Well I doubt there is any truth to Akaboshi getting canceled in issue 43 then. If they were going to cancel it so soon, they wouldn't put it so high. They would just keep it in the bottom. Also, Ane Doki has a color so nothing to worry about there. And it is nice to see Kochi so high.

Well, there was a series that was in bottom 5 from the beginning, but it increased massively to second top of top 5, but it still get axed on two weeks after. Also, Hitomi no Catoblepas's ranking wasn't really bad. It kinda moved around and not in bottom 5 for more than 2 weeks, but it sill get axed early. So, if Akaboshi fall again to bottom 5 on next week, it still has a chance to get axed.

I'm saying from my point of view, it seems stupid to move a series up outta the bottom 5 to the middle of the magazine that you were planning on canceling in a few weeks.

Chances are that there will be no cuts this time around. Since usually they cut the series before they bring in the new batch.

I'm glad that Akaboshi rises with only his history, without appeal. It isn't like Asklepios or Bokke-san, who kill a character in a attempt to rise.

I don't think that's why they killed a character. In both cases, it seemed like it was already something planned whether they had good rankings or not. The only thing is both artists realized they would get cancelled and had to rush their story.

Nothing else is ending this month or in October unless Hunter x Hunter comes back. The subject is barely worth talking about again until November. boring.

Impressed that Akaboshi moved from second bottom of bottom 5 to middle. It is fairly high rise. I hope this increase may consider for cancelation of Akaboshi. And, I want to see Medaka escape from bottom 5, too. I don't want Medaka to get axed.

I'm not sure why Kochikame got colour. Is colour for promoting a live-action drama or not? I thought drama isn't doing good.
it's ratings aren't anything to sniff at, being better than almost any other jump thing on the airwaves at the moment.

It's ratings are considered a bit low by durama standards. Drama's are supposed to crush anime ratings. Last years Rookies adaption was much bigger then Kochikame.

Glad to see Ane Doki getting color. While not Kawashita's best work, at least not so far, it's a really fun read! Nice to see Toriko and Gintama back in the top five.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

It's a very interesting TOC. Toriko and Gintama are back up high. Bleach's chapters have gotten a bit better now that they're paying off a lot of the build-up and exposition.
Bakuman and Psyren are pretty high, which is good since sometimes they end up in the bottom 5. Kuroko is also somewhere in the middle. The series is okay and it seems somebody's started Editing it again.
Besides it being odd that Beelzebub and Sket Dance are in the bottom (probably because Beelzebub is sort of in the transition between arcs) it's pretty good.
Also Reborn is low again. And Wajimania is still crap, all the new series except Anidoki aren't doing well. All this despite the big buffer that it TLR being gone.

The only series I've read from kawashita was Ichigo 100% and so far I think Ane Doki is more interesting specialy because the main character grows within every chapter, I'm happy it got colour.

Sket and Beelzebub are a bit of a buffer this week. Both are popular enough not to be in immediate danger. Reborn and Mago are also lower then their actual popularity. With D. Gray Man gone and HxH still on hiatus Reborn is the number four series in the magazine at the moment. New series can't rely on those as effective, long term buffers. Chances are at least two of the four will rise back to the middle or top five next week at the expense of something in the middle.

Reborn probably won't have action for some time unless they start a new action arc rigth now (but I don't think so we will probably have some talk for quite a while) it will be a litlle down until the fights begin again.

Sket Dance and Bellzebub will probably rise as for Mago I can't say anything cause I don't read it.

What is Mago about? Perhaps it is about magic?

I thought Rookies was really popular, though. I recall people saying the movie was a huge hit or something like that, anyway... Kochikame seems to be doing pretty badly, though (it took a huge hit in viewership for episode three, wow!). I can see why they'd want to promote it more.

I agree that we probably won't see any more cuts for a while, not unless HxH returns. It might give some currently low-ranking series time to become more popular. Will some series (Akaboshi and Medaka, I guess?) have tanks out by November?

Mago só tem relação com magia em português!
Mago in japanese is Grandson, so the name's Grandson of Nurarihyon. Tells the history of a boy 1/4 youkai, who wants to be the Leader of all youkais.

Kuroko and Reborn are a bit low, which is my only real problem with this week's TOC. But Kuroko doesn't seem to be in any real danger, and Reborn seems to fluctuate a lot, but it is still the #4 series in the magazine.

Rookies was a huge hit, though. It even got a film to conclude the story. It's also worth noting that Rookies fits the idea of a 'drama' a lot more than KochiKame does. It might not be a huge hit, but it's still getting pretty solid ratings.

Mago yoyos all the time, so in all likelihood it'll jump back too.

I wasn't gonna pay Akaboshi's ranking much mind, but even with some buffers I didn't expect it to QUITE be that high. Still gonna wait a couple chapters before I assume anything but this could get interesting.

In all fairness it has been getting better, though I wish a little more time was spent on the characters.

Well maybe if it holds into a decent rank from now on, the artist will be able to spend time on character development ;)

Yeah I'd be willing to give it another chance if it can go somewhere. I can see it improving significantly if it reaches a safe spot and manages to pull itself back together.
