Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

In relation to this, is there any manga that, when getting close to the axe, took the bad ending route and made the hero fail and the villain win?
My memory of these series isn't that good, but didn't ZIGA and Noah's Notes end like that? For ZIGA, I know that the author killed off a character that was really popular and had a lot of fan art.

I started following the ToC right around when the AssClass/Takamagahara batch started.

Holy shit. I had forgotten Takamagahara and AC started in the same batch. For some reason I kept thinking Takamagahara started in 2009 or something.

Ok guys question. Do you expect any possible Chainsawman anime announcement in Jump Festa?

If this happen, I'm not expecting any more anime coming until 2023 at least, unless they somehow give Mashle a really early anime announcement, or unless we get surprised with a Yozakura anime announcement.
I would say that jump festa would be AA time to shine
But well, since the recent events, I think a CSM announcement might be possible.
I also agree that festa will likely be digital this year.

That reminds me, what was your first experience with the Jump Process, or the Jump Survival thread? I honestly got lucky - it was during the big batch of six in 2017, and the three series I enjoyed the most were Dr. Stone, Robot x Laserbeam, and We Never Learn.
I think it was during the Ole Golazo/Demon’s Plan round, I saw a lot of people speaking about the former and got salty over it being canceled

also about the anime announcement, the anime announcement for MASHLE and yozakura would be 2021 Jump festa(December 2021)

I remember Stealth Symphony took a similar route, but with a twist.

Yozakura is actually old enough to get a fall 2021 anime adaptation.

Oh yeah, that is true! Viz translating the entire Jump roster means that now the survival process is highly publicized around the world. Oh man, I feel really sorry for the poor bastards who are just getting into manga on MP.

For me, I read Black Clover when chapter 1 dropped, but didn't really follow new series in Jump. The first time I did was during the TPN and Red Sprite batch. I skipped the batch with Amalgam and Spring Weapon and then read Demon's Plan and have been reading new Jump series consistently ever since the six series batch as well. Though I dropped quite a lot of series after the first chapter. However now, I'm giving every single new series a chance until chapter 10.

My cut-off point is somewhere between 5-7 chapters. To the rest of you all: where’s your cut-off point?

Most Jump manga take so quick to read the weekly chapter that I'm basically reading everything just to keep up. I guess if one of the series I didn't care for like, say, Bone Collection had ended up being a hit I probably would've dropped it, but since it's ending so quickly might as well complete it.

I just read until I no longer care. This can be chapter 1, 3, 10, 100, it doesn't really matter. If I don't enjoy reading a series I will drop it.

Something MANY should learn to do instead of just reading so they can be toxic and shit on fans.

Fans should also stop being toxic when other manga find success over their favorite.
I've said this before. But many series doing well bodes well for the magazine and the industry. An industry without multiple large successes will die.

I mean its 59 weeks till October 2021, and some of those weeks are double issues so it'd be at like chapter 100 during fall season. Act Age is even more popular and still didn't have even an announcement at chapter 122. I expect it'd drop Spring 2022 or Summer 2022 with an announcement at JumpFesta

I don't have a fixed cut-off point. I play it by ear, a series loses me whenever I don't feel like reading it anymore, be it after Chapter 1, Chapter 10 or Chapter 72.

Somehow, in the Western anime fandom, the "Three Episode Rule" became something many people agree on, where you should give an anime three episodes to hook you before you should drop it, and I think that's complete BS tbh. If you really don't want to watch a series anymore, then don't. Same for manga.

That rule I think came about because of Madoka, where if you drop it before ep 3 you didn't see what the show was really about.

WSJ manga's different though, if they can't hook people in with the first couple chapters it's probably dying early (it's not always the case, but usually is).
