Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Personally, I can't wait for Spy x family to reach the "longer narratives" the editor was talking about in its manga plus interview. The comedy and family moments are good enough by them self, but I can't really just get into it
The "Dog arc" was one of the longer narratives one and it was rather well done. It got set up, followed through and delivered in the end. It showed the cracks in the society Twilight has become Loid Folger as well as parts of his own and his Boss and team's past for why they are doing this job. For its adorable and funny moments SxF can be unironically dark sometimes.

Which chapter did it start and how many chapters did it last? I kinda stopped reading SXF around chapter 12/13

Jigokuraku's alright but it feels like the series is half infodumps about the power system (that's really not complicated enough to justify it).

Been looking at Yugioh stuff recently and holy shit, it got of lot of color pages once Duelist Kingdom hit.
It got color pages for chapters:
65, 71, 75, 76, 80, 82, 84, 92, 95, 100, 104
They were more spaced out beforehand and afterwards. Did Duelist Kingdom save Yugioh?

On Ch.17 until Ch.22, just 5 chapters, but it isn't episodic like the others "one story in one chapter" chapters.

French Manga Sales, 2019 report:

Overall growth of the manga market of 14.4% (in units). 19m volumes were sold in 2019 (16.6m in 2018). 2019 was the best year in history for the French manga market. (The fall in 2020 will be painful...)

RANK./LAST YEAR'S RANK. TITLE {NUMBER OF NEW VOLUMES (YOY CHANGE)} - YTD SALES (YOY GROWTH)

01./01. One Piece {4 volumes (=)} - 1,387,000 (+12.3%)
02./04. Dragon Ball & Dragon Ball Super {5 volumes (=)} - 950,000 (+39.6%)
03./03. My Hero Academia {5 volumes (=)} - 893,000 (+24.8%)

04./02. Fairy Tail & Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest {4 volumes (-1)} - 836,000 (-5.2%)
05./05. Naruto & Boruto {2 volumes (=)} - 779,000 (+41%)
06./11. The Promised Neverland {6 volumes (+1)} - 589,000 (+138%)

11./12. Black Clover {6 volumes (=)} - 285,000 (+16.7%)
12./00. Dr. Stone {5 volumes (+2)} - 247,000 (+232.8%)

13./00. Ki & Hi {2 volumes (+1)} - 228,000 (+10%)
14./13. Seven Deadly Sins {6 volumes (=)} - 228,000 (+10.3%)
15./09. Assassination Classroom {0 volume (-3)} - 209,000 (-36.2%)
16./00. Kingdom {24 volumes (+14)} - 171,000 (+276.8%)
17./00. Edens Zero {5 volumes (+4)} - 171,000 (+405.3%)
18./00. Splatoon {3 volumes (=)} - 152,000 (+47.3%)

Note: If we counted separately DB and DBS, and Naruto and Boruto, Dragon Ball Super would be 7th (532,000 units) and Dragon Ball would be 8th (418,000 units). Naruto would be 4th with 646,000 units sold (leaving 133,000 units to Boruto).

Speaking of Boruto, since its release in 2016, the sequel has sold 403,000 units in France.

And finally, I'm reposting this (I'm not sure if it was actually posted in this thread though, but it's old news from January):
  1. Dragon Ball Super, Volume 6
  2. One Piece, Volume 89
  3. Dragon Ball Super, Volume 7
  4. Ki & Hi, Volume 4
  5. One Piece, Volume 90
  6. Dragon Ball Super, Volume 8
  7. One Piece, Volume 91
  8. My Hero Academia, Volume 17
  9. The Promised Neverland, Volume 6
  10. My Hero Academia, Volume 18
  11. One-Punch Man, Volume 14
  12. The Promised Neverland, Volume 7
  13. One Piece, Volume 92
  14. My Hero Academia, Volume 1
  15. One-Punch Man, Volume 15
  16. My Hero Academia, Volume 19
  17. The Promised Neverland, Volume 8
  18. Dragon Ball Super, Volume 9
  19. Naruto, Volume 1
  20. My Hero Academia, Volume 20
Rank 1 and 2= 85,000 to 100,000 units
Rank 3 to 9= 70,000 to 85,000 units
Rank 10 to 20= 45,000 to 70,000 units
As a side note, the article seems to hint at a Spy x Family release for the end of the year. This would make sense: in an interview last month, an editor at Ki-oon Editions said he had failed to get the rights of the manga and that another publisher had obtained them.

I think One Piece just has a smaller and different fanbase among english speakers, since you don't have the huge amount of casual fans who watched it as a kid that Naruto and Bleach do.

New episodes of One Piece Anime will be suspended from next week in Japan. They will start Wanokuni arc again next 26th April until all COVID-19 situation improves.

How is it "exempt", what does it mean, exactly? Because people criticize it less? Because the fandom praises it more? The reason for that is pretty simple: people like it more than other series and like it more intensely. If you disagree, that's fine (and actually, a lot of people have criticisms of the series), but it isn't like there's a secret agreement or anything of the sort. It's just a more well-regarded series, that's not an outlandish idea.

The only One Piece “critique” that I hate with a passion is “Oda is a garbage artist”, which is a pretty popular argument a lot of ppl make. I can’t even fathom how anyone could ever come to that conclusion

Yeah, I knew where they came from. It was a 2018 issue cover were everyone swapped roles. It just that....out of everyone.....they chose Tanjiro as Yuuna....
given that the 2 series are from the same batch, and kimetsu weren't selling like today, it is understandable why the choose yuuna

others by the way, also, remove the issue from the url for other issues, I should make a better navigation, but I'm lazy

The three fanbases worst at taking criticism are HxH, JoJo and OP from what I've seen.

I can't believe today is the 20th anniversary of this legendary Shonen Jump anime moment:

EDIT: Tbh this is wrong. Yu-gi-oh season 0 happened in 1998.

A promo that aired on Japanese TV for the very first episode of the YGO Duel Monsters anime. Don’t know where the hell the uploader managed to find the vision but I thought that was pretty cool. I believe there’s a TV promo for Naruto’s very first episode floating around on YouTube too.
