Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I’m really glad these changes were implemented!

Also, the Black Clover reply had me rolling: You really didn’t have to do them like that. XD

I'm worried for Black Clover. Guess I should just accept that we won't ever see the full story in it's full glory :'(

I wouldn't worry, on the whole, removed One Piece, it's the jump series that has sold more this month.

I don't understand the concerns for Black Clover: they are respectable sales.

Another 2-3 years on Jump will do it safely. Also because with series like Demon Slayer and Neverand in closing, I doubt that the jump can afford to lose other series

I guess you have a good point. But it's still never racking. Why are the sales dropping? 🤔

I think that all depends on the roster of the magazine. It's a shame it's way underperforming because it never got and won't ever get its big boost, but aside from that it couldn't be in a luckier position with the current state of Jump. Of course it's still terrible to depend on the failures of new serializations in the long run (as that is what Tabata was gunning for and not just a year or two more). I just selfishly wish he stopped doing these 13 to 15 pages long chapters so he could get the most out of his plans.

Why are the sales dropping?
Probably the moderate boost and momentum that the bad start of the anime gave it has already run out. I also think that its lighthearted tone and character archetypes might have gotten out of style or just don't have as wide an audience anymore.

Well, 150-160k copies are not bad, it has a good fan following and it is quite popular, for another 2-3 years it is safe for me (it is not I think terrible, because it would be about 7-8 years, which for a shonen there are also many).

I don't understand, what does this have to do with it?

I will never understand this thing about blaming the anime at all costs.

In my opinion, regardless of the study, the results would have been the same.

I agree with the rest.

Simply put, a manga like BC can only be successful for as long it has before hitting a plateau sooner than later.

You mean like all mangas, that unless it ends at the peak, sales go up, are stable for a few years and then go down. And sales and popularity is not equal to quality.

My point is that a manga cut from the same cloth as BC, which has nothing to make itself stand out from its peers, and take a too much by-the-books approach within its genre, will have a much lower ceiling to hit compared to the rest in the magazine.

I honestly don't reply much but when people bring up misinformation like that I can't stop myself lol. Not meaning any harm, just trying to keep people well-informed. Thanks for the suggestion! Seems it's working properly :)

Kei is so beautiful and gorgeous

I find amazing how we have the characters of Paradox Writer's Girl in color when chapter 1 will be released in almost one month (18th May). So the girl is blue-haired and the guy....looks a normal design.

I honestly don't see BC lasting more than early 2022.
We will see, I guess.

Never been a fan of female character models in most manga since they often look generic but Kei is truly unique.

"Better" look of Time Paradox Ghost Writer characters.

Now that I notice, except Mashle and Mori King, ALL newbies are coming with a pair set of MCs. We can include here Yozakura, Mitama, and the deceased ZIPMAN too.

Agravity Boys is the other exception in the other side of the spectrum with 4 characters.

Why are the characters frpm Yozakura, Mitama and Agravity Boys not in that group picture? Like do they not belong to the same "batch" or is there a different reason?

They're a bit longer, Mitama and Yozakura are from 2019 Jump and Agravity also started last year (even if if was 2020 #2 for Jump). They've all survived a round of cancellations already, so they're a little more established than these 6 which are still completely new and haven't been in the running to get cancelled yet (though the older 3 could still certainly get cancelled, none of them are doing well enough to be safe quite yet).

That's the two most recent batches. Agravity Boys and Zipman were at the start of the year, and Yozakura and Mitama are both getting close to 40 chapters, so that's probably why.
