Just wow at those KnY numbers.. It will always boggle me haha, like if there´s ever a book or a documentary exploring or theorizing on KnY´s success I´d probably buy (And I haven't even read KnY yet, though I plan on it soonish).
Hopefully this means more manga get better budget in their anime adaptations (Wanting to replicate anything close to KnY´s success).
BUT one thing I don´t want to see happen... Though maybe it will start happening is manga getting an arc adapted into a movie (This is a movie adaptation of a manga arc, correct?).
Even though watching a movie quality adaptation of a manga arc would be great... It would also be a pain in the ass for us international watchers, because most times streaming services don´t care to have OVAs or movies in their catalog...
e.g. Shokugeki No Soma OVAs, like there´s an OVA that´s pretty much what connects season 2 to season 3 (It´s cannon chapter from the manga that for some reason the studio decided to make into an OVA instead of a normal episode) and it´s not on Crunchyroll (I think it has never been? So there has never been to watch this OVA in any legal way IIRC)

Gotouge was set for life even before Kimetsu exploded in popularity, he was at least a millionaire, although that could not be enough to be set for life in Japan I guess.
I think the reason they adapt this arc into a movie is because how short it is(around 13 chapters) while the 2 following arcs is way, way longer and more popular, thus why waste space in a season when you can cut the shorter arcs out and put it in a movie while keep the 2 following arc in 1 season. It would help the pacing a lot
RDL is painfully long and Smith village arc is relatively short, so ideally RDL should be adapted into a movie but who knows. Infinite train really needed to be adapted into a movie since its too short and wouldn't have fit into a standard cour.

RLD should be adapt into a movie because it long? It the worst arc alongside Infinity Fortress for a movie adaptation. Not to mention the big reveal at the end of the arc regarding the rest of the moon.

Just a thought. Initially I was thinking of RLD + Smith arc be a 2 cour season. Anyways let's how they will handle it since overall it's pretty challenging to adapt these irregular arcs.
Tbh, despite it seeming to be a fan favorite, I really wasn't a fan of RLD in the manga. Felt it just dragged and dragged and I found the arc villains really tedious. Personally I'd welcome a movie version. Perhaps they can trim the fluff and adjust the final battle turning it into something worthwhile for me.
Yep, I'm not going to be surprised if Kimetsu manages to beat freaking Slam Dunk in total copies next year.
Right now (only Japan number):
-Dragon Ball: 180 million copies
-Kochikame: 157.200 million copies
-Naruto: 153 million copies (I thought it was more)
-Slam Dunk: 121.360 million copies -Kimetsu no Yaiba: 100 million copies
-JoJo: 100 million copies
-Bleach: 90 million copies (sorry Jaymes)
-HxH: 78 million copies
Kimetsu beating Slam Dunk is plausible. Kimetsu beating freaking Naruto would truly be craziness.
As of 7 PM JST (so in like 8 hours or so from the first screening) "Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train" seems to have exceeded 1 billion yen in box office revenue
This is the highest revenue in a single day in Japan boxoffice history
It's projected to be quite a bit higher now that the day is over, and some sales are still missing due to certain chains crashing throughout the day. A correction though, the movie started having screenings at 7AM (yes, 7AM on a freaking friday), so it's not 8 hours.
Also, funnily enough, saturday is expected to be even bigger. So...yeah.
I would personally prefer a season 2, but I could see them going for more movies. I think RLD and Swordsmith can fit a movie each (RLD is very long but majority of it is fighting, so that'd feel a lot shorter regardless in an anime adaptation). Final arc though, no idea how you'd even tackle that to fit into a movie, nor to split it into multiple ones.
Man, that Halloween two page spread (with the eternal library) is probably my favorite in Jump history. Shame Fujimoto killed off best girl so quickly.

I'm not really up to date with KnY's sales (then again... Who can be? Not even shueisha haha) but 100mill is printed not sold, right? And it's counting the novels?
I mean doing quick math I'd guess right now KnY would have like 80m sold?
Also unrelated... Does anyone know why Bien the witch volume costs like 600 yen compared to 450 Yen of other Jump manga?
