I just enjoy how conveniently the whole idea of being loyal to the original work which was the main complain for a lot of Live-Actions has completely turned into they can do whatever they want because it's their work. Won't say anymore since that speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Is KnY about to have reprints this week in Japan? I'm pretty sure it's gonna boost the total sales even more!

Volume 19 got reprinted on the 20th already, but yes for the others. There's also another one planned for the middle of march.

The question is starting to become less 'will KnY beat One Piece's record?' and more 'will it do it by the half year rankings?'.

And to think just a year ago the question was 'will it reach Black Clover level?'.

Imagine KnY scores 38 million copies until the midyear. One Piece's record is 37,996,373 in 2011. Now KnY has scored 25,629,721 in 2020. That means KnY needs 12,370,279 copies to reach the record by midyear. And there are 12 wks to midyear.

Lemme predict this week's reprints will score 2 million copies. The reprints will also happen during mid-March, so 2 million copies again. And then the next volume (Vol.20) will be out on 1st May, so I'm gonna say 3 million copies during the week's Vol.20 release. So the prediction will result in 2m+2m+3m = 7m, and 25,629,721 + 7,000,000 = 32,629,721. And then there will be 9 wks remaining by midyear and KnY will only need 5,37 million copies for 9 weeks, which is an average of 596,698 copies/week.

HOLY SHEEEEET!!! KNY WILL BEAT THE RECORD BY MIDYEAR, BOIISSS!!!

I'm wondering how it compares to other stuff with a sales per volume metric.

Wouldn't discussing anything else go against the thread's rules? :P
Yup, thank a lot, fun police.
Anyway, what I intended with that reply was that I find what going on in kny right now is too tedious to have a discussion. At least, it's less boring compare to wnl nor as abhorrently dog turd as tpn.

Oh yeah, this fight has been...pretty boring overall, honestly. Last 2-3 chapters have been getting better for me though, and some of the foreshadowing was pretty well done.
I mean, the fight makes sense with what we know of him I guess, but it just isn't very fun. Might be better as a binge read though.
