What got me curious is, will Yuko appear again for the last time before she's disappeared completely? It is just too sad to have to let Yuko go before she's even had to chance to say good bye. Maru and Moro deserves so much more than simply disappearing into thin air. The black Mokona should be there as well, there's no reason for it to disappear. Not to mention its earing still holds various memories.

I love Yuuko's quality of hidden depths, the way she always knows exactly what's going on, and has outthought everybody from square one. In a weird sort of way she's both hitsuzen and Clamp incarnate: all knowing, pulling all the strings, and yet unable to change what the story will ultimately be about. Her character is such a perfect blend of strength and vulnerability. One one hand she's THE smartest person in TRC and ridiculously powerful, on the other she has to play by the rules she sets no matter how much it hurts her and I get the feeling she's incredibly lonely.

I think the scene where watanuki tells Yuuko he wants to grant her wish may be the single sweetest in all of TRC/xxxHolic It's so kind and with just the right amount of bittersweet (who else has ever wanted to do anything for Yuuko as a person and not as the Witch of The Dimensions?) to make it perfect. The ONLY thing that could top it for me would be C!Syaoran telling C!Sakura he loves her too.

I really hope she finds her happiness, she has earned it just as much as anyone else.

And, well, her alcoholic, gluttonous, slave-driving (wata, heheh) side is just kinda brilliant. And I don't think it's a mask, heck she acts that way around clow (well, she's perhaps not quite as bad, but still). She just has a LOT more to her than just that. Which is awesome. They're not quite completely separate personalities, either. She integrates yelling at wata for more sake very well with some meaningful comment about whatever is happening around him.
And agree with tsubasaholic about scene with Yuuko and wata. It was so unbelievably gorgeous.

Well, the latest chappie of TRC has come out, so I’m basing some of my speculations off from there (spoiler warnings! beep beep!)

As we see in the latest chapter of TRC, Yuuko-san once again appears with clone!Syaoran and clone!Sakura in the dream world. This offers Watanuki a chance to see them as well, and thus Yuuko (and maybe some questions about where the heck she was lol)

As for the lady accepting the food, Watanuki is going to have his first success at teaching others about themselves (aka being Yuuko-san). Poor Watanuki, he has no clue where Yuuko is. Now that I think about it, it only seemed that Yuuko-san went to the TRC world. So where is Mokona and Maru and Moro? It’s hinted that Maru and Moro still are in incorporeal form, protecting the shop (though we saw that it’s slowly being degraded, as Watanuki even saw), but I still don’t know where Mokona is…..*sniffs*

I’m really kind of glad that Watanuki is no longer a passive character. He really is starting to do things on HIS OWN and that makes me happy. It’s the one thing I really love xxxHolic (and thus think it’s better than TRC) is that it’s completely different in that there are no clichés, and a lot of room for character development and thought provoking discussions. The art seems a lot more eloquent, and the story is just a lot more focused rather than all over the place in TRC. Our main characters don’t have superpowers other than the ability to see and exorcise spirits (but that isn’t the main idea of the story) and it’s really the use of discussion between the characters that makes this manga flow really well. I’m truly proud of CLAMP so far, and I hope that xxxHolic doesn’t end soon (though TRC is going to, we all know that). I can’t really see how it can end. There are so many questions that need to be answered- especially Yuuko-san’s past. What is she? How did she get her title? Why was she separated from time and space? It almost seems that it’s Yuuko’s curse (like Jigoku Shoujo in a fashion- the girl has to make people’s revenge come true, in the same way that Yuuko-san must make others wishes come true).

Also, a bit off topic but….is anyone a Yuuko/Watanuki fan here? Cause I totally am.

I think food lady is worked up because she's finally decided to acknowledge reality and is finding it hard. Coming out of withdrawl and denial is really hard, often painful, and always works people up. I'm with the theory that there is a heavy parallel between her refulsal to eat food ad Watanuki's refusal (at a subconscious level) to taste it. Presumably as Watanuki helps her get over herself he is helping himself in the process. As Watanuki is a more mature person, his acceptance of other people is easier than hers.

In fiction generally, how you relate to the food someone makes is symbolic of your relationship with that person. Eating food someone has prepared is an act of trust and acceptance. I've found that my feelings towards a person heavily affect my willingness to eat food prepared (or purchased, but it's stronger with prepared) by them. If my sister or a good friend has made me something I'll cheerfully stuff my face but if food is made by someone I'm less warm towards then no matter how delicious it is I'll feel a bit strange as I eat. Think about how many times in stories poisoned or bad food is connected with people who want to do you harm. It's also interesting how sharing food is a pretty much central part of human social interaction.

Eating in general is symbolic of what we choose to derive nourishment from and what we choose to accept. The food lady's refusal to eat anything shows us that she is rejecting the world. I refuse to eat food from places whose practises and products I find morally objectionable. When you eat you make what you've eaten a part of yourself (quite literally) and what and how people eat says as much about their characters as anything else.

OK, note to self. NEVER post when hungry. . .

As much as I DON'T want to see that as possible... the theories sure are presented with a lot of good evidence and connections. @_@ It's mind-boggling. I'd rather think of it as relative or connection than actual HE ISness. But... we'll seeeeeee.... CLAMP is CLAMP! @_@

The appearance based evidence is excellent, that's what I've been saying all along. It is only appearance based though, we have never seen any indication that Doumeki has the necessary magic power or connection to Clow Reed. I could fully believe there's a connection though, especiallly as Watanuki looks like Clow and Himawari looks like Xing Huo. Perhaps there's some sort of story parallel though the weakest link in this is the absence of conection between Himawari and Yuuko.

Well it seems like everything's comming to a head so they're putting out a lot of chapters to get holic and Tsubasa over with?

I'm sure it'll break more often when Tsubasa and holic's storylines meet in the same setting.

Probably not. I think CLAMP are now trying to rush xxxHolic back to the same rate as TRC is going at, and then having both series link together for the finale, and at the same rate as well.

Yea, poor wata. Yuko needs to come back and see him (ok, right now she's with the clones, and the clones do kinda get preference in... Well everything, as far as I'm concerned, but still).

The appearance stuff is interesting. And yea, Himawari is like completely different from Yuuko. But with Doumeki... Aside from the fact that he doesn't seem to have any... I guess conscious magic, I don't see him losing it over something like bringing someone back from the dead. He's like Yuuko, too sensible for that. Still, there could easily be some link between them. And the other two. It's like specifically mentioned that watanuki looks like clow.

How is the Time in xxxHolic Related to the Time in TRC?

Yea. I wonder what the time differences are between the holic world and where the tsubasa group are now. Because while a lot less is happening in holic, a lot more time is passing. Then again, tsubasa is in a cut-off time at the moment, isn't it? So... Argh confusing. So it could be like months or years in holic while it'd only have been a few minutes for tsubasa. Actually it could be any arbitrary length of time. Ok, this is going off topic. Basically my point is that it's annoying that there's absolutely no way to tell what point corresponds to what unless they directly cross over.

And now Doumeki looks like FWR. Perhaps there's a slight allegory going on. You know, two guys, one girl, one guy has a crush on the girl the other doesn't particularly. Seems to resemble everything we assume about the Clow, Yuuko, FWR complex. Yuuko's conversations with Doumeki also seemed to have a really interesting extra layer to them if I remember correctly. I really should go read them again.
