Akaboshi starts. I wonder if it or Medaka Box will do better once they both start getting ranked.

Hmm Kuroko is fairly low this week. Just barely out of the bottom 5.

I'm fine with Reborn's and Beelzebub's positions. Inumaru in the top 5 again is shocking.

Medaka and TLR color pages make me happy. Bleach is booted out of the Top 3 once again but this is a regular occurrence these days.

For them to let it drop on that chapter is blasphemy I say!

Medaka Box is definitely in sket dance's league. So I wouldn't be surprised if those two would fight a small war for survival. Akaboshi, given it'll be action, will definitely be in mago's and psyren's league. However there's still the cushion Hoop men. So either the new ones or one fail(s) and we have more cushions or they don't fail and a bottom serie will have to go later on (my guess: 9-10 weeks)

i think with eyeshield 21 limping to it's shameful conclusion we can expect that and hoop men as the next outs unless akaboshi fails hard (can't imagine medaka box failing)

Hmm...Gintama being in the top 5...either this is the week of the "one shot" with the Shinsengumi...or this is the start of the recent Tsukuyo arc. Either way, it's understandable one way or another.

Toriko probably is starting to "slump" either with it's novelty wearing off or Jump moving on to promote other new series like Beezle. And...well I think either Inumaru is a hit or it just likes bugging people.

I'm more inclined to think it was because of the finale of the previous arc... :p

Don't count ES21 out yet! It might pull a Captain Tsubasa or PoT and live on!!!

The fanbase really seemed to not like the Tama Quest arc. (I thought it was fun though) On the other hand, with the fanbase voting either for action arcs (Yoshiwara) or Shinsengumi stories (Tsuusengumi), I inferred one or the other. I really need to check the chapter this connects to.

Since last weeks volumes came at the end of the tracking period, week two becomes a better indicator of sales. Format: title (this weeks sales/total sales)

1. Naruto #46 (291,155/795,179)
3. Claymore #16 (85,933/181,233)
4. Eyeshield 21 #35 (80,171/183,504)
5. Toriko #4 (66,271/149,487)
6. Gintama character book (57,201/136,882)
8. Yu - Gi - Oh! GX #5 (45,085/99,798)
11. Kurenai #3 (40,188/94,313)
14. Kochikame #164 (34,701/82,451)
15. Neuro #21 (32,980/79,814)
28. One Piece #53 (19,588/1,789,091)

Only two series are of much interest, everything else pretty much sold for their average. One Piece 53 is colossal, probably the biggest individual volume of the year so far. Toriko #4 actually sold a little less after two weeks then volume 3. It sold 4000 fewer this time around. I'm worried it has stabilized at it's current sale; without some unforeseen circumstance pushing it what you see may be what you get.

It is the first OP volume of the year though, with the next one in June things may start changing up. (that or they really love Amazon Lily that much)

Obviously to early to say but: I think they really like Amazon Lilly ;)

1.7 million in two months is big even by One Piece standards. Volume 50 was the best selling volume of 2008, it came out last June and had sold 1,678,208 when the top 50 was released last November. 53 is 100,000 ahead of 50's five month totals.

Toriko 4's second week is actually much better than I've expected. The number is A LOT higher than that of second week sales for Toriko 3. The 4k less in cumulative total is negligible, if not an indication of decent performance, because it has 2 less days.

In short, the second week data cleared up my concern about first week's weaker than expected number.

Toriko and One Piece were big surprises. 1.7 million is pretty fucking huge and easily dwarfs the next best selling volume among the batch. XD

I'd say its way to early to even guess that with only one TOC that showed this sort of descent.

I also doubt it was the "slump" based on how far the series fell in one week. It's usually a longer process where the the series in questions average just drops a little at first until the change becomes more noticeable after a time. But 4-5 spots in one week when it normally kept around 3-5 is ridiculous.

I'd say a fluke or in Japan they hate Coco.

There's also the possibility it was "unnaturally" high. Funny how Toriko started it's slump right after Beelzebub started getting ranked.

actually if you look at the postcards it makes perfect sense. people start voting something else as number 1 each week instead of toriko it will inevitably slump

Akaboshi looks interesting art-wise. I want to see how the story plays out for it. If it can be done well like Houshin Engi was that would be cool.
