usugi drop for me is the manga which had the worst ending. its totally character driven manga, but i just couldn't digest the way the relationships turned out at the end. it seemed too unnatural to me.
Yeah Usagi Drop's ending made me feel really uncomfortable. At the beginning of the second half of the story the mangaka seemed to be heading somewhere with Rin and Kouki, but then everything headed to a completely different direction and she seemed like she was going out of her way to make the manga end the way she wanted it to. My advice to anyone who wants to check out Usagi Drop is to only read the first half of the story (before the time-skip) or to watch the anime, which only animates the first half.
I finished Usagi Drop a while ago so I know what you two are talking about. :gwah I had no idea what the mangaka was thinking (what was the editor doing!!!), and I actually felt betrayed while reading the last chapter as silly as it sounds.

See, the whole story was based on the fact that a little girl lost her lone caregiver and so a 30 year old single man was faced with the task of raising her himself. He interacted with other parents and sought their help in taking care of a kid because he's never done this before. Even though Rin never saw him as a replacement of her father, they were still clearly establishing a father-daughter bond which was emphasized many times throughout the course of the story.

But no. The mangaka just had to shatter those illusions and make their relationship romantic (remember that Daikichi doesn't see Rin in this light at all) and even sexual (Rin wants Daikichi to be the father of her child). I don't care if Rin's parentage was randomly changed to make this ~*okay*~.... IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AT ALL! a;ksjdfa;sjf;

I'd even take the epilogue of The Deathly Hallows over this. (O_o)

The only ending I was ever bitter about was Tenjou Tenge. It confused the hell out of me and the parts I did understand pissed me off to no end. It just seemed to fatalistic for my taste.

Like several people have said, Shaman King ending is probably the worst Manga ending I've ever read. I was so devastated by it, and had to turn away from Otaku world for a while because of it. I hope Takei will not repeat his mistakes with Flowers though. As for Usagi Drop, the ending is bad, but somehow after the revelation in the previous story before the end, I could guess that the ending would go to "that" path. Another Manga ending that I really dislike is probably School Rumble. It was just a huge meh, even though the story building is quite good at first.

..and to be honest I like Full Metal Alchemist ending.

Worst recent ending I've seen is probably
Ousama Game.

It wasn't a great manga to begin with but I think it was the first time I've ever read about an ending that just made me drop the whole thing on the spot.

To make it recent, the worst ending I found was

Katekyo Hitman Reborn. There was no proper resolution, no form of completeness to the ending chapter. I found Reborn an enjoyable read, and I liked the characters and plot, especially how badass Tsuna could be, but the ending was just like a massive splash of cold water to the face which left me spluttering and unsatisfied.

I had no interest in reading Usagi Drop, but after reading the ending I have to admit that is totally trollsome.

I have to admit, I think I've dropped series more than I've read something to its natural conclusion. :sweat But if there's one series that had the most unsatisfying ending, its definitely Sugar Sugar Rune.

The premise was really interesting and almost controversial because the girls have to be heartbreakers in order to win points to see which one will become queen. But halfway through the story, I think the author got bored of having the story be about Vanilla and Chocolate and switched it to be about Chocolate and her love interest. And then there comes the epic plot about how she's half witch and half wizard and she saves the day....but afterwards she doesn't become queen because "its not what's important to her anymore". While indeed, Chocolate was the hero of the story, Vanilla got sidelined for no reason. Even though she becomes queen in the end, she didn't have enough character development to justify it, other than a constellation prize for sticking around long enough.

xxxHolic and the only reason I say this is because the ending was heartbreaking. Yuuko died because of events in Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle, Himawari marries some dude that's not Watanuuki, Doumeki marries Kohane (kind of pedophilish in a way), and Watanuuki our main character inherits Yuuko's shop waiting on her to return but she never will cause she's dead. And Watanuuki himself is/will be alone for the rest of his life. Wow. Being the good guy doesn't just suck it sucks ass.

Bakuman's ending was terrible lol. It came out of nowhere. Well, not really nowhere, but it just felt like. "Whelp, that's our story. If you want more closure, TOO BAD! You knew this was coming!"

Almost forgot Mirai Nikki. My gawd. That final arc brought Mirai Nikki to being one of my favorite animes of all time, to a show i hope i forget about soon.

I recall Psyren ending abruptly with the lightning quick defeat of the big bad.

Even though I was a huge fan of Reborn, I agree with hatsuharupeace by saying that its ending was disappointing.

One of the things that irked me about the series was how most of its arcs start out promising but end up losing stream near the end. It's usually because the pace becomes more rushed as Amano works to end the arc; therefore, I was hoping that the (final) stretch after the Arcobaleno arc would finally be something that would retain its quality from start to finish- alas that did not happen so now we're left with many things left unexplained such as why Hibari looks like Fon and who the Cervellos are.

In general I'm more disappointed about the placement of the ending than the ending itself. As a huge fan back in the day, I'm also sad that there wasn't any sort of redemption making the unsatisfactory ending the last thing readers will remember. :/

I recall Psyren ending abruptly with the lightning quick defeat of the big bad.
Unfortunately Psyren had an abrupt ending because it got cancelled; it's really too bad since it was an enjoyable read. :(

Can't forget Psyren either. It was a great manga, I enjoyed reading it, but it ended too quickly and without a satisfying conclusion. Sad it got canceled because it had tons of potential.

Also makes me miss koen's announcement of next chapter being out. :'(

SAD STORY.

I have to say out of all the manga I have read and that have finished, Air Gear was a mess. By the end of it, I really didn't know what was going on and it definitely felt like a rush. I kind of got the feeling that Oh Great! really didn't want to draw Air Gear anymore.

Hitman Reborn, end of story...alright fine I'll elaborate a bit

I was really disinterested with the series once it got into the future arc; it was long, boring, unnesesarily dark and the power system was hoping around like a rabbit on crack until it finally fell of a bridge and drowned. I still stuck with the series because I was in that naive mindset when I was waiting for Bleach's boring arc to be over with "its just one arc, it can always get better later~!" It didn't for me honestly and so I dropped it but picked it up again to see the last few chapters since I heard it was ending. Now I honestly didn't care much for the final confrontation with checkerface or whoever the hell that guy was but basiclly it ended on "Oh, I'm still a pathetic dipshit who can't do anything on his own, but hey, at least I have FRIENDS~"

I facepalmed and Groaned.

Now in certian series I don't think this sort of thing would be all that bad, but what irritates me is that the whole issue with Tsuna being the boss is once again sidestepped and even though he has friends, he still seems so pathetic he still has to rely on either them or his super pills (the original power pill popper before hodi!) The fact that he isn't ready to not only take on the responsibility nor try to avert his fate, which is something I was acctually hoping he'd try in the begining, is just frustrating when you consider we've been follwing this guy for over 400 chapters, the fact that nothing gets resolved like this is just utterly ridiculous to me and only made me wonder why the hell I even bothered with the series to begin with.

goodness, I might be the only person who *liked* KHR's ending.

Worst ending? Phuu... It's Shaman King, innit. We had years of having that horrible non-ending, and the slow decay of the series that led to it was just crappy enough to make it all the worse.

Since no one mentioned it, Mx0 being cancelled and thus ending terribly was tragic. The Japanese have no taste.

Bakuman's end was less than amazing, but when a huge fan like myself had to stop reading the series on a weekly basis until it ended because the series was getting ridiculous, that is to be expected.

FMA's ending was pretty much terrible, but I was never gaga over the series.

Yu Yu Hakusho's ending was weak, but the series was actually pretty terrible as a manga. (The pacing was terrible. Everything happened at warp speed. How weird is it that I consider the anime dragging things out a good thing?)

I can't recall any shojo or romance series that I thought had a good ending. (They usually have some idiotic final event or just drift off)

Since Cage of Eden appears to be ending in 3 chapters (my bet is it is being cancelled), I'm going to preemptively put it on this list. It looks like it is going to do a hatchet job to the mystery of the series then have nothing be resolved.

And on that note, I'm fairly certain that 3 once popular series that are on their last legs will make these kinds of lists when they end if for no other reason than their massive decline. (Bleach, Gantz, and Naruto)
