Batuque will end its serialization in Young Jump in 11 chapters (chapter 84 which complete the future volume 8)
Then it will be published in Tonari no Young Jump (Web)
I'm very happy with Kowloon so far, I was a big fan of After the Rain's anime, as well as what I read of the manga, I wish for Mayuzuki's continued success.
Kubo-san managed to crack the top 50 on bookwalker, which is nice, helped along by a generous coin bonus. Not read my copy yet, but word of mouth seems pretty good!
Hopefully they'll both be able to keep this favorable reception up and not suffer the same declines that Kawaisounine ended up having with later volumes. Kubo-san and Kowloon are both pretty interesting stories, especially the latter. I'm really not sure what's going to happen next in it

Kowloon and Kubo-san had a decent start. Kowloon did a lot better than Kubo-san, but it is from the author of Koi wa Ameagari no You ni, anything less than this would've been disappointing. What matters is whether or not they could build on to this in the following volumes. YJ had a lot of new series with decent first volume sales before. But all of them failed to hold on to those sales, let alone build upon it. That being said, Kowloon started high enough, even if things go sour it could last for a long time in the magazine. Kubo-san less so, but having shorter chapters could help maybe, I don't know.
The thing is with Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu gone, YJ has only 4 established series (Kingdom, Golden Kamuy, Kaguya and Bungo). All the others are either too new or not doing well in sales. It is a challenge to replace all of the failed series. So some series lasting more than expected is inevitable. Who knows which series will it be. You can't really figure it out just by looking at sales or TOC replacement.
I was surprised that MoMo didn't move to Tonari with Maku Musubi. Since it doesn't have good sales and its replacement in the TOC has been bad for a long time now. But, maybe I shouldn't have been. Maid in Hikkomuse in the same situation and it has been in the magazine longer. I just keep forgetting it even exists. They're from veterans and they don't do that bad in the sales. So I guess, YJ is gonna let them finish their series in the magazine, instead of moving to Tonari for one or two finale volume. Though I think MoMo could still move after 5th volume.
Most of the series moved to Tonari, ended within 1 or 2 volume. It is obvious they didn't plan to continue them in Tonari. It is just a way of giving creators more time to finish their stories. There're exceptions like Diner and I guess it could be the same with Batuque and maybe even Tiempo.
Despite being in different genres, I think Shadows House is in the same situation with Snack Basue. It is a short series (12-14p) that doesn't sell much, but stable. It is probably not going anywhere for now. It is possible its digital sales are good too, though I don't know if that's really the case.
