Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Ah, I remember at what the new HDC chapter reminded me off: Super Dog Rilienthal! That't it! Just instead of a little dog it is a little girl.
Also noticed how nobody here complained about a Police Officer firing his gun several times and then use it to smash the head of someone in? Seems like WSJ is truly not worried at all about any negative feedback from US readers if they keep going like this.
1 Never engage in a fist fight with a person who has (and is willing to use) a gun without asking them if they want a fist fight. Fiction 101.

2 Pretty sure wsj is more concerned with it's sales and reception in Japan more than anything.

This week's top 5:
1. Mitama Security - Hilarious chapter. Youtuber Rena Haze would easily win my subscription!
2. Mashle - Fantastic battle chapter. Lance is a pretty great character when he's not doing his siscon shtick.
3. Magu-chan: God of Destruction - Hilarious chapter for sure. There's not a single character I'm not loving. The worthless deity was an amazing addition, especially with his legion of hermit crabs.
4. Moriking - Really good chapter. There were some surprisingly deep comments made throughout the chapter, and the humor was top-notch.
5. Undead Unluck - Another solid chapter. This one seemed largely transitional, but it laid out some nice detail that'll really help out the following chapters.

The best of the rest:
6. Chainsaw Man - Very powerful chapter. So much anguish and agony, but it's so well done. I may actually cry at the end of this arc.
7. Act-Age - Good chapter. Great to see some personal growth going on for our leading ladies.
8. Mission: Yozakura Family - Pretty good chapter. I'm more interested to see the follow-up to this development next issue. Needed some Mutsumi.
9. Ayakashi Triangle - Decent chapter. I want to see more cool ayakashi designs though.
10. We Never Learn - The chapter was alright, but nothing special to me. Not as good as Uruka route, but better than Rizu's. It just feels like nothing new really happened through this whole route, just a rehash and retelling of things that already happened.
11. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin - Every chapter has felt pretty weird, like it tries to expand the world or deepen the plot on the last page of every chapter, and then doesn't really touch upon it the next one. This whole series is kind of strange to me.
12. Me & Roboco - This was a little better than the previous chapters, but I'm still not enjoying it that much. I do appreciate the Act-Age promotion though.
13. Time Paradox Ghostwriter - Didn't like this chapter at all. Not loving any of these developments, nor this "ideal manga" philosophy of having no personality. It wouldn't break my heart if this got axed.
14. Bone Collection - This seems to be barreling towards the ax at full speed. This chapter was super fast-paced and seemed like several jammed into one.
15. Agravity Boys - I can't believe this arc is going to have at least one more chapter. So stupid and pointless.

TGPW is getting axed. Also the author has pretty weird beliefs. A Manga with no personality is what it takes for it to be the most entertaining thing in the world? What kind of logic is that? Is he trying to take shots at some of the current popular titles?
That's one of my biggest problems with the series too. You want a series to be accessible, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't have a personality. Take Cross Account for example. It had great art, but it was just so cliche and generic that it sank in the rankings and ultimately got axed. A series needs to have some sort of personality to it to give it some life and makes it compelling to read

Dont get why people continue to make it seem as if Itsuka is the writers self-insert, felt Teppeis interactions w his Editor and his own viewpoints (which is contrary to her), provides us knowledge that the writer is just presenting multiple views on how to make manga.

Massive hype for Alice to Taiyou author's return! GIGA has been bringing back a lot of authors I've been really looking forward to their returns. Hopefully GIGA keeps doing well.
Oh shit, I wanna read that. Same with the other oneshot by the Kiruko author.

Time to update that banner.

Kaiju No. 8 is still starting off real strong. Same can't really be said for Ghost Reaper Girl. I can see Kaiju competing with Spy x Family for best non-Jump chapter, while Ghost Reaper will probably hang around in the Bottom 5 unless it gets better soon.

Bone Collection with another bottom placement. Man, everyone's just waiting for it to be axed at this point, huh. There's definitely tiers forming between the newbies, but since this is merely a poll between us and not the actual TOC, all we can do is hope that Magu-chan sells.

I don't know if its the author's intention but "Nos Vemos" is portuguese, it's means basically the same of "See ya" when you stop talking with someone and say goodbye to the person, here we say like "nos vemos" ou "nos vemos por aí"

Btw, Bunny & Ghost is a basket one shot, let's go Shonen Jump, bring that basket manga that i'm asking :zomg

What sport have we seen the most in WSJ? Baseball?

I'm curious what a list of how often have all the different sports been represented in WSJ would be like. Maybe two lists could be interesting, one for just hits and one including flops (which would take a lot more time and effort I expect).

Thought of taking a look at the current rankings for the volumes released in August in Amazon and I found them quite curious. Of couse, these fluctuate a lot and are not definitive, but they're intriguing nonetheless. #159 Haikyuu!! 44 #643 Chainsaw Man 8 #866 Jujutsu Kaisen 12 #1712 We Never Learn 18 #5988 Mashle 2 #18430 Mission: Yozakura Family 4 #20108 Moriking 1 #20724 Mitama Security 4 #30062 Bone Collection 1 #42917 Time Paradox Ghostwriter 1 #62600 Guardian of the Witch 2
yeah. not good sign for bone collection and Time paradox
its so weird seing all defense timepara get compare to bone collection..
they basically had same turn.. bad at TOC, had massive panic move/direction shift on manga content.

Just look at those who grow, I guess. Punctual growths and fluctuations won't tell pretty much anything.

Itsuki thinks like this, not exactly the author. She's the one narrating this chapter.
Sure but thanks to that belief her new series ranked #1 for 30 straight weeks. The author is definitely implying something.

TPGW seems reasonable to me, reminiscent of the first volume of Yozakura.
But it’s just an guess, I don’t understand much about this Amazon rank.

There's nothing much to understand given I usually call it shitpost for different reasons. The only things we can extract from this is that MASHLE is growing popularity wise, hence better ranks on preorders that keep growing. Veterans such as Haikyu!!, Jujutsu Kaisen or Chainsaw Man will do nice as usual, some Jump+ series are showing good positions so they may do decently (Torture Princess, Summertime, Sing of Abyss...). And as for the rest of newbies which are kinda harder to determine, we can just say Moriking seems to be more popular than the rest, Mitama and Yozakura will probably keep doing as they have been, and the rest is just purely unknown. Saying they'll do something similar to X or Y is just purely guessing given these ranks won't even have any kind of influence to the copies sold we'll get from Oricon and Shoseki. Don't give it that much thought, it's purely intuitive to get a bare idea.

I was already fooled by this in the case of Yozakura.
At amazon, volumes sell out very quickly and because of that I thought I could improve their positions at TOC.

As Tamura and Yabuki are veterans and have successful manga on their resumes (Beelzebub, Black cat and To love ru).
I believe they have four volumes guaranteed.
I'm saying this based on Tamura himself with Hungry Marie and shibashi in relation to Illegal rare and Kamio yui.
