just switched gintama and thats it :)
How is it better other way? By majority right?
Well, i don't give a fuck about majority so this way it looks better imho.
It is a bit much to switch everything and then suddenly say "Nah, I don't want To-Love on top so I'll switch it with Gintama". As much as I love Gintama, seeing To-Love on top just sounds hilariously ridiculous and not that bad...that and OP would never be that low.

Like i said, listing stuff by popularity is flawed from beginning so no matter what you do it'll be "hilariously ridiculous" and there'll be always one or two stuff down there that "would never be that low."

Well, listing them by popularity still has the advantage of getting us prepared for when one of the bottom ones is going to get canceled >.>

Plus it's not like those who actually buy the magazine read everything in it, they just read what's interesting and throw it away, so if you put it like that, it's only logical to rank by popularity so that the most read mangas are at the front of the magazine >.>

though if naruto were to be just before jaguar it would be a great way of getting readers to bother with the whole thing

anyway i think this is enough motivation to do another ideal toc over at the WSJ LJ... after beelzebabu hoop men and dgray come in

Naruto is probably almost over so I'm not concerned with it passing One Piece one time.

and meanwhile Eyeshield is climbing back up even while it's being rated off the HORRIBLE one chapter matches.

uh..... no. it's not climbing at all. colour pages aren't ranked, hence inumaru dashi dropping to the lower half. it's all just spaced out throughout the anthology

edit: whilst i remember, any long term jump fans know of this VERY short one volume series by Amon Dai(taizo's mangaka) i'm thinking of adding it to my shopping list...

http://www.amazon.co.jp/無敵鉄姫スピンちゃん-...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1234797882&sr=8-1

for JUS fans it's worth mentioning that i'm pretty sure its the child form of spin-chan on the cover.... ya know the other support from the taizo world

Dissappointed with Psyren and Bleach. I'm also surprised with Bakuman. Although the ranked chapter of Bleach might be the one with Yamamoto taking an entire chapter to finish off Allon so I can understand. I like Naruto and One Piece about the same so I don't care who's first. The only good thing I see about Psyren is that it probably won't be cancelled before Sket or Mago since it always does better in the TOC (at least in recent memory).

Also, Ataru based on your previous comment, I'm guessing that this week's Naruto is not that good?

it flipped with sket a while back, but both have been performing pretty well until these past coupla weeks. both perform far better in the toc than mago at the moment though, even with their tank sales considerably lower... to be honest i'm not too worried about all three, though mago could easily be capable of ending in about 10+ weeks or whenever the next cut comes

I think the biggest problems for both Sket and Psyren is how quickly and easily all these new series have been flowing into the magazine the last few weeks. When things were more stable with a notable dud in Asklepios, both of them had the chance to at least try and grow a bit and get a bit more out there. But with all these new series which are essentially immune for a while, both of them feel out of the ranks, particularly considering we have new series with no ranks, series about the same ages or younger which are bigger hits (Bakuman, Toriko)...and the old guard, with only two of which lower or closer to ending. (Neuro, To-Love) Somehow I still think Sket can survive rather easily to two years...but then we'll see where Jump and the real world takes it.

You are right, except its not logical but more efficient. Any its only efficient from producers perspective(WSJ in this case) not from authors, readers or anybody else's. Simply a great example of "alienation", not having control over your own product.

Especially in a issue like this, where one's job is merely a expression of his imagination and creativity by his own will..

Limiting them by a lame excuse under the name of "efficiencieny" won't give you any good results. Of course the consequences still won't affect the main thing so its still efficient from their point of view but what about authors?
Im not very familiar with these issues (wsj news, toc and stuff) but even i know a few series that got cancelled after 5-6 chapters. Hell, im more even curious about those who "survived", i wonder how many times they had to change their story, characters and stuff about their OWN manga?

By making popularity rankings every week* and even publishing “unpopular” ones at last pages its almost looks as WSJ is threatening its own authors in order to gain full control over their product. Can you imagine some guy from WSJ telling Naruto’s author what he should write next? That’d be ridiculous. Of course in a sensible world this would be unacceptable from any authors view. Then you put this toc thing there and say most popular serie will get first page and unpopular ones will be last. By all laws in this space/time, maths and physics we can say one of them should be placed last. So one of them no matter how popular it is, it can be even popular than any other manga out there or whatsoever, it’ll be published last. Seeing it’ll be published on last page anyone can assume it’ll be harder for that serie to climb back all the way to a decent place. Also we can pretty much guess which one will be cancelled when WSJ’s popularity seemed like dropping a little. Of course author knows this too so when he needs help, he’ll naturally go to WSJ. Heres a perfect circle for you, one employee at “top” who is working miracles and the ones at the bottom no matter how much good they are, never slacking, always working, trying for better which also means more efficiency and more profit. At first it'd seem a good deal for authors, always working to get better and stuff but in real world things works different the only stuff you'll have within a few years are frayed nerves, anxiety, stress, exhaustion et cetera.

All these happens just because producers don’t wanna take even a tinniest bit of risk of failure so they are pressuring authors in order to make everything perfect. I don’t think this result even worths at all.
So like Noodles said, changing publishing order to popular-unpopular-popular-unpopular would be more reasonable, at least there would be less pressure on authors and all those limitations on them would be gone. So there would be more creative ideas and more interesting stuff going on. Risk will probably increase but i don’t think result’ll change in any way.

uh.... you realise Kishimoto's editor was the reason Sasuke was created right? in fact naruto is a strong example of how editor's help expand works and improve them and such....

your approach IS close to fukuda's views in bakuman chapter 24 though, which is essentially what most readers themselves feel nowadays too, so it's not like we're pleased with the state of jump today.

These are all in theory though i don't really know how stuff works in WSJ, just what i saw from outside :) .
Well i still would like to see how would series turn out to be if that editor guy wasn't there, maybe it'd be better or maybe not, can't really say anything about that( and not really interested in Naruto :p ) but i still thing there shouldn't be any direct intervention to an author's work. Also to those who are working related to any kind of art too...

1 Naruto
2One Piece
3 Toriko
4 Gintama
5 Bleach(The hell?)
6 Kuroko
7 Reborn
8 Baku-man(the fuck)
9 Psyren
10 Bokke
11 Sket Dance(the FUCK?!)
12 Mago
13 To Love

a pretty poor TOC this week, toriko and kuroko excluded.... ah this week can go fuck itself i'll just wait for next week and hope for better things
Naruto being ahead of One Piece sucks.
Toriko rounding out the top 3 is great
Bleach dropping out of top 3 but being in the top 5 isn't great.
Reborn and Bleach should be switched.
To Love, Psyren, and Bakuman being in the bottom 6 sucks.

I seriously hope that both of these new series coming in fucking tank and give the others some more protection.

i just hope bokke-san and...... iono reborn in an ideal world, a newbie more realistically are the ones canned just to protect my beloved series.

though there's always a chance that Neuro will have finished by that point.

and it seems weird cause of the high colour count of low series (es21, neuro),but basically the only series to worry about are those past the 10 mark (SKET AND MAGO NOOOOOO) that aren't selling well in tank form.

............ wait.... all three of them are. and es21 and neuro do too....

what the hell do we do now?

Pray the new series suck.

I believe Eyeshield will be out by next cut. Neuro, while I don't read it, there seems to be rumbling from fans that this color page is the beginning of the end. When you consider next cuts may not be for another ten weeks that gives both series enough time to wrap up. Eyeshield hardly needs that long. Bokke seems to be in trouble, if it stays in the bottom five it will be the next cancellation. Sket, Psyren, and Mago should be safe at least till late summer. I hope.

As it currently stands:

-Neuro is having an anniversary color this week but essentially we know Matsui is done sometime in '09, more likely sooner than later.
-ES21 could still have a while to go...but after the nonsense of this whole World Cup arc, it could end rather quickly if Inagaki and Murata don't care anymore and just want to pull something akin to HnG or YYH.
-To-Love is a wild card but let's put it this way: romance series can end rather quickly and easily so if it ends, it can do so at the drop of a hat.
-I sort of hope Sket makes it at least to at least this summer (particularly since it could still get an anime) but after Mx0 I can't say that so assuredly anymore. It could rise, it could fall, I just don't know at this time.
-Bokke may end up a sacrificial lamb unless Beezle Babu and Hoop Men just bomb.

well i think when huff time comes for the three of them it'll come down to tank sales deciding it, meaning mago is safe. it'll be a war between psyren and sket dance. and no-one wants that....

i guess for now it depends on whether sket dance will get an anime announcement with it's 2 year anniversary in like 15 issues..... wait was that when it should be?

Sket started in July, '07. Meaning that if an anime begins in October, '09, July or August will be the big announcement.

hmmm well that's pretty hopeful. and if i'm not wrong isn't gintama ending it's anime run soon? if that's still the case or whatnot that would leave a brilliant team to handle it!

Lets just hope for the new series to bomb. We definitely do not need 2 basketball series in jump. >.>
