Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Didn't the producer of the anime state that Gotouge isn't comfortable with female pronouns. Why would Gotouge tell the producer that then go out and then use female pronouns?

I said it was uncertain because of Tabata's health, not about manga-quality or its sales.

It seems that Gotouge is definitely a woman and it says once the manga ends, she will return home with her family. It also seems she has personal issues with them.
Dunno where this is from, I'm going to look for it. Take it as a grain of salt.
Dunno if my whole translation is correct, but it seems to be way more of a serious issue. I wouldn't really trust it until we have an actual source.

"...It would have been common sense to extend the series, but the final battle against Muzan has already ended in Jump. And there were several rumors online, but the author is indeed a woman. It seems she won't be able to continue working as a mangaka in Tokyo for a long time due to family circumstances. She'll be returning to her parents' home once the series ends. "

It wasn't uncomfortable but Aniplex producer said it is better to not use a specific gender because Gotouge want to be anonymous and we know the anime staff(Director and Character designer) referred to Gotouge as female at Madfest according to the transcript we got.

Oh wow.

Is it, like, sick parents? I recall that's what happened with Arakawa during the publication of Silver Spoon...

Its best to wait for an official source. I'm not sure where that image is from though.

It wouldn't surprise if Gotouge was a female tbh from reading the author comments especially during Kimetsu's first year of serialization iirc.

It's from somewhere in Baidu, but I can't manage to find anything.

Can you elaborate on that? What were their author comments like?

Some of them sounded quite feminine iirc. I do remember that's where the speculation started from the fanbase at that time.

What are the series that have ended during its peak? (where there wasn't any downward trend within its popularity and sales).

The worst thing is that I feel KnY hasn't even reached its peak.
Death Note, Kuroko No Basket, Assassination Classroom are what come to mind.
This forum has some fetish with trying to doom Black Clover when in the reality the series is totally alive and well lol, people can't even predict when Yuuna is ending but they try to do with a actual hit that has a long running anime going on.
No one says it'll end this week, month or even year. Heck, I doubt anyone said it'll end next year.
2 years is most likely if the sales keep declining. Not sure why people keep assuming BC is in some bubble that won't be popped.

Also, these Yuuna comparisons are so lazy. Yuuna aims for a completely different audience. Just like how gags aim for a different set of readers.

Mashle Jump GIGA omake
These are so random. I love it.

Finally getting down to read Saint Seiya for real this time, and I noticed something. The number of chapters per volume are quite low, like 3-5 per volume. This is more like the number of chapters to a monthly series, yet this ran in WEEKLY Jump, where the standard is 9-10 chapters a volume. So either Kurumada was a monster in pumping out chapters or they decided to combine chapters, which if the latter is true, then what's the point in doing so?

They combined chapters into bigger ones in the volumes. I'm not sure of the exact reasons why, but I think series back then usually had 14-page chapters which feels quite short by current standards.

It seems the one who posted, took it from this forum, https://bbs.saraba1st.com/2b/forum.php
It will be hard to find which subforum/thread tho.
So... misleading news that shouldnt be shared nor posted because there isnt a viable way to fact check it via an official source? Specially because if its just a lie it could spread misinformation like it has happened with other personal information authors.

I know the topic of knowing more about the information and the condition the author has is something fans want to know more about but we shouldnt try to spread this info if we cant guarantize it in no possible way as now, could be fake or could be not, but as now is just a rumour in a really delicate topic.

Thing is we have a screenshot, with the information on it. Even if you argue that it's fake, what would anyone gain by spreading such information? It seems like an awful lot of effort for something not actually true.

So making a bunch of text is nothing.

Which is why I'm happy that the wsj_manga twitter account didn't report on it. Props to the people who run that account and have respect towards Gotouge.

I have a feeling that people who lurk here may post it as something official and/or popular anitubers.

That's a tabloid tier drama if it's true.
I have been reading a lot of josei recently so my conspiracy mind starts screaming marriage :derp

This is common practice when weekly chapters are too goddamn short.
I have read some weekly manga which a weekly chapter is like under 10 pages, and then 4-5 weekly chapters got combined into 1 chapter in the tank.
