The third episode of Kaiju No. 8 came out and it’s honestly disheartening to see a good number of people turn on the manga a bit. Only been 3 chapters.

Wait what where? So far I've only read positive things in the latest chapter, at least on my language.

Well, I hope it's not the effect of overhyping the 1st chapter...

The comments on MangaDex. They talk about how it got super generic real fast and how they don't like the new character.

I mean the atmosphere and types of characters feel closer to WSJ's style than Sunday's. Each magazine has a sort of feel to their series, though it's hard to describe specifically.

I remember someone on this site attempted to describe the four Weekly Shonen magazines, though I dunno who and where. What did stick with me is that they described Sunday as more laid-back than the others, while Champion is basically kind of an indie version of Jump. I dunno how to describe Magazine, but Jump personally, is very high-energy.

Tokyo Grind Horror Channel really looked fun from the raws, if we keep getting exorcist manga, might as well be this one! That My Little Mars one from a while back also felt like it had potential.

As if making a 20 volume series that easy.
The axe rate of Sunday is just as (or even more) brutal as Jump.
Those series survive because they are ACTUALLY good. Let's jump compare Switch or Blue Lock to Beast Children and you see what I mean.

My Little Mars because I have the sneaking suspicion that Yu Odoriba is a former assistant of Tatsuki Fujimoto and I want to be proven right!

True, true.

And yeah, I'm wary of her, it's more that she was just introduced so I'm willing to give benefit of the doubt. The rival character was also kinda generic at first, but he quickly established a genuine bond with the MC, and they have some real good comedic chemistry. I just like how Kaiju No. 8 is executing it's tropes right now. Sure as hell ain't original, but nothing really is anymore.

This one shot talk makes me remember that almost all the new series from this year come from one shots:

Thats 9/12 one shots being serialized and, while its the expected because thats the whole purpose of one shots, its a high number if we compare it to 2019, when only 1 was converted to a serialization, and given that we havent ended the year, we could expect more at least between 1-2 more rounds in the remaining year.

I thought the new chapter of Kaijuu No. 8 was still ok. Don’t get the hate from everyone on Mangadex. The only problem is that the new character Kikoru is a little bland. But, she hasn’t been in the story for that long so I’m not going to jump to any conclusions. I am interested in what the exam they are taking will be like.

Also, for the conversation of what tropes do you most hate, for me it’s probably when the protagonist has some secret destiny or gifted power they never knew about. Now, I’m fine with stuff like Naruto having Kurama and Ichigo having his Hollow power. But I am more so talking about like Naruto being a reincarnation of Asura and getting SO6P out of nowhere from Hagoromo. And Ichigo being able to have Fullbring and Quincy powers alongside already having Soul Reaper and Hollow powers. It makes me sort of angry because it basically defeats the whole purpose of training hard to get strong.

So Mashle 1 sold more than Undead Unluck 1 despite coming out two months later and only having 1 month worth of sales. Man, I really want to see how volume 2 will do, hoping for it to chart on Oricon so bad.

What did happen to Count Over author? I feel Count Over will never be serialized
