Gifts from a friend.

She is leaving back to Japan with her family, but decided to give me all her stuff (nice food, bowls, gadgets) as she can't be bothered to take it back with her.

The prize of the bunch is this amusing t-shirt/alcohol selection

A bit early for my birthday but my girl already got me some presents that I could not help but open!
And when I did (with her permission ofc)- gosh ! Alls I can say is that she is very thoughtful and I'm glad to have her in my life!
The happiness I feel is 'off the chain!' as they say it in Gregs peeps language. The happiness I feel right now or have been for the past few hours....
not due to the presents itself but due to her and her thoughtful, kind-full ways. I am blessed!

My boss [conditionally] accepted my proposal to try out a new method for super high resolution (a few nanometers lateral resolution) detection of molecules in biological samples.

If my idea actually works, this could be a super useful technique for precisely detecting the exact location of receptors within biological samples.
(but, it does hold a strong chance at not working how I believe it should... still, let's think positive eh?)

I have been thinking about this for a while now, but not wanted to ask my boss for permission till I had some literature to back up my ideas, I found a very nice paper this morning and he thought "it is at least worth a try, if it fails it isn't too much time wasted".

It means that, if I am right, I can potentially detect where individual molecules within a cellular membrane are within a sample within a few millionths of a millimetre precision.

Many reasons, but for my lab - we want to be able to detect how individual sub units of ion channels are co-localized within biological tissues - the more accurate we can be, the better.

There is one more awesome thing, if I am right, in that we won't need to do conventional antibody labelling, so can test as many different molecules as we like, on a single sample.

... theoretically...

This assumes no damage to the sample itself, or any other unforeseen consequences of my technique.

People may call me crazy, but going back to work after two days at home sick made me happy. I dislike just sitting/lying still for too long, since I have an actively physical work.

Especially nice because I only had to work for one day before it was time for a four day weekend (bc of Easter).

Also, made a hella good deal on summer tyres so I saved about 2000 SEK there.

Also, found out I get >4000 SEK back on my taxes.

Playing with Destiny even tho our time was limited. It was fun to think outside the box and developing the incredible talent to pull out hair when you get lost in the clue /hint.

IT was short but fun.
Only downside will be not achieving the prize to ban haku from Claire's thread. ://
