Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Allowing Matsuki to return sends a message that “being a sex offender is okay in our magazine as long as your series is good and sells well.” and would also be a bad look for them, especially considering they’re no longer in the days of 2002 where Manga wasn’t all that big internationally.
My mom is in her 60s, doesn’t even know what manga is, let alone Shonen Jump, and she saw a headline about this and asked me if I heard of it. I’m sure some Japanese fans would be disgusted, but internationally Shonen Jump readers would absolutely HATE this.

Also, most ppl are pretty disgusted by sex offenders, so i don’t think it’s right to assume that Usazaki would even want to work with Matsuki again going forward. I hope she finds a new work, it takes off to be even bigger than Act-Age and she never looks back. So even if Matsuki were to return years later she’s too busy with her own success to even consider working with him again
You're looking at it from the perspective as someone who can't separate the art from the artist (or in this case writer). Yes some would hate it, I won't deny that but don't speak on behalf of international fans so not everyone would hate this. I honestly don't want to get back in this discussion since we've beaten it to death when the Watsuki scandal arrived. We all have our own perspectives on this matter and some twitter outrage is not representative on people's views.

Yes all people are disgusted by sex offenders but she clearly poured her heart and soul into drawing the series so she may be willing to overlook that. Have you considered that? She may or may not want to work with Matsuki, no one knows until the time comes. Btw it was only a what if scenario (or my hopes) on the matter, not my assumption of her.

I genuinely hope the artist, Shiro, just moves onto other projects.
I know some people want their favorite series to continue or get closure but I'd much rather not give a pedophile, who went around sexually assaulting little children, more money to indulge in more of his "hobbies" as he put it (in the TOC author comment).

I don't think he should be given another chance in Jump, however I don't agree whatsoever with barring artists from creating art. I feel after his punishment it should be up to respectives publisher on whether or not to work with him. I just don't think he should be published in children's magazines anymore.

I personally feel pedophiles, Illness or not are completely scum. However art is an extension of oneself and nobody should be prohibited self expression through artistic means. Just don't them have the same mainstream platforms and exposure.

I think it’s safe to assume that internationally, and especially Americans, supporting a a sex offender who has harmed children is universally frowned up. I don’t need to speak for other people, or put words in people’s mouths, to know that most ppl would hate him returning and gaining support.

History has already shown us that the vast majority of people don’t like rapist, child molesters, and pedophiles to continue getting work and support from big companies. The people who want him to keep working are in a small minority.

And logically I simply think it’s unlikely to get a sequel with both Usazaki and Matsuki working together on Act Age again after it’s presumed cancellation. Since they’re a duo it’s more complicated. Usazaki likely isn’t going to sit around waiting on Matsuki’s bad press to die down(and this is also assuming he doesnt get a large jail sentence that could potentially be up to 10 Years)

I believe she’s talented enough with a distinct enough style that she’ll most definitely have another success. Assuming she has a long running successful series I doubt she, or anyone is even going to care about the Act-Age continuation in 10-12 years when she’s free to work again.

And again, that’s assuming she even wants to work with him again. I’m not trying to pretend I know her. I’m basing this on the general consensus that the average person doesn’t want to start/continue a partnership with a convicted child molester; especially a woman. This isn’t me basing this on personal bias, but the fact that 9/10 people legitimately don’t like associating with those ppl. This on top of the rumors that they may not even get along to begin with( rumors are rumors, but as silly as it sounds, two colleagues un-friending each other on social media is a legitimate sign of bad blood in this age of social media)

Not familiar with Blue Box, but neither Blue Lock or Blue Period are from Shueshia.

I'd love for a new video game tie-in series in general. I think the only ones Jump has gotten though are Dragon Quest and Blue Dragon.
I'd kill for a Dragon Quest Monsters manga in Jump if the new game ever gets out of development hell.

Fantastic holds for Mashle and Yozakura, Yozakura didn't even budge! Looking forward to seeing these 6 day week 1 numbers. Seeing very little hope for TPGW and Moriking at this point, might not even last a whole week.

I really wonder if all these mangaka's sex crimes are committed before they even started their manga

We seriously need more of those too be honest. Forget Sonic a really interesting ones that fits a magazine like Jump the most are Kid Icarus and Zelda. Maybe it'll happen one day. Wonder if it's complicated situation for shueisha though. Maybe they avoid it on purpose

I don't think Shueshia has ever had a Nintendo manga. However their parent company Shogakukan (which owns Sunday and a ton of other magazines) has ran lots in their various magazines.
Depends on various licensing and businesses agreements/existing business relationships.

All volumes in the top 100. I really wish it didn't have to happen like this...
That's gotta be a sour feeling for a hardcore act age fan. Ouch

Should he be able to serve his time and re enter society? Sure

Should he be allowed to continue working for a magazine that makes content aimed a children when he committed acts of sexual harming children? Absolutely not.

As Rica said above, he’s allowed to continue making manga. No ones stopping him.
However harming children isn’t just a little oopsy daisy that ppl can just forgive and forget. That’s some that will, and should follow you for the rest of your life, and ppl aren’t required to forgive and support someone who committed a heinous crime like that

Would really like to see a manga exclusive Final Fantasy Jump story. By manga exclusive, I mean not based on an existing FF game. Something similar to the Jump Dragon Quest manga.

Most Nintendo games that would work well as a manga already have solid-great manga series. So there’s no reason for Jump to do one
