Happened upon what I think is the official Jump YouTube channel while I was searching for evidence that may indicate a manga's survival. They've got a repository of recent manga PVs. This one came out on May 19, 2019, and it showcased the established series in the lineup:
I wonder if they'll update this, because a hell of a lot has changed since then. I'm surprised Chainsaw Man wasn't on here considering it had been running for 5 to 6 months by then and was selling well. Samurai 8 is there because well, Shueisha really wanted to shill that series."
I actually want burn the witch to be a full on serialization. Partly because the one shot is amazing but also to make me forget about the sadness I felt when samurai 8 failed.
Institutionalized xenophobia in Japan, institutionalized racism in the states. Doesn't look great for cops either way.
Except I've clearly stated over and over that spy x family seems clearly inspired by Beelzebub. Doesn't mean Tamura couldn't have been inspired by Spy x Family. Your arguments also seem rather naive regarding how entertainment industries work.
I've made my case pretty clearly. You can either choose to see it or not. This argument is over.
If shonen jump was worried about imitating popular manga then we would have had much less gag manga and more psycho thriller and demon slaying type manga. I think Nako’s priority right now is to balance the serious manga and the comedic manga. A lot of shonen jump’s recent pillars are on the darker side of shonen jump so I think he is trying to put more lighthearted manga in the magazine (hence the gag manga). With chainsawman, jujutsu kaisan, and act age becoming the main pillars where these stories are either dark, unconventional, or both I think he is trying not to make the magazine to edgy.
Seriously though with the obvious result of GotW gone due axe and TPN and Yuuna and KnY having ended already, I am worried about who is next on the chopping board because I think it can only be two series - Mitama and Agravity Boys and I kinda like both of them....

I think Mitama is next due to its sales decreasing every time. I know that it has better rankings than Agravity, but they gave it 3 volumes and it hasn't shown any growth in sales. We still don't even know if Agravity will increase in sales or not, but you never know. I really wish we could get new Id's to know whats axed next sooner.
You are applying your Western view onto this.
Do you work in Japan manga industry and are super not naive like me?
Do you think there was really a conspiracy between wnl and 5toubun.
Coincidence does happen!

I have been following this industry much longer than you. I am not looking at it with a western bias. You are just seeing the industry with rose colored glasses. You also have been equally dismissive of my arguments, arguably more so.
I am done. I will not respond to you any further. It feels like I'm arguing with a certain banned user and it does nothing but give me a headache.

I think the problem with Agravity boys is to give more prominence to the American character than to the Japanese character, who in theory should be the protagonist.

Apologize for causing your distress.
I was just really against early judgement an overanalyze as a glance before the actual manga even released.
We never knew UU going to have SCP-esque world with its preview, right.
And I don't really think I look at the manga industry with a rosy tint glass.
Well, I do see my argument did put a lot of faith in mangaka not being lazy naught people try to skip work by picking elements from what currently working ಠ︵ಠ
My point is, let it out, and judge it for how it actually is.
We never really know what actually happened behind the scenes, during the manga's inception.
We can really throw out that kind of accusation after really know what kind of manga it is. Well, at least after the first chapter.
Sorry for much heated argument. And sorry for my abandonment issue as well that make me hate being cut off mid-conversation (。ŏ﹏ŏ).
So nice to see BonColle placed high in the TOC, first good news since god knows how long. I want it to survive so bad it hurts, the other day I was doing the calculations to see if it's possible for me to save it from cancelation if i spent all my money on it
Almost feel sad about GotW ending, that last arc with Claude and Spica was actually solid, I think if this series had played its cards right, it could’ve made it, though launching with two more successful series probably didn’t help.
So... a detective story with supernatural elements?
I mean, I love detectives, but in my experience stories like that are usually less about the detective work and more akin to exorcist manga... which are, like, half the magazine right now...

Same here. The plot wasn't bad, but the pacing (especially in chapters 2-5) was really, really slow.
Though I'm kind of disappointed they didn't try and give it some kind of ending... unless they pull off something amazing in this last chapter, I guess, but right now it kind of feels like they just published what they had already planned without caring if it suddenly stopped in the middle of an arc, and that's a shame.
Eh. I don't like UxU either. I'm happy it's doing well, WSJ needs more successful battle manga with KNY and TPN finished but I'll never get into it.
It could have the best world building the industry has ever seen but I cannot get behind the initial chapters and the poor ecchi mechanic of skin touching for a battle manga. For me, that alone makes it fall under the same umbrella as that anime Seikon No Qwaser. I cannot take such works seriously and would rather not waste my time.
Do that for a gag like Bone Collection and I can move past it for the jokes. Battle manga, no way.
Well, in Japanese at least. They write it as "アクタージュ" (Akutāju). Usually, "Act" would be "アクト" (Akuto) and "Age" would be "エイジ" (Eiji).
Looking at it again, the "アクター" from "アクタージュ" is how you would put the word "actor" in to Katakana. And "ジュ" (ju) might mean the Kanji "寿", which means "age, years" with a "ju" reading.
