Yeah, I have to say that this surprised me a bit. However at the time I read chapter 142's last page, I felt this sensation that the series it was near the end, but not after only a week.

At this point I'm not even so sure about a sequel.

Changing the subject, in Issue #41 there was the one shot "Ristorante Carcere", interesting but what caught my attention is that there're some italian words and two of them are badly written.



In the first page it's written "Frambare" but the right word is "Flambare", that surprise me because the origin of this word isn't Italian but French (Flambé).

But the best is in the last page. "Chuiso" isn't even exist in Italian and the correct word is "Chiuso".

Isn't the first time that I see such errors, also in Shokugeki no Souma I've found a big one...



What I wonder is, there isn't a supervisory person in the department of Shueisha which deals with the check of foreign words?!

I'm surprised to see these errors and I wonder if there aren't more in other foreign languages.

Well that escalated quickly. My gut instinct was making me think with current events that unless Ishida has it in mind to do a timeskip, that the series would end. I just didn't think that WYJ would only give us a week notice. I have to wonder if a sequel will happen sometime down the road?

The editors probably don't care/ don't know since the target audience (aka Japan) doesn't know/ doesn't care aside from a few linguistic/language fanatics.

It wasn't a week's notice. It ended in the new issue, with no prior announcement.

Well then, I guess I'll just have to buy all 14 volumes of the series whenever I can and actually read it in one go. No point in me reading the scans or getting public raws to fully read it.

That's even more disturbing. They're totally treating it like it got cancelled rather than bowing out at the height of it's popularity. Though with seinen mags popularity is a relative term anyway.

I doubt Ishida went to the editors and said 'Yup, gonna end TK Ghoul today, sorry.' They had to have known at least a few weeks/months in advance that this was going to happen. Maybe the anime was just that bad. We should try and get Pierrot to animate series we hate and see if they can get those ended too.

I still feel like there might be more someday, TBH.

Bad or not, the sales skyrocketed, and are still rising a lot. Which in the end, is what matters the most.

They've been animating Naruto since 2002 though....

I just did. Gotta say, I'm almost enjoying being trolled this hard. Nice work Ishida.

That being said there certainly is a lot left up in the air by this ending if it really is the end. Some characters didn't even appear duing the last 'arc'. While the ball is in Ishida's park as to whether there will be a continuation --I can't lie that I find the idea of it really never coming back hard to fathom.

There being no preview for a sequel doesn't mean that Ishida Sui has no plans to continue this story immediately, in a year or in a decade.

As long as there is an audience and economical potential (entertainment value and storytelling tendencies are important, but sadly secondary), sequel is always a possibility in this industry.

Then again, if it is a final end, it is a testimony to Ishida's word: Tokyo Ghoul is a tragedy.

New series: Nijigen Jumpin' by Tsutomu Takahashi (Hito Hitori Futari), 61 pages
Color: Barcelona no Taiyou, Kakuriyo Monogatari, Cyclops Shojo Cypu (End)

It looks like the new series will be about manga, possibly similar to Bakuman.

Miracle Jump 11 will have a 53-page oneshot written by Yokosaru Shibata (81diver) and drawn by Masahiko Aoki (The Town of Butsuzo), and a poster of Tokyo Ghoul and Godspeed (probably double-sided, not together).
