Naruto
Beelzebub
Hôkenshitsu no Shinigami (Color Page)
Bleach
Reborn
Kuroko no Basket
Wajimania
Toriko
Kochi Kame
Sket Dance (Annonce Roman, Color Page)
Nurarihyon
Gintama
Bakuman
Inumaru
Ane Dokî
Psyren
Akaboshi
Madaka Box
Kagijin
Jaguar
One Piece (Absent)

#43 (21/09) :
Nurarihyon no Mago (Lead Color Page)
Lilienthal, Beelzebub (Color Page)
Ugh, Kuroko and Wajimania are way too high. Go back to the bottom 5 please. Toriko should be higher than both.

Congrats to Beelzebub for taking number 2 and beating Bleach. Kind of wish Reborn and Bleach would have swapped. =P

Mago's spot isn't bad and Bakuman's position is alright with me. This ToC leaves much to be desired for me. =/

I can't believe kuroko is above bakuman T__T

Anyway, I think I'd better get used to the fact that bakuman is not a Jump mainstream manga, so It being so down in the charts won´t bother me anymore...

Kuroko in the top 5, Waji out of the bottom five and Beelze in freaking second place? Ugh, worst week of the year. I only hope Inumaru doesn't go back up this time.

Y'know, sometimes people just like a good (or bad in this case) gag series. So seeing Waji that high may dissapoint some but could also push someone to maybe look into and ultimately translate it just like Inumaru slowly got more trust.

Oh BTW, good week for Kuroko and Beezle as well, showing they have staying power too...and while I really wished next week WAS the Naruto anniversary, Mago taking the cover isn't too bad now that I think about it.

But how can people like it if it's bad? I personally hate Inumaru with a passion, but at the same time I kinda understand why some people like it enough to keep it high on the ToCs despite its abysmal sales. But Wajima is just so bad it makes me want to punch whoever votes for it in the reader polls in the face.

well, it must be received pretty well by the japanese readers (unless WSJ is just blindly promoting the series for some unknown reason).
if that really is the actual popularity of Waji, then it must have worked pretty well, whether or not we hate it.
Kochikame is pretty high these days... maybe its because of the drama and all the promotions?

First off, congratz to Beelze for being so high! Kuroko being so high is meh...but Wajima....what's wrong with Japan?

Can't wait to see the Mago cover if it happens.

Both internet and public response to Waji in Japan have been very negative, which explains why it's previous ranking were low. Let's just hope it's going back to the bottom. Kochi kame drama rating is very low, especially compare to the previous series occupying it's time slot, Mr. Brain. I think jump's still trying to revive it.

hmmm... i honestly don't really get Jump's attachment to gag mangas.
i mean isn't 2 or 3 gag mangas enough?

Well gag manga are generally pretty popular in Jump and other Shonen magazines so maybe they are just giving it another chance...or maybe it had a good chapter.

Glad to see Beelze at number two. Sure it takes One Piece going on break for any other series to sniff the top two, but it's still an accomplishment.

I've been thinking: maybe Waji is actually popular. Don't laugh, it is possible for someone to like something we've never had the opportunity to see. It's not like the raws have been publicly posted. But if it still bothers you remember Poseidon ;)

I think Wajimania can be like Poseidon. Poseidon also had been high place, despite of being lots of negative responses. I think Wajimania might finish in same chapter as Poseidon, which lasted 18 chapters.

The editors seem to do that; place a gag series high no matter what the fan response. If it's not doing well it drops into the basement about a month before cuts. If Waji is still a part of the magazine in December, assume it's popular. Until then it will be very hard to tell. The same controversy happens here with every gag series. I blame Penguin >.<

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

^So maybe the current Wajimania chapters aren't actually being ranked? Editor love, spreading the gag... something? Heck, maybe it's already doomed and so the next few chapters just don't matter, ranking-wise. It could be like Akaboshi last week, or...

...anyway, I don't think Wajimania has a chance.

Beelzebub THAT high? Is it really such a good series? (Poor Toriko; it would've been up there once, and now...)

Kochi kame drama rating is very low, especially compare to the previous series occupying it's time slot, Mr. Brain. I think jump's still trying to revive it.
But but Mr. Brain is a Kimura Takuya drama. Very few series achieve those rankings anyway. Very, VERY few. And I think it had a lot of cameos and stuff.

Then again, the KochiKame main actor is from the same group... but still.

Actually, looking at previous dramas on that network/timeslot, most were doing about the same as Kochikame is, on average (it had a much bigger drop in viewership to recent episodes, though, hence the "average"... yeah, it's not doing so well now. Maybe it's just not that good? Has anyone seen any episodes?).

Early rankings for gag are just impossible to judge. Waji could sink like a stone by November or become a magazine staple.

Apparently the Kochikame drama has had mediocre rather then bad ratings. It's been averaging an 11.3 in Kanto, a little lower then expected. Or so say ANN.

I'm glad to see Kuroko so high up again. Aside from that, there's not much to say other than that it's surprising to see Beelzebub coming in second place. We've definitely seen a lot of shifting in Jump over the past year.

Considering our situation this time last year, Beezle is just doing what Toriko had done and hopefully will probably show itself as a future big hit with the promise it has.
