Heheheh I live in Indonesia...and where we'll be in next 40 years? we still be here. All the same, the monetary crisis, the corruptions, the crimes, the ethnic conflict anf etc etc etc......... :smile-big

Why??? even me myself had no idea what's goin' on in this country....it's seems that all we do is always lead us to another disaster...no politicians that good enough to bring this nation to the place whre it should be.

We're imperialized for more than 450 years...and yet now after 61 years from our independence we're still strugling from new born imperialist that's Economy, monetary or whatever it is...and what is worst that's what in our legislative's is MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY :bow ...forget bout bring the whole nation the better future, forget bout those who's vote for them to be in legislative, forget bout what they're there for...have you seen a fight (i mean really fight not only sarcastic words...this time hands works faster than head^^) in a legislative court which supposedly concpeting public benefit...where's the fun wathcing 40-50 years old man punch and kicking each other wearing formal suits...the other don't know what's goin' on cause somehow he's sleeping in the court room. And there's stil lots ,more amusing show that our government gives to us :smile-big

Well...our college students not even better...almost everyday we heard our colleger walk along streets holding banner gainst government policy...protesting every step that government's made...shouting blah blah blah blah....dude...wheren't you supposed to be in your college instead of blockng the streets and caused traffic???lolz

Man I love my country...n if 40 years later when i still alive...thinking bout how far we've come and realize that we're not making any progress...well i'm not surpripsed :smile-big

I love my country anf i'm proud being Indonesian :)

40 years from now... hm... that's really hard to predict, because the U.S. has always proved to be very unpredictable > . >

After taking AP govm't (or rather, taking AP US govm't right now) I'd really like to see the U.S. become more democratic. Seriously. Have our government politics are controlled by govm't bureaucrats that aren't even voted for by the people, whose policies and laws (yes, our Congress is too damned lazy (or maybe just too OVERWORKED) to write out their own laws, so they have bureaucrats do it for them) are voted for by judges who, once again, aren't voted for by the people, and an executive branch which is headed by a president who actually isn't voted in by the people, rather he's voted in by the electoral college (which is voted into power by the various state legislators). The house and senate are kinda screwy too - the house has so much disporportionate representation, in which a place that has more people than some states (ie., Washington D.C., which has no senators and no house reps, has more people than, say, South Dakota) has absolutely no rep at all. The senate is even worse - 95% of the population is represented by 70 senators (I think, it might be a little more but certainly not a lot more) whereas the other 5% is represented by the remaining 30 senators. One of the jokes that my teacher said during class was that we should take all the kids in my H.S. (about 3000) and drag them down to some really small state and vote for someone there, thereby completely changing the election outcome in that state xD. Tough luck, considering that, as the more "cool headed" and "gentleman-y" of the two houses, the senate calls all the big shots. I'd really really love this part of the constitution amended.

Politically, economically, and culturally?
After 40 years Poland, I think it will be the same with politics and all that stuff, including economy as well. It will stay the same as it is, I'm not seeing this bright, and that's why people are leaving to other countrys.. About culture? What I can say, probably it will improve in younger generation, their life culture and style.

What would you like to see improved in your area, in your government, in your own local area?
Seriosuly, nothing special. If only they would do "Normal" streets, not such poor when after winter it will have multum holes in asfalt :x

Loaded topic, I know, but I'm curious since we have so many people from around the world here.
I think that is not loaded here :P I'm not into politic as well ^^"

In 40 years: I hope belgium will not exist anymore and flanders can be a country on its own
In 40 years: economically we will be even more dependable on the import of foreign goods
In 40 years: culturally nothing will change I think

I don't know what Italy is goin to be, but I believe that thanks to the works of many politicians the bureaucratic system is goin' to be rotten!

Well I can honestly say I dont see Mexico being any different until we get rid of the corruption problem.

When that is solved and we get a good President then we can begin to prosper like it was in the 20's-40's. Mexico has great capability to be great but everyone has to have the same mind-set. We must all work for the same goal.

I've been to Mexico and met a man who was trying to help better Mexico. Mexico is a lovely country. The young males seems to have a lust for Caucasian women.

Anyway, I think in 40 years, the U.S. will be destroyed by it's own people. Morality will be go down the drain. Race wars might erupt. Education here actually indoctrinate people. True patriots will be persecuted and burned at the stake. The nation will be divided. A civil war starts. This will allow enemy countries such as Russia, China, North Korea to take advantage and invade the U.S. Another reason for them to able to do something like this is because the U.S. troops are spread too thin not leaving enough soldiers to protect the shores at home.

Economically, the U.S. isn't doing so good so poverty will be on the rise. More homes will foreclose with the hike in interest rates. Energy bills also rise. These will aid in the civil war and anarchy that follows.

well, usually ppl say portugal has loads of inteligent workers and that should be good, but since they all go to foreign countries i guess in 40 years we will still be in the "tail of europe" xD and probably in 100 years we will be in the middle of the atlantic ocean thanks to the global warming...

We'll the only thing for certain for any country is that it has room to imporve, so no matter what country it might be there are always problems. Therefore we will always try to see our own country a little better off than what it is today.XD

The future of Costa Rica is gonna be decided today in the first national referendum in history. It's about whether we should approve or not the CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement) between Central America, Dominican Republic and the United States.

EVERYTHING in this country depends on this. My professional future is directly linked to this event. Depending on the results, I might end up moving to another country.

YES TO CAFTA!!!!!!!!!!

In 40 years, we'll still be in the shadow of the US, and we'll lose the role of "peace keeper" to some other country because of the stupid government that keeps supporting bush and sending our troops into needless wars because we don't wanna be enemies to the US

Good news for me, the YES won the referendum by a very narrow margin. But a win is a win. :p

Philippines
Philippines 40 years from now:

Economically, I think it will have developed somehow. I expect there is a raise in the income level of the people but I also expect that the gap between the rich and the poor will also widen, meaning the rich becomes richer & the poor becomes poorer. More multinational companies will extract our precious resources while giving only a meager share to our country. And due to the promotion of call centers to set up shop in our country right now by the government, forty years later, one call center could occupy a 100 story skyscraper.

Politically, still full of traditional politicians ("trapos" [a Tagalog term meaning "rags"] we call them), still on the sideline in world or in Asian politics for that matter...still following the dictates of some neo-imperialist states (First World countries, I mean). More militant leaders will fall. I predict that Communist rebels will still be around (and will become hi-tech in their guerrilla tactics...hehehe). Rebellion/secession will still be present in my beloved island of Mindanao because of the very fishy way the military is curbing the rebellion unless they do something now.

Culturally, I think there will be a degradation because of too much influence from outside especially from the U.S., Japan or South Korea. If you don't know, there is a wave of influences being carried out by these countries at present which I presume will greatly affect our culture in the future.

In terms of population, BOOM!!! hahaha at present we Filipinos are approaching the 100 millionth mark. Just imagine forty years later.

Technology, if the Philippines government will learn the lesson that they should support local inventors & engineers, well I think we will be at par with other advanced countries forty years later.

Well, that's it...:amuse

I can see the cities starting to decay, the government becoming so corrupt in inevitably leads to a revolution...economy is in chaos....military has become disloyal....and Communists will take over (hopefully)

I don't think that you will want communism to take over US. Just look at how rotten North Korea and Cuba are because of communism. You better pray that US will not go that chaotic. :p After all, it is the big boss of the world. If something bad were to happen to it, I don't know what other countries would be like.

i hav my own opinions, i prefer communism to democracy and capitalism, and it does work, and they are not rotten, only oppressed by the world for their different form of gov't

Then if you don't mind, will you kindly explain your reason for believing in communism here? It is interesting to know that someone still have faith in communism. :)
