Ban has been demoted from my favorites list. I'm really starting to dislike him. Actually dislike is too strong a word. His recent actions definitely don't sit well with me though, as well as his demeanor after the fact.

It's a tie between Gowther and King for #1, with Merlin and Escanor bringing following them up in interest. Mel and Diane aren't bringing anything new to the table. Since I can only vote for one though, I'll keep it going with King.

Nah, Ban is still my favourite; I'm holding on the tiniest hopes for him. But I'd like to add that Merlin is creeping ever so close to that top spot. She's been such a breath of fresh air since her introduction; her knowledge of magic is huge and she is intriguing.

Ban

The dude resembles in my opinion Grimmjow, not only they have some similarities in appearance but both of them are badass, powerful, arrogant and cocky, i consider though Ban to be a better character because he has better story, he can be a troll and unpredictable at the same time, Ban is simply the best character of the series, he already has a harem, Elaine and Jericho , well in Jericho's case, she wants him so badly, it is so one sided for now, lmao

i don't have a problem if Ban x Jericho becomes canon in the future, they kinda fit together



King

The second character with the best story in the series, he is a very cool character with a tragic past too, he and Ban can make a very awesome tag team, aside their differences in their arguments, they have some respect for each other


Diane


Pretty, strong and has a charming personality


Merlin


She seems so mysterious and tricky, not to mention she is way too pretty



I find Meliodas cool only when he fights, aside that, he is really boring

For me it has to be king. He has a truly tragic story and he can't simply catch a break. And when he wants to he manages to be unspeakably badass. Ban is a character I don't buy. I used to like him more but the more I think about him I don't buy it. Ban is the sort of dude who is intentionally and consistently an asshole. And yet when elaine met him she made the point that there was no malice in him and there was something deep and whatnot about him. It does not make a shred of sense and if it does it only means that ban is being an asshole because he somehow objectively reasons it is the way to be, not out of malice. And we are still talking about the guy who stole toys from children (unless there is some backstory to that) and tried to kill meliodas. Ban is too convenient a character, he is an asshole to everyone and somehow the manga makes the point he is a saint. King is more interesting in that he tries his best to be a better person and do right by others but fails, sometimes for things beyond his control. Ironically, king is more human than ban that way.

Diane is cool although she is too normal. She seem like a teenage girl who can't get over her looks. Well, that is precisely her character in a way. She needs to be more developed. Meliodas is just boring. He is basically superman, he is already as strong and as perfect as he is ever going to need. The only thing he needs to overcome challenges is to use more of his already seemingly infinite strength. Every description of his power has made the point that he is simply overwhelmingly stronger than anyone else in the manga. He even fought 3 GHK class people and did not hold his ground. And he does not even have a sacred treasure. Gowther is just meh. I don't think he can really be liked or really related to because he is basically a robot. He does not have feelings of his own and only displays them when getting into a story or something. He is a fun character but not "favorite" material. Merlin needs to be more developed. I am hoping escanor will be a cool character.

In regards to Ban, he wanted to drink the water of the fountain of youth because he hoped he'd live long enough to have a better life, this is not really malicious. He spent enough time with her to show that he was also a jerk. Still, it's not like his friends were nothing to him.

Errhh.... ok... Technically diane is nothing to king but a friend yet so I wouldn't really mind in regards to king. In my eyes it would simply add to the whole weirdness regarding ban actively trying to be an asshole but failing because even he can't get over his inherent sainthood and whatnot.

Elaine was king's sister. The context in which ban took elaine is irrelevant to king, unless there is actual incest going on.

He probably does care considering he went back to the fairy kingdom for some reason. The fountain of life has something to do with keeping the forest alive so perhaps that has to do with why ban returned now.
I am pretty sure guilt and depressed is the default state of the sins. Most of them have pretty heavy luggage so to speak. Meliodas has an exceedingly long life and nations worth of regret, king has the lives everyone killed by helbram. After that there is what happened to his kingdom and sister, both of which probably hit him harder than it hit ban (he knew elaine for 7 days, king knew her for hundreds of years). As far as we have seen of the sins, ban is surprisingly the least tragic one we know of. We still have yet to see about diane, gowther, escanor and merlin though.

I find King quite cocky when he is fighting at times. Like when he was playing around with Guila and Jericho.

Ban is more playful but he doesn't act like that.

I really loved king the first time i saw him. When he pierced Ban out of nowhere and then was laying on his spear.. For me it was epic really. Unfortuntely after that didnt really see anything special. I hope he gets more spotlight in this arc.

He seemed more... prone to posing I guess? Or perhaps playful is the word. He stopped doing that after that arc though. After that there were moments of cockiness but still not quite like when he first met saw ban in the series.

Voting for King, because he's the character that got me into NnoT and I think he's absolutely adorable in his kid form. Like you said, he's there for obvious comic relief, but he's also the only one with a brain (especially when talking about the personal Treasures). I think his power is very unique too, and the way he's so matter-of-fact about everything. I'm surprised at the lack of interaction between Elizabeth and King though.

2nd place would be Meliodas for me, since he's so mysterious. And when we saw his demonic-looking shadow a few chapters back, that got me very interested in his background.

The other characters are sort of "meh" for me. Not that they aren't interesting or unique, but every chapter I mostly look forward to King and Meliodas panels.
