specially if it is consistently highly-ranked due to Matsui's following and past success.
Eh, it can always stagnate in Vol 3 onwards, but people just like it. That's it. Vol 2 is already showing a really nice grow and Vol 1 never leave Shoseki since release.

Observations:
  • Blue Box obviously getting axed. Sales were probably underwhelming, just like PS. (So we will probably get a batch of 4 with BB, Candy Flurry, and HSF leaving the mag. All 4 new series will be HxH).
  • Neru is higher than Red Hood, so RH is probably axebait. (If they had stayed in the hamlet the rankings would probably be better).
  • TES got cover because Jump doesn't want to give Mid: Yozakura Family an anniversary cover. It'll end in 2-3 months with RH (An anniversary cover might be announced, but when the cover is revealed it'll just be Roboco in a bad Mutsumi cosplay).
Blue Box got out stock pretty quickly and reprints are lasting a month to come, that was a mitake out of Shueisha part. I can see Blue Box sales bumping heavily after reprints come next week. I'd say Blue Box has sold well.

I'm not worried about Blue Box being in that place, I can see it easily back in top-5 next week. For me, Blue Box is the newbie with the biggest fanbase since chapter 1 since probably MHA. Practically everybody love it (which I understand, but personally I think the manga is being too overrated).

For Yozakura anniversary cover I'd wait for issue 45 at least to start complaining. Jump tends to give anniversary covers to its series 3-5 issues late. Heck, Jujutsu Kaisen anniversary came 16 issues late.

If blue box get axed lmao:teehee. The ps rage can't be compared anymore. But unlike ps, it has Too much support on it's back so we can save assume it's save regardless

Anyway High school family still hadn't it's first cover anniversary, along with Magu and Robo... without compting that Undead could receive a cover too (it's longer than Mashle since the last cover received), and Yozakura still needs its 2anniversary celebration too. I can't understand why they are giving so many cover to Nige Jozu or Dr. stone and no promoting other mangas

There's really nothing to worry about right now, but pure "sales" isn't a surefire inidcation of survival. You overrate them too much.
It was bound to fall at some point, but unless it starts staying near the bottom, then one shouldn't be too concerned now. Wild fluctuations in ToC positions are normal.
I'm not overestimating, Blue box sells over 50k and has already been in first position and will have CP next week The manga is pretty safe, Blue box is pretty safe,

COLOR PAGES: Mission of Yozakura Family
It mentions 2nd anniversary? Because i swear i'm done with Nakano if its a regular cp for the anniversary :guns
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Okay, i read that is due to current arc popularity and dont mention the anniversary, false alarm Yozafans, Nakano is trolling, doing this in the exact issue Yozakura is supposed to celebrate -_-;

The fact that people are taking this seriously sure goes to show how we are so used to purposefully obtuse and troll comments in this thread each and every week, to the point we can't tell the difference between being misguided on the TOC from intentional bad takes.

For anyone genuinely wondering, Blue Box is absolutely positively 100% safe. As safe as any non-veteran newbie series could possibly be, with it already having its second cover by chapter 13, strong sales for its first volume despite being under printed, and being in the top 5 pretty much every week until this point. The Elusive Samurai was just in the bottom 5 recently and now is in the top again - at this point every series that isn't 3+ years old is going to get tossed around in every possible spot because the roster is so competitive right now and reading into it week-by-week is kind of pointless until noticeable trends appear long-term (like Candy Flurry always being at the bottom).

Also, people continue reaching so far to try and convince themselves that Nakano is a terrible EiC who makes shit decisions/hates your favourite series that I'm surprised you guys haven't pulled several muscles at this point. The Elusive Samurai is a growing new series by a veteran, it getting a cover makes all the sense in the world. MYF will get another cover in due time, whether after One Piece or before/after the next serialisation round likely coming within the next month. Geez.

Anyway, nothing else too noteworthy about the TOC except that not a great week for all the comedies to be placed down low.

Cause it's easier to maintain popularity than rise new ones? And even if popular series were to fall in sales they would still sell more than most not popular series put together. So it's better to keep a fire burning than try to start one which might never ignite to begin with.

I can't understand you. Is not better for them to promote and risk and gain more money that they already gain? And the fact the there are series that could sell much more if just promoted a bit would surely change something.
Anyway Nigejozu for being a newcomer with just 30 chapters probably had more cover than 2 year Yozakura...
In my opinion in the next numbers they should give cover to: Yozakura, undead unluck, roboco, magu chan and High school family.... they just keep rotating between dr. Stone, one piece, black clover, nige jozu, my hero and new series... so sad

I assume extra pages isnt an indication of success or failure if I recall since even Nine Dragon's Ball Parade got them at some point.

Undead Unluck and Yozakura have some weird placements in the bottom 3 and get color pages for "sudden arc rise in popularity".

I think there is some pattern here kkkk seems like is more of a tactic to make the readers think the series isnt getting support and send the surveys, which judging by all the worried jp fans on twitter talking about sending votes and asking others to do, it works a bit,

If Nak really is randomly placing these series then why not do it with one of the big boys like OP or JJK? Nobody actually believes Yoza Fam got less votes than Candy Flurry but he still put it bottom 2 weeks ago

because the TOC should have never been taken that seriously to begin with.
MHA, JJK, and OP are clearly the pillars of the magazine right now, so obviously we'll never see them in the bottom. But everything else probably fluctuates so much because right now we have a lot of new series doing relatively well.

Isnt much a matter of believing or not that Yozakura or others are getting less votes than Candy Flurry but the fact it got placed there out of nowhere, which will scare the fans, and it did, last issue caused a lot of tweets about it, fans and overrall readers talking about Yozakura being last and talking about sending votes and etc, Yozakura and Undead are the kind of series that you can place in the bottom and not look ridiculous since they're 40k/50k sellers, people would just laugh if OP or JJK was placed last kkk

This seems more conspiratorial than anything. Sending votes doesn't actually benefit the series at all if they're already getting a decent number of votes.

If this happened just before a volume was released to try and artificially drive up sales, then it might make a fragment of sense, but as it stands you're suggesting the editorial is pretending YF and UU have fewer votes than normal to try and (temporarily) receive more votes than normal.

This doesn't actually accomplish anything but a slight increase in the total number of surveys (with a huge bias towards fans of YF or UU). There isn't any reason to do this at all, so I think your theory is extremely unlikely.

They might be experimenting with TOC order for other reasons, but "to scare fans" is most definitely not one of them.

It isn't random. No one can say for sure why Yozakura was placed last, but by and large, each series have pretty specific behaviors.

  • One Piece is guaranteed a #1 or #2 spot.
  • JJK will sometimes get the #1 spot. Otherwise, it floats above My Hero Academia.
  • My Hero Academia generally gets the #2 spot, is generally guaranteed a spot above #4.
  • Dr. Stone will sometimes get the #1 spot. Otherwise, it floats around #3 and #6 with Black Clover.
  • Black Clover floats between #3 and #6.
^^ These are the "mega successes" that monopolize the first six or so spots of the magazine. When someone opens a copy of Jump, these are the series the editorial wants them to see.
  • Blue Box has floated between #3 and #5 until this week. It's might settle down close to TES in the coming weeks. There is nothing unusual about this.
  • MASHLE generally floats #5 between #7 (basically the "upper middle"), with frequent bumps and dips of around 2 ranks.
  • Sakamoto Days likes to float between #7 and #9, with frequent bumps to around #5.
  • M:YF has been between #7 and #9 for a while now, but has wildly oscillated between much lower and much higher positions for the past few weeks.
  • The Elusive Samurai is pretty unstable. It seems to be settling around #9, with frequent bumps to #3 or higher.
^^ These are the "almost successes" that populate the middle of the magazine. They aren't household names but their potential and appeal are pretty much assured. Their isn't a strict hierarchy between them so they are generally pretty interchangable.
  • M&R rotates pretty evenly between #5-#7 and #9-#11.
  • HSF rotates pretty evenly between #6/#7 and #10/#11, but will sometimes rank between the two.
  • WW keeps between #9 and #13, with frequent bumps to #6.
  • UU keeps around #11/#12, with frequent bumps to #5 or lower (the brief recent boost aside, that is).
  • AyaTri keeps between #11 and #14, with occasional bumps to #8 or lower.
  • Magu-chan keeps between #11 and #14, with occasional bumps to #8 or lower. (On average, however, AyaTri ranks higher).
^^ These are the series that occupy the bottom of the magazine. Right now, there isn't any series that is in any particular danger of being axed, so Jump will sometimes throw a few of these series to the top of the TOC (for promotional and reassurance purposes, I imagine).

In essence, Nak isn't "randomly" placing anything. Every series has what more-or-less amounts to its own territory, and they stay pretty strictly inside them. But the order in which they're placed within these territories doesn't matter all that much, which is why we don't freak out every time we see a new TOC.

Sometimes, series will be placed much higher or much lower than their territory (example: M:YF last week), but as long as it doesn't become a trend there are zero reasons to panic whatsoever. I swear we go through this every week.
