Re: NHK

there are no further chapters scanlated...
i couldn't even find the raws... although somebody who has their share or winny correctly configured might find them ^^;

in general:
for english chapters check Evil Genius, they have the latest ones. and vol. 1 is out by tokyopop in english, btw ^^ their quality is quite good for the series (proud owner of original copy speaking)
for raws... i dunno >.> maybe ritual scan forge (google it ^^) provides the latest chapters. otherwise try getting share and/or winny... there should be at least some of the raws ^^

Has it already ended? How many volumes finally?

The last I read was the 4th tankoubon, I have to retake this manga :P

This series end at Chap 40, Vol. 8 and currently the scans are already out till Chap 38. I used to like this story a lot for its quirkyness. Now it seems that its ending was cut short, which is kind of unexpected, considering it was quite interesting in the beginning.

Welcome to the NHK

Has anyone else seen this anime (or has read the manga or novel)? I consider this the best anime I've ever watched.

You can find the first 3 episodes on youtube. I recommend at least watching the first episode.

This is shounen, not seinen. Moved and merged with the existing discussion thread :)

If you want to discuss the anime, feel free to create a thread in the Otaku Theater (not sure if there's already one, atm).

I loved this anime, hopefully the manga tops it.

Should be. I stopped the anime because it was disappointing compared to the manga, imho.

Yeah, there isn't an anime thread for NHK, feel free to make one.

I haven't checked out this manga yet, I will have to. >.< Has this series finished serialization or is still being serialized?

It came out way too long ago for me to start it, but i did love the anime. I felt it was one of the best written short anime's i've come across. At times i felt it spoke to me and was a reflection of my own life. I remember that i actually got emotional at parts.

Sadly though, i'm discouraged from checking out the manga because one group hasn't followed through with it and there appears to be a huge four volume gap.

Also i have a question, does this continue on after the end of the anime, or is it simply a 'better' version of the anime?

Huh? Where is that info coming from? The manga has long finished and is complete scanlated (eight volumes) by Evil Genius. There's no gap.

The story is originally a novel (2002-2007) which was adapted into a manga (2004-2007).

The anime was made in 2006 - two years after the manga started but it ended half a year before the manga finished. So the anime starts like the manga but the ending should be different (as I said, I haven't watched the whole anime because it wasn't as good as the manga, in my opinion).
