What is this thread about?
This thread started in 2006 as a scan archive for Weekly Shounen Jump (WSJ) manga. It was essentially a place for all raws from WSJ that didn't have their own R/T/S threads here at MangaHelpers. Over the years, many members (including The Touch, xi0, Kylara, Asakura, Sai_the_Shaman, Waeyen, and Heiji, to name a few) have been helping out in this thread by scanning covers, ToC pages, previews, and sharing the raws they found or scanned.

With MH's upgrade to v2.3, there's no longer a need for a separate scan archive. This all new 2009 thread will be for you, the fans, to discuss whatever you like about WSJ! Predominantly, discussions will be centered around the ToC ranking that's posted weekly. You can also post the magazine covers and preview pages in this thread.

What is the ToC ranking?
ToC stands for Table of Contents. It's found on the last page of every issue of WSJ, but more importantly, the order the series appear in on the ToC is closely related to the popularity of the series. This is determined by polling the readers; there is a polling postcard in every issue of WSJ.

Each week, a certain guy from 2ch writes out TOC for the following week's Jump. TOC order is usually based on polling result of readers, thus you will know how your favorite series are doing based on the order.

Some exceptions etc:
- Pyu to fuku Jaguar is always at the last.
- Kochi Kame is usually at the last, too.
- For the 2nd-8th chapters, TOC is already decided, though it could change depends on readers' ranking.
- The TOC is affected by the popularity of 8 chapter ago.
- Shuei-sha's aiming their main target as elementary and junior high school students, thus, their votes weigh probably more than others (fangirls).
How can I find out what series runs in WSJ?
Click HERE for a list of all the current series running in WSJ. Each link will lead you to more details about the manga, and where you can find raws, translations and Edited Mangas for all your favourite series! You can also find past series in WSJ by changing the Status filters on that page.

Where are the past WSJ threads?
- Weekly Shounen Jump Scan Dump! [2007]
- Weekly Shounen Jump (Shounen Mag by Shueisha) [Archive 2008 and older]

Have fun!

Early Magazines F.A.Q.

Who are the people who post spoilers at 2ch?

First of all they are japanese.
They live in Japan and most of them are normal people.
By normal, i mean Junior highschooler, university students, salary men etc

Are they Jump insiders?

No, would you do that if you were one? Risking to be fired for that? I guess no.
But, from time a time, some of them post "spoilers" concerning Toc's (Rankings, New Series ...) before anyone can get the jump.
But i still can't clearly define "ko-neta" (named like that by Finestela)
He provides information on sundays but he seems not to have the jump in his hands (i can prove it but it would too long), some hints can be found
Here

How come they can get the jump one week before the release date, for some of them?

They get their copy earlier than they should.
Most of the industries in japan work in "just-in-time distribution" which mean that they immediatly ship merchandises after they were produced, to not pay stock taxes.
So they ship the fixes fastly that's how bookstores etc get them on monday/tuesday etc ( i don't how they manage the priority between stores) and are supposed to sell them only the next monday.
But some of them don't respect that and sell them to people they trust.

See here how one of them had problems by doing so in this article (Japanese)

But How american/chinese (taiwanese) and citizens of others countries get them early too (on friday)?

Because magazines are sent to foreighn stores at the same time it's sent to japanese's but they have shipping delay.

we reached the border of 2500 posts. also naming the second thread of this year "Part 1" is a little confusing ^^'

Really funny how people just judge a one shot (a serie too btw) by its colour page.

I'll just wait to see some more pages of blust. The colour page itself is okay

and yeah the ToC thread has become quite popular (compared to when I was on it during the mx0 days), we're not halfway gone and we're at a 1st coninuation :XD

Yeah, that's a little weird setting of this script >.>

Anyways, renamed ^^

That's just because.

Though, it looks like he has the light thingy deep 'in' his hand. In any case, the artwork looks really nice and after that (for me) boring sports wave I would really look forward to some sweet fantasy or sci-fic story.

You must've missed our discussion on Medeka Box that was based on that one preview page.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.2

I don't see a problem with forming preliminary opinions based on the material we have.

It's not like everyone's gonna stand by that to the death and refuse to give it a chance under any circumstance.

You are certainly allowed to that ;) (I do it often too: toriko, I judged that on its cover and now I love it so hard)

Forming preliminary opinions itself is certainly good but if I meant funny, I was referring to the iron man comment. That's a funny preliminary opinion that cracked me up (because well... it's a good comparison)

but you have to admit: you can't make a objective one just by the cover ^^

so now an on topic part:
psyren just above the danger zone. With D.g-m out of the magazine, I fear psyren might get a spot then again: its great current chapters aren't rated and I expect those to give psyren a new boost

In Psyren's defense, it isn't in the bottom 5 and hasn't really been in a while. Combine that with our latest "gutter series" in Hoop Men and we know it will at least make it a few more months...if not longer due to the series catching on in some ways.

Awww, new thread :)

Well, if you take Bokke out, it could verywell mean that Psyren is in the bottom 5! :p (Just teasing)

But to be honest with you, Psyren had me worried a bit during these past few weeks before the news on which ones are ending... While the rankings had been acceptable or even decent for Psyren, its tank sales isn't picking up much pace.

I thought the last thread was v. 2. o_O Oh well.

I think Psyren found it's second wind. I just hope it doesn't ever pull an Mx0.

I was actually judging it based on the one-shot. That's pretty fair...

ps. Is it just me or has the art for Medaka Box gotten better?

Actually, I meant the discussion that was based around the preview pic, you know the whole thing about fanservice?
