Reading manga is different from turning on an iPod or cracking open a book. The main difference is that we have to wait for releases as they come out, and most of the time we read manga online. Unlike other hobbies, there are a lot of steps that need to be taken in order for us to be entertained; the fact that it's a medium that is specific to the Japanese language plays a role.

EDIT: I prefer to read novels in one sitting, but I can't do that with manga since I have to wait chapter by chapter for an on-going story to be completed. Personally I read prose fiction faster than manga for some strange reason.
Well,of course it depends on the way you consume manga. If you buy the hard copies, you are much less likely to lose interest or stop by chance, especially because you can always buy complete series.Though I have to admit that,as most series are ongoing and only available online, even I tend to forget about several series.

While weekly/monthly releases are a hindrance, they are not such a big factor, or at least i don't they should be. Also there is the factor that it takes a lot less time to read a chapter a day and then one can follow the releases. I mean there are ppl who watch telly right? while we all love watching movies at one go, that didn't stop ppl from following series like x-files or friends or recently house and prison break for years.

One can always read the completed serieses as googlez pointed out too.

I don't think I will ever stop reading Manga, but I guess there would be a time where I won't be able to read as much as I want ... but will never stop until I die.

When I reach the old age where I begin to think that reading manga is juvenile. Honestly, I don't know, but I can just see myself reaching an age where I will suddenly stop reading manga and watching anime altogether.

I guess, when either blatant fanservice going to be the new norm for manga, or when I just dont have fun to read manga anymore. I read manga, for the same reason I like to read books: Because it is fun.

When all my ongoing series are over. I don't plan on starting any new series since most of the new things, I can't find appealing.

never. I'll keep my collection until I can give it away to my grandkids- in which I have already secured that my kids have shared the love for it and have passed it on properly to their children.

I've only dropped a handful of manga. (Including Vampire Knight. :derp) As much as possibe I try my best to read on thinking that maybe it'll get better some chapters later. But when I keep yawning and get very sleepy reading it, I know I've reached my limit.

Usually, I'm not one to say that I will never do something, but I do enjoy manga very much and there are such a widespread variety of them that I don't think I'll ever completely lose interest in reading them. There is always bound to be something out there to read that I have not yet read that could pique my interest. I'm sure the day I completely stop reading manga will be...never?

Never. But If i can sound off here.

One thing about manga media that slightly makes it harder to keep up with is that if you read it as a main entertainment vein, the amount of manga and their release dates make stuff really hard to keep up with. I have like 15 on my 'reading' list. Which pales in comparasion to some people's lists. And even my small amount is hard to shuffle through with weekly releases, and breaks and translation/scanalation team breaks. And eg.

Maybe because i come from reading actual books that are finished products in a single package but keeping up with manga at times is a bit of a drag. Specially when you find a great one that gets discontinued because the group working on it would rather help speed up production of something already popular like attack on titan or something.
