on the hoop men cp, and i'm amazed i didn't look at it earlier, but the main characters pulling ANOTHER STRANGE FACE. this time it's more he's not sure what his mouth is doing but still

Ah well, it's not as if all mangaka would be anatomic specialists. Just look at (early) CLAMP manga and every 'realistic artist' gets a shiver to the bone. Not to mention the typical manga hair and eyes. Maybe our standards have become to high ^^

it's only hoop men's colour pages that bother me though, the actual art is stylistic and beautiful in it's own way. for some reason though the 3 pieces of colour art we've had the priviledge of seeing have been really strange...

When you look for them, you'll find this weird art in the panels as well but it doesn't pierce the eye so much as the color pages.

But yes, I find it a little odd that the artist doesn't use his better art on the color pages. It's nearly as if he wanted to promote the worst he's got on the important promotion pages although the actual chapter art looks way better o_O

Normally one would think that the covers and colors are the ones that fool you through better art into the average art of the chapters. For some reason he does it the other way around

Naruto has better art? WHAT ARE YOU ON?!

I wish there was a thread to argue about how much better One Piece is then Bleach and Naruto (Naruto is absolutely horrid. I still read it, but only for lulz.)

Honestly, I suggest you give One Piece a read. It's not about the cartoonish art (even though the art probably is more mature then Naruto's.) the story is leagues above the majority of Shonen's I've read. And I've read just about every battle manga out there. I just can't understand Naruto's appeal at this point. The art looks terrible, the 6 tail form looks like Kishimoto he had Kubo Tite come in and told him to draw the worst possible design he could think of, and the villain is as flat as a piece of paper. There was no emotion from any of Pein's killings, and the DESTRUCTION OF KONOHA was even bland and forced.

I'm sure this post will be deleted because it doesn't have to do with the ToC, but it kind of does, because I don't understand Naruto's appeal, and even though it shouldn't and wouldn't be canceled, it should be put to bed before it gets even worse.

And it's not because Naruto has better art than One Piece, the art styles are different, and Naruto's style appeals to a lot of people over One Piece's style.

One Piece is overrated, it can still be the best manga out there but its still overrated IMO.

The thing is a lot of One Piece fans are like extreme Narutards with brains, which is a good combo to have.

the previews up on jump's site, and whilst it looks very nice, it's so ridiculously un-d.gray that it threw me off. makes me wonder how she made timothy look kinda awesome

Wow, I thought this week's DGM looked more Naruto than anything else (including DGM). But that's chapter content.

Yeah, the cover's awesome, minus a certain unusual colouring, but... I don't see the different art style, actually. ^^;; Well, it's the same as it has been in recent chapters, but that was different from... the last cover...

The art argument is solely based on opinion, but you're measuring Naruto's popularity over One Piece in America. On the whole, One Piece is just as, if not more popular than Naruto.

You're not a OP fan, so of course you say it's overrated. Anything that is immensely popular has it's detractors.

Are you sure about that? I don't see a "One Piece Nation" campaign. I don't see Viz releasing 3 volumes of One Piece a month until it is caught up with Japan. I don't see One Piece on the New York Times Bestseller list every time a volume is released...you get my point.

That was my point. Naruto and Bleach are more popular in AMERICA compared to One Piece, but globally (especially Japan), One Piece is just as popular if not more popular.

I still can't understand why it's more popular. If you compare Naruto and One Piece to the other king of anime in Japan and in America, Dragon Ball, One Piece is much, much more similar to it.

I guess One Piece isn't serious enough.
