Yozakura #22 is 6 days consecutive in the 200th ~ 300th range, that's great considering it's been a month and series like Akane and WW are far behind or dropping out.

Would be interesting seeing Mashima on Shonen Jump but he would have to really go out of his comfort zone, his writing style would just not work on WSJ ToC system.

Gondaira is the closest thing Jump have today, a color page machine, never get sick and published two full chapters one time including magazine cover and lead cp.

Another reminder that people shouldn't underestimate digital manga sales, which explains why print manga largely has been declining.

People will still underestimate until publishers or Oricon start to track digital, publishers secrecy gives the impression that digital numbers arent high enough to be openly revealed, but when shueisha go and say X manga started selling 10x more since the start of a anime season they should say what was the original numbers before so we can have a idea of what 10x more actually means

Why did two on ice flop so hard ?

I doubt it could have survived in the magazine but I at least expected better than only ranking a few days in shoseki.

It is it because it feels shoujo-esque in a shonen magazine , is it because the main character isn't that interesting ?

I felt that the first part was really interesting and that it at least deserved some recognition.

The second part has been more of a mess because it felt they mangaka gave up on trying to tell the two main characters story because of the bad rankings and only focused on telling sora's story which an interesting choice.

He definitely feels like a climactic villain the mangaka had already planned and that he just rushed along the mcs story so we can see more of sora.

Sora is both a gift and a curse to this manga, he helped gain the manga a bit more popularity and quality in some chapters but he also made it harder to like two on ice as a whole because of the whole structure of the manga falling apart a bit.

I wished undead unluck to get more popular even though I wasn't a big fan before its respective start and it flopped.

I won't put the same curse on yozakura family this time.

But The Shiunji Family Children is one of my favorite manga ever. He's a great writer and artist.

My dream scenario is to have Arakawa try her hand at Jump. Although, I question if her age can keep up with it. (I think she’s pushing 60 by now).

That said, she does have the option of drafting up a contract that is ridiculously tilted in her favor, which Jump has no other choice but to grovel and accept.
