As always any series that showed some life in its first volume, had major drops in the second one. While that was expected for Shuttle Eyes and Maid in Hikkomuse, Kawaisou ni ne, Genki-kun has to be a big disappointment for YJ. Unlike others, they had faith in this one. Also, looking at the daily ranking it had been holding up worse than the first volume, so overall drop could be worse.

Unlike Sunday, Young Jump has been able to find series that could catch the attention of the readers. Just looking at first volume sales, there has been a lot of promising newbie in the last 2 years or so. The problem is almost all of them did get rejected past the first volume. Honestly, %30 or something drop Kawaisou ni ne showed could even be considered as average for YJ new series.

To be clear, I don't think Kawaisou ni ne, Genki-kun is dead or anything. While it's not doing much better than Doujigun Kan and Tiempo which just moved to Tonari no YJ, clearly they favored this series more than others newbies. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, we will see which is it.

On another note, Diner has returned to pre-movie sales, so the movie didn't help much and Batuque had a somewhat positive data point. It was the first time it didn't show any drop from the previous volume.

Seeing this list is pretty tough to look at. So many bombs, axes, and transfers out this year. Seeing the Hikkomuse sales after how much I loved Umaru hurts me. I'd really like to see Sankaku Head come back again once Hikkomuse ends with something else more closely aligned with more of an Umaru vibe. Maku Musubi was pretty interesting, Kanojo no Yasei seems to be pretty funny, and seeing Kawaisounine drop like that (even if the subject matter still doesn't completely sit right with me) caught me by surprise.

Second chapter is out.

My initial impression after the first couple pages of Kubo-san wasn't that stellar, but as I got farther into the chapter, I found the sense of humor that helped distinguish it from many of the other romcoms that I read. Those were some top-tier pouting faces as well lol. Hopefully Kubo-san can find its own niche and stick around

Interesting how Young Jump is continuing to give out color pages to the series that really seem like they're not working out. I've been enjoying the series, but I'm surprised to see Maku Musubi getting yet another color page. It really seems like they want the series in this most recent batch to stick, with the exception of Pochi Gokko for some reason.

I'm really curious to see what Kowloon Generic Romance is going to be about since the author's previous work was pretty interesting. Hopefully they'll be able to get some success in WYJ. Pretty interesting that the author decided to switch publishers to do this work too.

GED, Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai and Golden Kamui are still there at least. Not like YJ has a lot of popular series anyway (and Libidors/Kanojo no Yasei are far from that).
