With the new series releasing their 1st volume, in a matter of curiosity i checked the 1st day for the 1st volume of all releases from Shonen Jump since Shoseki started the daily rankings, including mini series too, so decided to organize in a big ranking and post to anyone interested, but something to remember, there's no context applied, is simply the ranked for best 1st day to worst, and the tied series was decided based in longevity/sales.

he submits the script and lets bones do their thing, i highly doubt he has significant involvement in the execution of the movie cause he just doesn't have time to get around to it, at most maybe they call him and run some stuff by him but thats it

It's pretty simple. Just because he helped make the film doesn't mean he's watched it yet. He said he's going to watch it today. I don't know what else you want lol.

R. i. p. For manga like Illegal rare, samon kun, kagamigami, robot x laserbeam, cross account, kurokuroko, UBS that could have become good series

We can look at how most of these series performed beyond their first day.

• Cross Account (4 volumes) grew from 13K to 16K from volume 1 to volume 2, but I don't think it that was ever going to be enough to survive in 2017 Sigh... Date Tsunehiro simply can't catch a break.
• Samon-kun wa Summoner (10 volumes) volumes generally sold 20-30K in their first week, depending on the number of days. There wasn't really a lot of growth but it had a fairly impressive run.
• Ultra Battle Satellite (3 volumes) never actually charted on Oricon, as far as I can tell.
• Kagamigami (5 volumes) never charted on Oricon either. It was drawn by the same guy as Psyren, so that's fun.
• Illegal Rare (4 volumes) sold 38K with its first week, but did not grow with successive volumes.
• Kurokuroku (3 volumes) never charted on Oricon either.

Like Shinuki no Reborn said, there isn't any context provided other than the Day 1 ranking. Things like hold and growth are completely ignored. And more improtantly, the ultimate sales of any given place on Shoseki in two different months can vary by tens of thousands.

Really, the only conclusion we can draw is that it is historically very unlikely for any series with a debut less than 10 to become a hit, and almost impossible for a series less than 30.

I'd say that the best-performing non-hit on that list is Soul Catcher(s) (11 volumes) though, with a run of about ~50K per volume. Although, to be honest, I wonder if Soul Catcher(s) is actually classified as a hit.

I thought a manga author would at least get to see the movie attached to their property before it even releases, not wait to buy a ticket and see it with the commonfolk. Manga industry seems so weird with how they treat the creators if they don't even get that honor.

I'm pretty sure most book authors don't get private screenings of movies that adapt their work. I'm open to being corrected, of course.

Who's to say he wasn't able to? all he said was that he was gonna see the movie today. That doesn't mean he wasn't offered an opportunity to see it. My point was that mangaka have extremely busy schedules. They may not always have the to make room for a movie screening, even if its their own film. And for all we know maybe he wanted to see it on release

Yes. this goes beyond just the author though. Most the time even the actors starring in the film don't see the movie until its premiere
