I honestly have to wonder what got YJ to where it currently is. They've been on a massive downturn since 2015.

Their new series have had an exceptionally rough time for the past few years, with the only exceptions pretty much being spin-offs of already popular stuff (Kaguya and I'm sure the new Gantz series will doing alright at least). Several long-running series that sold pretty well also ended during that timeframe with nothing even remotely as successful sales-wise taking their places.

I can't guarantee they'll do well enough to survive, but Kubo-san, Kowloon, and Kimi no Koto have been the first batch of new series that have really impressed me in a while. Kaguya's spinoff is nice too and Shadows House is eerily interesting, but a lot of serialization just felt like the same old edge-fest rehashed in a slightly-different form. Oh yeah, almost forgot Maku Musubi has been pretty good too

Kaguya only lost to Gotoubun on this day, so glad to see its doing well still. Looks like the Kaguya spinoff wasn't able to crack the Kimetsu backlog wall, but this is still good regardless. Kawaiisounine looking like it may still be doing good enough for now, but it doesn't seem to be growing, so that must be disappointing for WYJ. Binbin is actually higher than I imagined, but I'm guessing it'll probably drop fairly quickly off the charts.

I second the notion that Shape Shifter should be the next one it bite the dust. Its sales have always been atrocious, even by WYJ newbie series standards. There are a lot of underperformers right now, but maybe Kanojo no Yasei may also be a candidate as well. Unfortunately, its last volume tanked pretty badly as well. In fact, I'm a bit surprised Shuttle Eyes is ending before a couple of these other ones. Hopefully Kubo-san, Kimi no Koto, and Kowloon have what it takes to break this vicious cycle of axing and transferring

I am sure Shape Shifter will end soon, but issue 9 seems too early. I don't think there will be enough chapters to fill a volume by then. It's not impossible of course, they could fill the volume with other things like oneshots. But in issue 9, two series will have enough chapters to fill a volume (Shuttle Eyes and MoMo). Oh yeah, I forgot to factor that in. I was about to say that it could be more series if they decide to do a transfer instead of an axing, but I forgot the original message said 2 series were ending, so something transferring out probably isn't the case this time around. There's still quite a bit in danger: Kanojo no Yasei, Maku Musubi, Momo, and Shape Shifter are probably the prime targets since they're a bit older. Alma is pretty much on the short list to be added to this list once it gets a little bit older, Libidors sells pretty poorly, Binbin isn't really showing signs of large-scale success, and most of the short series (Snack, Made, Shadows) aren't selling too great either.

I'm still shocked they transferred out Ginga, which sold about 50k volumes in 18 days for its most recent volume. Either Ultra Jump really needed something to buff up its lineup, or the author wanted to transition to a consistent monthly schedule.

I agree. I also prefer seeing everything in color for this series. It especially adds to the eeriness when the shadows show up as a contrast to the colorful living dolls.

Maku Musubi getting nominated was definitely the biggest shock on the list for series that I'd heard of before, which was most of the list. I wonder if this nomination will either bring about an increase in sales or help stave off the ax that I previously thought was impending.
