That article is a bit of a headscratcher. Most theaters except Toho and Aeon had been lifting restrictions since september, when the government allowed them to. The only chains who hadn't done so up till now were TOHO (which had, however, already lifted weekend restrictions in a small chunk of their theaters, and will extend that to the whole chain this weekend) and AEON (which hasn't lifted them for this weekend either to my knowledge). Japanese box office has been operating semi-normally for quite a while.

If anything I'm concerned due to how big this movie looks like it'll be. Based on the enormous amount of reservations it's been getting, there's speculation that the movie will break opening weekend box office record despite the current situation. And some are speculating it'll do so by a big margin.

If it was less than 100, then I could see why (even if it would be better to take a little extra precaution). But at that number, I wouldn’t have agreed to this. Unless, if we’re breaking it down by prefecture, and those numbers are actually significantly lower than it would seem.
