Mago in the top five after all this time is wonderful. Bakuman and Toriko essentially switch places; the former is usually right at the edge of the top five. Anyway if all is true and DGM is actually getting the cover and Mago is truly in the top five this will be my favorite TOC in a long time.

I was going to say this was about Mago's anniversary...but since that's next week, it may have finally hit a second wind somehow or another. Aside from that, it's a strange week with Toriko down, To-Love up, and Bakuman #3.

well Toriko will hopefully spring right back up to the top again, and in a righteous world so will inudash and sket dance... and psyren..

damn this cluttered toc, there's too much to care about and not enough to hate

.... except the obvious two

Great to see mago back again high. Imo it is the position it deserves. The arc that's now being rated is one of the better jump's generic shounen action arc

So D.G-m gets a cover :)

it wasn't all that generic until the end of the arc really. it did some things quite differently

I find it odd that they gave D.GM a cover for their second release after the hiatus...rather than the first. But hey, I'm not complaining. Bittersweet news for Sket Dance, good tanks sales and bad position in the toc.

DGM, finally <333

On a fitting note: I looked into Toriko and am really wondering how that's able to hold a high position. I have a lot of brainless average stuff on my lists as well and I'm a great fan of oldschool style but this one has really nothing appealing to it. Must be noted on my 'biggest mysteries of the universe' list >.>

and I wonder how Naruto, probably one of the worst written mangas in JUMP manages to stay in the top.

I guess it's just because it's about ninjas.

uh... this is for the first chapter of its return, and we should still be skeptical, i mean bleach was listed for the cover till now

and i think with toriko is it's just punchy and to the point, mindless entertainment through violence and humour, pleasing to a fine point...

Toriko´s awesome. Really. :amuse
That stuff is funny, unique, makes me hungry, has awesome concepts(heck, even a lot of biology and chemistry concepts) and a big, interesting world.

Oh, yeah. And Toriko makes half of the Jump main chars nowadays look like scrawny chumps. :p

Just out of curiosity, how many chapters did you read, eni? I think the Coliseum Arc(and all the stuff with the Battle Wolf) is the best example of Shimabukuro´s competence as a mangaka since Toriko started. If that part doesn´t help you like it a bit more, the series problably won´t ever fit your tastes.

DGM... cover... seriously?! o_O Well, that's definitely the best thing about it this week! Wonder why they couldn't give it #1; was that already decided, and Hoshino just managed to pull a cover out of her ass this week or something?

Definitely an odd ToC that affirms my belief that most of the series are actually doing well, and even a bottom 5 ranking (near the top) means that a series is just doing "not as" well. Heck, Kuroko and Inumaru are right above it, and there's no sign that they're doing badly. They could be... but with all the known successful series, colour pages, and newbie series above them...

Well obviously the general consensus is that it isn't one of the worst written mangas since it's able to stay on the top.

yes, but the 9 to 14 year old demographic means that any popularity consensus reached is ultimately unimportant, despite all our griping and defending, the series with sub par writing (reborn, bleach, naruto sometimes, love trouble) will only be a source of frustration to those of us who keep seeing WSJ as something more mature and competent than it is.

'cause that's how we all roll

8 chapters serious and than couldn't stand it anymore but because I wanted to see the wolf, I browsed up till that arc. Yet found it utterly disappointing as well, so stopped somewhere in that battle >.>

If something is poorly written, it's usually easier for children to understand...

That is not true. Especially children find every hole and ask a lot more questions as the average adult could think of.

They place high value in setting and characters. Naruto has a very appealing setting with it's world of asian and modern elements plus very likable and unique yet simple characters. Bleach offers a similar basic.

I like Naruto... pretty good manga.

But this is the ToC discussion thread, where it's cool to hate on popular mangas :x

bahhh, Psyren so low ;_; ... let's hope it can stay in the top 10 with volume sales.

Oh oh, nice to see that Bakuman is third in this toc and second in volumes sales. It's wonderful! However I don't like toriko, is too boring :\

That is not true.
Yes, it should be:

Oh really, I guess I misunderstood then. But it would make more sense as opposed to it being bleach. As for Toriko, I got up to 16 chapters, but it was all I could take. I suffice to say that I probably could have been a bit more tolerant.
